For the uninitiated... A contingent of tropers (mostly from across America) holds regular get-togethers over the Interwebs on this site called Synchtube
which lets individuals, such as ourselves, open and join in text-based chatrooms within typical web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, et. al.) that allow the chat participants to view YouTube videos in synchronization with everyone else present (without even needing to set up an account)... and we've decided to use said chatrooms to play cheeseball webvideos and feature-length movies found in the public domain which stretch all the way from letters B
to Z
, which everyone subsequently riffs on a la MST3K.
For over EIGHT years, everybody who gets involved mostly finds good enjoymentnote in calling out tropes that are recognized in the videos and stories and coming up with jokes to fling back at whatever's happening on the screen, many of which turn into various in-jokes and running gags (a Coven Glossary is kept and maintained for everyone's help and convenience HERE
) to repeat in the chat.
We're always looking for new ways to better coordinate and expand our activities and are more than happy to welcome newcomers interested in joining our gatherings.

It's looking like a lot of us are going to be hit with even more snow and shitty winter weather again, and for times like these, we got just the right movie for warming our spirits (and our freezing asses)—Absolute Zero.
(BTW, the Wikipedia page on this movie
even has a section for the Scientific Inaccuracies
)
I thought for a moment that Absolut had come out with a new flavour.
"Monsters are tragic beings. They are born too tall, too strong, too heavy. They are not evil by choice. That is their tragedy."Alright, East Cost America is getting covered in yet another deep layer of snow, and we got a hell of a winter movie just for the occasion in the form of Absolute Zero.
But, first, come to the chat before the top of the coming hour for new Lowtax and Shmorky and more crazy gundam anime.

I appear to have stumbled upon an interesting martial arts film for us to check out at some point. It's called Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky (trailer
) Based on the TV Tropes page, and the trailer, I think it could be something that we'll find interesting.

Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.I watched that once. It's actually the live-action version of the first arc of the manga, and while the movie is pretty much the epitome of Bloody Hilarious, it's got nothing on some of the bat-shit insane stuff that you'll find later on. (Also, it's pretty notorious and legendary among B-movie viewers.) Basically, think live-action Fist of the North Star - with gore intact.
...You know, I'm surprised we haven't watched it yet.

Come to think of it now, we've been putting off the live-action Fist of the North Star long enough, as well. The Story of Ricky is notorious, from what I remember reading a long time ago. It's amazing we've gone this long without that title coming up once. I may have to open a poll before Thursday's movie to decide which of the two we'll watch for Kung Fu Friday. On top of that, this Friday, we're gonna have to take a poll on what past movie to rewatch the following night, too.
Anyway, Sunday's movie is gonna be a bad comedy doozy. Post-Airplane!, Pre-Police Squad Leslie Nielsen carries a spoof comedy that's more forgettable and more unbearable than 2001: A Space Travesty.
Tonight, I give you... Spaceshit —I mean Spaceship (aka Naked Space aka The Creature Wasn't Nice aka Spaceshit)

From what I can tell, it's a spoof of the general premise of Alien... with an old costume left over from This Island Earth thrown into the mix because... somebody wanted to raise questions about its ambiguous gender(?). I'm just as baffled.
It can't be as stupid as North or as uncomfortable as Sextette, though. You should come, if you can, and give that bad movie muscle some flexin'.
Prom, congratulations. "It's so nice to be turned on again." is now a status.
Also, some of my suggestions are now available!
- "Gonna take a lot to drag me away from you."
- "Seeking boyfriend-free girl"
- "Married to the job"
- "Its Not My Fault Im Not Popular"
I'm so proud!
"Monsters are tragic beings. They are born too tall, too strong, too heavy. They are not evil by choice. That is their tragedy."I think I'll be coming.

They left in a costume from This Island Earth? Is it one of the mu-tants?
And what about the pre-show? What'll that be?

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."
Yeah, whatever that thing is in the trailer that says it needs to use the bathroom but "[isn't] sure if [it's] a boy of a girl" very closely resembles that alien from The Island Earth.
Anyway, I'm not entirely sure I'm gonna do for pre-show. Perhaps we can gopher the next episode of Pilot Candidate aaaaaand... IDK, whatever we anyone's got for another twenty minutes to fill. I'll be in the chat in another 10-15 minutes (as of 6:10 PM, EST) to try and figure it out, if anyone else wants hop in and throw something out there.

Alright, we're gathering in the chat now to watch some utter crap and an episode of Pilot Candidate. Then, at the top of the coming hour we start Spaceship (or whatever alternate title this video will surely be going by, instead)
You know where we at! http://synchtube.6irc.net/r/TroperCoven
As much as I'd like to see tonight's movie and how corny a Leslie Neilsen comedy can be, I'm going to spend time with my dad. Who, ironically, likes Leslie Neilsen and also liked his experience with Synchtube, comparing it to MST 3 K, which is one of his favorite shows - but that's not what we're going to be doing. So, I'm going to have to skip tonight.
So considering that none of you wanted to watch Spaceship for some reason, here's the highlight of the preshow. If you don't watch the whole thing all the way, you're not a real man/woman and nobody will ever love you again.
"Monsters are tragic beings. They are born too tall, too strong, too heavy. They are not evil by choice. That is their tragedy."That was on MST 3 K right?
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."

I don't wanna break my back over making this .gif...
