Not gonna lie, I think Encanto at least was actually deserving of an Oscar last year since it was still a legitimately great movie (though I would not have complained one bit if The Mitchells Vs The Machines won instead since that movie was amazing, too), but it would have been disappointing if Turning Red had won this year. Don't get me wrong, it was still a good movie IMO, but its competition just blew it way out of the water. I'm glad this movie took the win this go-round.

I agree. Encanto was honestly my favorite movie overall of 2021, though I would not have been upset if The Mitchells vs the Machines had won instead. But if Turning Red had won this year, earn though I adored that movie, I would have been pissed.

I'm glad this movie won.

Hopefully this movie winning the BAF award means the winners will be more diversified from here on rather than just the latest Disney or Pixar movie.

Unless said Disney/Pixar film legit deserves it, of course.

I actually wouldnt mind if Disney Pixar won IF and only IF their movies genuinely are the best animated movie the year has to offer. That's why I am really hope this year (And even the next if they dont correct course by then) is a major wake up call for Disney for them to recover Acclaim, respect and last but not least MONEY. Improve or lose the money, which is the one thing they actually care about.

So it never showed up in the movie per se, but apparently they came up with the concept of Pinocchio's nose growing into different stuff depending on the context of the lie (or maybe depending on his mood?).

Like, complicated ,dithering lies would produce large pinecones, sad lies would produce sickly trees with hanging roots, and the biggest of big lies would produce massive pine trees like instantaneously.

That's actually pretty wild! Now I kinda wish we saw something like this in proper action. surprised (But then how would they be able to incorporate it without sacrificing the movie's pacing?)
