For the uninitiated... A contingent of tropers (mostly from across America) holds regular get-togethers over the Interwebs on this site called Synchtube which lets individuals, such as ourselves, open and join in text-based chatrooms within typical web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, et. al.) that allow the chat participants to view YouTube videos in synchronization with everyone else present (without even needing to set up an account)... and we've decided to use said chatrooms to play cheeseball webvideos and feature-length movies found in the public domain which stretch all the way from letters B to Z, which everyone subsequently riffs on a la MST3K.
For over EIGHT years, everybody who gets involved mostly finds good enjoymentnote in calling out tropes that are recognized in the videos and stories and coming up with jokes to fling back at whatever's happening on the screen, many of which turn into various in-jokes and running gags (a Coven Glossary is kept and maintained for everyone's help and convenience HERE) to repeat in the chat.
We're always looking for new ways to better coordinate and expand our activities and are more than happy to welcome newcomers interested in joining our gatherings.

Won't be tuning in tonight. At anime club.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987Uh... anything planned for tonight?
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."I was wondering that, I'd usually have a PM reminding me by now....
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerProm doesn't seem to be online. Does that mean it's up to me?
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Oh, whatever. Better late than never. Get on in here.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."What did I miss?
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerIce Cube and Metal.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."And Martian goths... Rather, Earth humans possessed by Martian ghosts who turned into goths... on Mars.
Anyway, electricity has finally been restored to my living residence (Finally). Prom, I'll be looking to snatch back hosting duties tomorrow night.

Ah, so you guys watched Ghosts of Mars, eh? That isn't bad for a bad movie. XD
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987It's pretty damn bad for a John Carpenter flick... and we've seen Dark Star.
So what's on tonight, Brain?
I might not be able to make it (I've got to be up to wait for a package tomorrow).
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerDunno what we'll be watching yet but I'm a bit irked right now. Some dude called me prejudiced just because I said that there are a TON of pony-related avatars here and elsewhere. I did NOT knock the show or the fans, all I fucking said was that there were a lot of these avatars everywhere!
Are people so devoted to this show that even the slightest bit of reproach causes a flurry of anger?
War is God.Yes. And that's all I'll say about that.
Also, you sure you meant "flurry"?

To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Heck, I'm sure even expressing a mere lack of interest in cartoon ponies and their adult fandom (never mind stating an actual opinion/observation of anything) could set them off.
Sadly, it has. I think. I don't like being a fan of this show sometimes.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Yeah, some people just think they can embrace the message of the show without even thinking about how their own actions contradict their beliefs.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987I mean, there's NOTHING wrong with liking this show. The dude just got angry with me because I said that (in the Arrest the Avatar Above you Thread) his avatar was under arrest for being a pony avatar in a sea of pony avatars here and elsewhere. WHERE in that statement indicates that I feel negatively towards the show or the fans?
War is God.Something similar happened when I said there were lots of Homestuck avatars on this forums. Which there are. You are lying to yourself if you say otherwise.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Hell, the dude's probably just so worked up about his subculture's devout tribal mentality (which basically comes with some form of general disdain for all perceived "outsiders" by default) when reading a sentence that begins, "The above avatar is under arrest for...", he just decided to stop after getting as far as, "...for being a pony avatar...", and just decided to jump on a moment to go hog wild.

BTW folks, tonight I'll take Norm's suggestion and put on Shivers, which is apparently David Cronenberg's first film. Hey, everyone's gotta start somewhere. Here's a trailer:
It gets bonus points for being trashy exploitation.
War is God.I think it's more the "Kid at the back of the classroom" mentality;
- The Kids At The Back are picked on for being at the back of the classroom.
- The Kids At The Front talk endlessly about how sad the kids at the back of the classroom are (maybe citing something one of them did, or something).
- The Kids In The Middle don't care who sits where.
- Neither the kids in the Middle, Front or Back identify themselves as such, but the Front kids recognise the kids at the Back as such and the kids at the Back recognise that the kids nearer the front pick on them for being at the back.
- When a kid from The Middle approaches one of the kids at The Back, the later only sees a kid from nearer the front and assumes bad intentions.
- A kid from the Front might start mistreating the kids nearer the back (but who are not actually a kid from The Back).
- The result being the Middle kids think both the other groups are a bunch of arseholes.
It's the same reason a lot of gamers still have a knee jerk reaction to criticism from anyone who sounds like a Moral Guardian. In a few years time, the people who seem to act as if the mere existence of bronies is an affront to humanity will get bored of antagonising them, bronies'll be just another sub culture and everyone in the middle (that's us, mostly) can finally stop having to listen to their bickering.
Awesome, I've been wanting to watch Shivers for a while.

TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerHuh, looks fun! I may be there tonight, but not with bells on! (I have skulls on my pajama pants...)
EXCITING POSSESSION ACTION!
Just floating around...Won't be joining you guys tonight either. On Grandma's Mac due to difficulties regarding my laptop.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987Pre-show has begun. Get in here.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."
You had to be there. To explain, we didn't watch Unicorn Fist and ended up watching something else involving the "Spider Sect".
