Boing Boing reports that comics legend Joe Kubert passed away today. The creator of Sgt. Rock and Hawkman, he was 85.

Today also marks the 5th anniversary of the death of comic artist Mike Wieringo, and the 16th of writer/editor Mark Gruenwald. They are both sorely missed.

  • Bows heads to the passing and the memory of a legend*

Theres sex and death and human grime in monochrome for one thin dime and at least the trains all run on time but they dont go anywhere.

I've only recently begun to appreciate how talented Kubert was. I didn't know that Mike Wieringo had passed away. RIP to all three of them.

Am I a good man or a bad man?

That's a real shame. He was going to be at an upcoming convention in Baltimore and I was really hoping to meet him. He certainly won't be forgotten.

He did at least one cover just this year. Still working at 85, wow. RIP.

[up] More than that : he was inking his son's Before Watchmen — Nite Owl, and there's a "Joe Kubert Presents" miniseries due out soon.
