I wouldn't say lying. "Lying" is a pretty strong word.
I think it's more like a case of miscommunication or something.
I mean, has anyone else used the Kitsu website for updates on stuff?
In case anyone was wondering if Henshin was doing the movie's animation, I asked them about it via Twitter and this is what they said.

Yay, it will be a REAL animu!
I wish I knew Japanese so I could understand Hitoshi Ariga's twitter.
Saying "wish" because I don't have to time nor desire to learn kanji anytime soon.
If it helps, you could try Google Translate.
It might not be much, but it's something to work with, right?
Apparently, everybody missed the 20th anniversary.
Have something fitting for the holidays.
Y'all should check Ariga's Twitter every now and then, you never know what he'll post. It's either videogame fanart, or cats.
More info on the Klonoa movie by Henshin might be revealed sometime this Fall or Winter.
Reminder: The project is NOT dead.
As of right now, the project is NOT canceled. The who/how/what might look a bit different, but the end goal remains the same. All we can say for now.
Sad news. The Klonoa anime project is dead.
Well. That's a pisser.
Then again, it might not be as dead as we're assuming it is...
Rough translation (by Google): Mr. Ariga received the DM. The animation plan of Klonoa is still alive now! What? Since this time is incorrect information, let's wait for the announcement from the official source without being spread out.
The tweet from was from 12/31/18 whereas this tweet I'm sharing is from 1/2/19.
I'm not entirely sure what's false info and what isn't. It's possible the project is going through some kind of Channel Hop. At the same time, it's also possible that it's just up and gone. We probably shouldn't read too much into anything, but either way, something's fishy...

I hate to bump this thread with bad news, but...
The dream is deader than dead, as per Ariga himself.
Great, now I have a deep empty feeling in the pit of my heart.
I'm so upset about the news. It was the only chance the Klonoa series would had gotten to gain more attention to the general public.
so... now what?
Now we mope, maybe rage at the universe for denying us a Klonoa movie or impulsively vow that we'll resuscitate the project when we hit the big time as we go through the five stages of grief. Then, we wonder where'd everything go wrong. And ultimately, we move on.
If there's some silver lining to any of this, I guess it'd be this tweet from the Social Media and Event Manager of Namco Bandai's Middle Eastern and North African branch:
Make of that what you will, but I doubt it means much...

I'll tell you what needs to be done.
Put both games for online purchase. Put them on PSN, make them run on a PS4. And PS5.

The film is cancelled...?
Isn't the first game already on PSN?
For PS3, PSP, and PS Vita I think. Not sure if it's on PS4 though.
Nice to meet you guys, btw. I should post on this subforum more. It's cool to see more Klonoa fans.
I'm a fake fan. Still haven't beaten Balue's Tower.
I only have 2, Beach Volleyball and the Wii remake of the first game, which I still haven't properly played (mostly because I can't be arsed to plug my Wii back in)

Just emulate the PS1 original. 100% doable, you have 0 excuses not to.
