Um, I scanned over the list and didn't see this conversation, so here I go. For the image of the You Are Not Alone page, I would like to suggest this flag. It is the American flag for the Prisoners of War and Missing In Action. Upon it is the phrase "You Are Not Forgotten." This seems a fitting phrase, especially if the person suffering the loneliness doesn't have anyone physically next to him.

[up] Unfortunately, that doesn't fit the trope...it's about a person who's in complete despair and feels that they're completely alone actually being uplifted by another character.

Here's the thread that was just closed on this. I see that we've also had three previous threads for it. *sigh*

There is also still an image on the page (this one) — it's just commented-out because there was discussion about it being a spoiler. I came to the conclusion in the previous thread that it wasn't a big spoiler and should be reinstated, but there wasn't really consensus in any direction. Suggestions from that thread include Heartcatch Precure and Ouran HSHC. I like the "current" best, provided it isn't a spoiler.

A spoiler for what?

I think everyone who has seen the show agreed it's not a spoiler, since the girl doesn't actually die.

[up]Yah; it seems only the OP thought it was a spoiler, with others who had watched it saying there's no indication of what's happening and you don't know when the scene will come.

Edit: The You Are Not Alone entry on the PMMM page, while spoilered, doesn't even refer to that image.

[up] One of the PMMM examples on the You Are Not Alone page does refer to what's happening in the image and it is spoilered out.

I'd say that even if the picture is misleading/ambiguous, a character's apparently impending death can still ruin your watching experience, whether it actually happens or not (or happens at a different time, whatever).

I like the Heartcatch Precure one.

[up] I lean toward that one myself, even if it's just a portrayal of the situation and not a 100% straight example.

[down] Good point.

[up] We've done that in the past. Remember the Fountain of Youth IP thread? The picture we chose for that wasn't a perfect example either.

[up] ...okay, that's one of the sweetest things I've seen in quite some time. I don't think it works for this trope, but it's a fantastic pic nonethelesss.

I have to agree with Willbyr on that point.

Would the "I know that feel, bro" Meme work for this?

[up][up] memes and meme-based pics are a no-no in general, I'm afraid.

Why don't we sift through the previous threads on this one and make a huge crowner?

I think the Katawa Shoujo pic would make for great Image Link fodder, but sadly its just too big for the main page, as adorable as it is.

We could possibly use it as an "illustrates without being a true example" situation...maybe. If so, we could just cut it down to the principal panels.

[up]I think it is a true example, as the trope says...

"Or maybe someone feels lonely and simply needs a hug."

But I agree that it should be shortened.

It's on the page as well... [1]

I think I like the second better. More succinct, less likely to leak far into the trope listings, etc etc.

Also, off-topic, but I'm not the only one who reads the trope name and immediately winds up with this playing in their head, am I? I haven't even played the game long enough to reach a point where that'd even play.

While it is a very long image, I think it's better than no image. Also agree with the music.

I lean toward the second, but I made a couple of sandboxes for comparison's sake.
