Hello, Im a fan of Sega's Super Monkey Ball series. I recently got interested in the series and I would like to share it with you guys. Has anyone here ever played the games or even heard of it?

Ooh, I love SMB. Haven't played one in a while, though.

I noticed that whenever I play a SMB game, I tend to play as Aiai and Baby the most. Mimi and Gongon are still cool, though.

[up] Ditto. I still like the very first SMB game on GCN the best, just for the level design. Lots of different creative challenges, and all without being too gimmicky. It's still one of my favorite GCN games of all time, even though I haven't played it in years. I also usually play as Baby, although that's mostly 'cause the other monkeys tend to block my view of the path on those narrow rails in Expert.

It's been 9 years, but I can still remember the day I finally unlocked the Master levels, and how utterly ecstatic I was. It was well after I had already unlocked Master and Master Extra in SMB2 (which was a much, much easier feat since you redeemed Play Points for extra starting lives instead of continues, and unlocking Master requires a no-continue run on Expert + Expert Extra). The sequels were enjoyable, but they just weren't quite Nintendo Hard.

I have Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2. Man, are they difficult.

I suppose it's a lot more fun with friends though.

Oh, ever so great memories of raging at the multiplayer games when playing with my brothers. They were really fun regardless. I still remember the shuffle board-type game.

So, apologies for bumping an old thread, but after a talk in "Ask the Tropers", I thought I'd talk about Super Monkey Ball Deluxe. Now I don't have this one (I have the original Super Monkey Ball on Game Cube though), but I heard from various sources, first by Game Sack's Joe Redfer (though he only briefly mentioned it) that, despite being the first two games in one DVD, it wasn't that well received by Monkey Ball enthusiasts mainly for the controls.

(Can't link because I have a newer account)

Further, for the PS 2 version, critics such as Gamespot say the game doesn't look like the GC version, the framerate is lower than both the GC and XBOX versions, AND the loading times are longer.

Anybody acknowledge these? Because it sounds perfect for a Porting Disaster entry.

[up] I'm honestly really happy about this! Super Monkey Ball is back, and Banana Blitz always seemed like one of the more interesting games to me.

Also, the game will be coming to the west for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on October 29, and the PC via Steam this winter.
