Respect the Red Right Hand
Yes, the two most fan-hated things in comics came about because fans are in charge. THIS MAKES ABSOLUTELY PERFECT SENSE.
Instead of writing the characters as characters, they keep trying to revert them to THE ONE I REMEMBER FROM MY CHILDHOOD! And they warp everything around that
The current crop of fans don't like that, because most people (in spite of what they say, like 'bring Coulson back to life') actually prefer a decent story with the characters developing in a consistent way.
All this being said, Alan Moore is a massive superhero nerd, and he wrote some of the best superhero stories ever, which just goes to show that every rule has exceptions. A lot of the good writers now are also superhero fans, as well as the bad.
Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.![]()

I can't speak for DC, but One More Day came about for precisely that reason: because a kid that grew up loving Spider-Man got a job at Marvel, and ultimately became Editor-in-Chief and decided he wanted to make Spider-Man be the same character he grew up loving twenty years ago, because he was, in the fan's opinion, better then. One More Day is exactly the result of fans growing up and Running the Asylum.
