@Ink Dagger: After doing the final stage of his quest, there is a 70% chance he will become Satisfied and a 30% chance he will become Urbane. You can also pass a Hearts challenge to persuade him not to go through with it, in which case he will become Prudent, which doesn't give as good of stat boosts as Satisfied.
EDIT: Regarding not being able to fire even if the enemy is in your lights, are you in fog? You can't target them in fog.
EDIT EDIT: Also, I have an FL question: how do you get Mark of Credit Pages for an Iron Republic Safe-Conduct during the Nemesis Ambition? Just grind Counting the Days from Opportunities?

♭What.^ Yep. Keep grinding Counting the Days for it.
On the Magician, even if it's risky it's still better to try to send him in and hope to get Satisfied...the Serpentine is a great engine.

Give me cute or give me...something?Is it possible to Save-Scum the event?
Backing up save file works.
Give me cute or give me...something?How do I do that? I've found that basically every game is different when it comes to doing that and I'd rather not make asumptions.
x5: It's actually possible to do the Counting the Days grind without any opportunity cards, though it requires a fair amount of progress in certain areas and some specific decisions earlier on. The guide to doing so is here.
Well, I lost an hour of progress earlier. I hit the Horizons, Chapple, ALL of the Khan's places, Frost-whatever castle (Frostfinger???), Salt Lions, Station 3, and Abby Rock in one go. I was rather pleased with how many places I hit even if I didn't find Mt. Palmerston like I needed to deliver the first Smuggle.
I got hit with a Search as soon as I arrived back in London. They found the unmarked crate. Naturally, the Bandit/Bruiser INSTANTLY came after me. Its early game so I don't have enough Hearts to beat him and no where near the amount of Ekkos to pay him off (I hadn't gotten the chance to turn in my Port Reports). He killed off all of my crew down to 2 people.
There was no possible way I could continue. I had to reload to about an hour and thirty mins earlier.
Naturally, I hit nearly all the same palces (Though I missed Abby Rock and Station 3 because of Fuel consumption) and I saved at the Light Barge near London incase I got searched again. I didn't but goddamn if that didn't kind of upset me.
Ouch, that sucks. Bad RNG early is always a danger in games. Oh, and Frostfound is the name you're looking for there.
Sunless Sea has been nominated for a Golden Joystick Award for Best Storytelling.
I also had the most terrifying experience. I got loot from the Blind Bruiser so I had to go find Mt. Palmerston to deliver it. I got a hull of 15 Fuel and 12 Supplies and headed off.
Found Shepard's Iles and sided with the Gunnie Pigs, and was rewarded with... Over 10 Supplies AND Fuel!
I had to dump basically all of it overboard.... : /
Then I went North to keep trying to find Palmerston. Got into a Snow Storm, and a very high level ship attacked me for almost all my hull before the storm ended and I escaped.
Found Palmerston and delivered the cargo and I'm making my way back.
Uh-oh. My Terror is rising (so I could preserve fuel since I was getting low) and my Fuel is also low.
It quickly became a game of having 100 terror in pure darkness to make sure I survived. And I kept losing crew to tentacle monsters. And I eventually was only able to go one speed.
It was awful and horrifying and I never want to do that again.
I did make a lot of money though!!!
After playing Fallen London for a long time, I finally got Sunless Sea.
The main thing I learned from the death of my first captain is that the hotkey for Turbo is best moved away from being right next to the basic directional buttons. Still, got an hour out of that guy.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Anyone want me to be your patron? I just remembered I can do that now.
but HOW?I could use a patron, just to see what that would be like xD
FL name?
but HOW?Jay El
Because Jay was taken
Grinding Persuasion to 100 sucks lol. The Shuttered Palace hasn't opened up a lot for me as I approach 90.
Who watches the watchmen? You don't seem to be available on the list. You must have over 100 Watchful.
but HOW?Wait, I need to have over 100 stats to be able patron? .-. Then why the heck that option is open for me?
Think of it this way- if your stats are high enough, why bother getting a patron in a first place?
but HOW?Ah I read wrong what you wrote
Anyway, nope, my watchful is 80. None of my stats are over 100 xD
You know, once I thought that none of the Masters of the Bazaar were scary. I mean, most of them are kinda reasonable, even with their Blue-and-Orange Morality. Mr Wines is nice, and Mr Apples is an outright alien bat Jesus. Mr Fires and Mr Iron are creepy, but even they aren't too bad. Mr Pages....oh, Mr Pages. It's impossible to be scared of someone like him. The rest of the bunch are kind of in-between, but none of them are truly sinister. Even Mr Sacks seems to be just a reverse Santa, even if you can give him abstract concepts and YOURSELF, if you happen to be Too Dumb to Live.
Oh, how wrong I was. I just played the Mr Sacks storyline in Sunless Sea, and he is bloody terrifying. Those nightmare sequences you have when he's on board are pure Nightmare Fuel...which is kind of to be expected, being nightmares and all. But Nightmare!Mr Sacks takes it to a whole new level. Trust me, in those nightmares he goes full-on Mr Eaten with that damn sack of his. Never mind his Narm-y new nickname ("The Crimson Beast of Winter"), he is probably one of the scariest things in the Neath, along with Mr Eaten, the Body Horror mushrooms of Demeaux Island and Varchas, the Fingerkings, and of course those damn sorrow-spiders and gallblighter wasps.
"If I was a tabletop RPG character, my player would be accused of both minmaxing and overdramatic roleplaying." -Me^ Then again Eaten also appears as Sacks in Sackmas...
Also I really need to play Sunless Sea again...didn't play that for a long while.

Give me cute or give me...something?Isn't it different master on each day card?
Yes. ONE of Sacks is Eaten.
Give me cute or give me...something?
I still have the beginner Ship Parts so...
Maybe it was a glitch.
Any suggestions on how to make sure Genial Magician becomes 'Satisfied'? I know its probably a long way off until I actually have to solve that Quest, but I want to keep it in mind.
