For the uninitiated... A contingent of tropers (mostly from across America) holds regular get-togethers over the Interwebs on this site called Synchtube
which lets individuals, such as ourselves, open and join in text-based chatrooms within typical web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, et. al.) that allow the chat participants to view YouTube videos in synchronization with everyone else present (without even needing to set up an account)... and we've decided to use said chatrooms to play cheeseball webvideos and feature-length movies found in the public domain which stretch all the way from letters B
to Z
, which everyone subsequently riffs on a la MST3K.
For over EIGHT years, everybody who gets involved mostly finds good enjoymentnote in calling out tropes that are recognized in the videos and stories and coming up with jokes to fling back at whatever's happening on the screen, many of which turn into various in-jokes and running gags (a Coven Glossary is kept and maintained for everyone's help and convenience HERE
) to repeat in the chat.
We're always looking for new ways to better coordinate and expand our activities and are more than happy to welcome newcomers interested in joining our gatherings.

Okay, time to get this show rolling! Right now, we got some content from Everything is Terrible and some old school Inspector Gadget, with some Limbo of the Lost scattered in between. Then, at the top of the coming hour, we dive into Disney's live action adaptation of Inspector Gadget, starring Matthew Broderick and Rupert Everett.
(Also, stick around after the movie, if you're up for it, for an extra-long, new LP video from Lowtax and Shmorky!)
You know where we at! http://synchtube.6irc.net/r/TroperCoven
Well. Talk about disrespectful to the source material, and corny as all hell. And yet, I was one of the two people who gave it ![]()

, because I actually genuinely enjoyed myself. It was really stupid but kept my interest the whole time. Many of the callbacks to the original cartoon were done poorly (and how do they fuck up "Wowsers!" as "Wowser"???), but it was still an interesting experience.
Well, we watch bad movies in our group. I introduced someone else not from TVT to the group, but he didn't like the fact that we only watch bad movies. The last time I saw a good movie was when we took my nephew to see Frozen.
That said, I came in expecting the worst. I really did expect pure shit. I guess you could say that I got it, and it really did take a dump on my childhood memories, but it was strangely entertaining, sort of like an interesting alternate take on the characters, I guess, even if it was all stupid as hell. Plus, rewatching the cartoon (though that wasn't one of the better episodes) reminded me to take off my rose-tinted glasses and realize that I had a high tolerance for shit in my childhood.
Since when were ANY of the Barbarian Brothers movies bad movies? : [
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987After some thinking, I've decided to take a temporary break from this coven for a while. For personal reasons. Sorry if this disappoints any of you. It's been fun, and I've seen a lot of fun movie along the really bad ones, but I just think I need some time away from here.

Do not spare the feelings of those who would not spare yours.Being here every single night literally at 8 PM (or earlier to catch the pre-show), I can understand wanting to take a break. Not to mention that, working a 9 AM - 5 PM job, that means I have less time at night to do things on dA and so on. It's part of my routine now.

Phys, whether you're gone just a few days, weeks, or longer, lemme just say that you will be missed.
You've given our group and culture a lot through your videos and remixes and other contributions. In return, I give you my best wishes for the most luck with your current focuses. I'm sure I'll still see you around the forums, but hopefully we can reunite here on your own terms sometime soon.
I concur with Sean. Your influence is not something to be scoffed at. You've almost been here since day one, even before this coven actually came into being.
You were there in those preliminary, crude times on Gmail where we'd all have to manually synch ourselves with the video at hand.
Of course, I do not begrudge you to remain against your will, but I hope you'll return sometime in the future.
War is God.

AHFHFFHFH Can I join the big kids?
