Our Next Feature Presentation: The Stuff (10/12)

Join Us Saturday, October 12th @ ~8:00PM (US/EDT) Here: http://cytu.be/r/TroperCoven

For the uninitiated... A contingent of tropers (mostly from across America) holds regular get-togethers over the Interwebs on this site called Synchtube which lets individuals, such as ourselves, open and join in text-based chatrooms within typical web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, et. al.) that allow the chat participants to view YouTube videos in synchronization with everyone else present (without even needing to set up an account)... and we've decided to use said chatrooms to play cheeseball webvideos and feature-length movies found in the public domain which stretch all the way from letters B to Z, which everyone subsequently riffs on a la MST3K.

For over EIGHT years, everybody who gets involved mostly finds good enjoymentnote  in calling out tropes that are recognized in the videos and stories and coming up with jokes to fling back at whatever's happening on the screen, many of which turn into various in-jokes and running gags (a Coven Glossary is kept and maintained for everyone's help and convenience HERE) to repeat in the chat.

We're always looking for new ways to better coordinate and expand our activities and are more than happy to welcome newcomers interested in joining our gatherings.

Well, everyone, anime club's tonight. Won't be able to join because of the school's problems with Synchtube.

I missed it tonight. My family decided that I should be social.

I hope I can catch the movie tomorrow.

Yeah, first day on my latest film shoot had some delays. But that's the movie business for ya.

I'll definitely be around for Sunday night though. What are we watching then, anyway?

And a little something for the second greatest bad villain that we've ever witnessed (after Blingbeard).

So Prom informs me that everybody should be preparing for Galaxy of Terror, yet another film bearing Roger Corman's name as producer/executive producer. This means things can go two ways—either we get Death Race 2000-level laughs or Deathstalker-level frustration.

Film boasts a red band trailer, so make what what you will from a peek at additional mature content.

So tomorrow night we're watching Wild Zero in Prom's room.

Also a whole bunch more ratings for past features have been decided. Abraxas probably shoulda been a [awesome]; the    X    is definitely gonna get it a lot more attention, though. But, let's face it, if any of us HAD to watch any one of the    X   -rated movies for a second time, we'd all be picking that one, no questions.

Bi: It turned out that the glowing guy from the beginning was luring people to the planet in order to find a successor to inherit his powers, "testing" the people by having them confront their worst fears.

And yes, that means giant maggot rape was that blonde woman's worst fear.

Yeah, I sorta forgot a lot of Galaxy of Terror already because in the late night hours prepping for my work during the graveyard shift tonight, I watched Abraxas multiple times while throwing this thing together. Culmator, Komaydurr, Komador, Anti-Life Equation, Klomad, Kilometer Almeida (in YT Captions)...

X   -Rated my ass! There's a fine line between torture and just plain stupid.

The movie would probably have earned a [awesome] rating if we had watched it last week. It's just that we watched it rather early on, so, at the time, it was the most painful thing that many of us had watched.

I about half think that each of us should watch Birdemic again.

Now, before you all tear me limb from limb, here me out:

If we see it again it would remind any of us what TRUE PAIN is. Plus it would also give any newbies or people who haven't seen it a glimpse into the gaping black maw of hell- er, I mean make them appreciate some of the bad but less BAD movies. Plus... the people who haven't seen it really should share the psychological burden.

Hell, we could consider it a rite of passage: whomever doesn't cause themselves grievous bodily harm or self inflicted death is now a MAN... or WOMAN.

We should prepare ourselves and see it again.

War is God.
