You kidding?
The guardians as bad guys goes as far as at least Emerald Twilight, if not older.
This is treaded, boring territory we are going through.
Well, maybe for you this storyline is treaded, boring territory. But there are a number of people out there (such as myself) who haven't read up on the Green Lantern storyline as deeply as...Batman.
Besides, Comic Books like these work in a Soap Opera format: if a generation gets sick of it, "No problem," says the comic book company producing them. "We'll just pass it on to a new generation that is not familiar with it." It's hard to say how well that logic works, but that's what they do.

Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee! The Guardians are never big parts of GL. In the Silver Age they were mysterious and distant. In Bronze they progressively gained more and more character faults (Ganthet's Tal and Emerald Twilight). In the dark age they died and Kyle had to make his own decisions. To be fair, it's difficult to write an authority figure that's right all the time.
Meanwhile, as the war of the third army rages on, Kyle is learning to channel all the emotions, but he's not alone in his quest. Carol's come along with him in hopes of finding Hal, who has recently died.
A new 5th green lantern who's a thief, but sympathetic has recieved a ring, is trying to make sense of things, and just got a visit from the green lantern squirrel who says they've figured out that the guardians have gone "insane".
Salaak got imprisoned for discovering the 3rd army conspiracy, the first lantern swears vengeance for his treatment, oh, and just as Kyle learned to channel greed, the 3rd army attack, which lead to The death of Sayd! Her last words were to Kyle, Carol, Arkillo (who was traveling with them), and Larfreeze to tell Ganthet that she loved him. And now Ganthet is going to take the field against Kyle, while Hal and Sinestro have to figure out how not to be dead.
So all in all, a pretty regular tuesday for the green lanterns of earth. Oh, and John's following fragments of Mogo in hopes that he might ressurect.
Lord Eric Wu, Grandmaster of the order of Troping.I have to say that I find the whole "emotional spectrum" to be quite strange.
For those who don't know what I'm talking about, it goes like this: Red = Rage, Orange = Avarice, Yellow = Fear, Green = Willpower, Blue = Hope, Indigo = Compassion, and Pink = Love.
Now, I agree that "rage" and "fear" are emotions. But are "avarice", "willpower", "hope", "compassion" and "love" emotions?
Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!"Greed" is the feeling of "I want this". Envy, etc. I'd consider it an emotion.
Hope is too something you feel. As is love and compassion.
Willpower is the only borderline thing, but as I understand it, it is the neutral center of it. The farther out an emotion is the stronger it is (Anger and Love) and the more it influences you. Willpower is the center.
The Other Wiki says "In psychology, philosophy, and their many subsets, emotion is the generic term for subjective, conscious experience that is characterized primarily by psychophysiological expressions, biological reactions, and mental states."
Being stubborn as hell and unwilling to back down, in essence exhibiting willpower, would fit therefore fit too. Unlike the other emotions, which influence their wielder willpower comes purely from the wielder.
"You can reply to this Message!"Looking from the previews, we're getting/got a soft recon on the Guardians of the Galaxy Origin. In the Silver Age (GL v2 #40), Krona accidentally created evil. In Ganthet's Tale, Krona caused entropy to leak into the beginning of the universe (making it "Born old"and "killing" millions of civlizations).
It seems now the first Lantern caused the founding of the Guardians. I wonder if Krona has anything to do with this?

So...I have finally, FINALLY caught up to Green Lantern after a long binge through Geoff Johns' run since Rebirth (incidentally, I wish I'd known that the main Brightest Day storyline had nothing to do with anything and was so utterly boring, drawn out and just generally pointless)
I've just caught up to issue 0 and for the main Green Lantern series in the New 52 and I was wondering how to go about starting with the new Third Army event.
I've generally avoided reading up on the Green Lantern Corps in my binge (apart from the big events like Sinestro Corps War) as I wasn't as interested in their stories but are their chapters and this New Guardians series any good or relevant to the overarching story arc (at least for issues #1-#0?)?
And this Third Army storyline appears to be #13-16 of each series but is it like other events like War of the Green Lanterns where story moves from series to series or is it one of those cases where I can generally avoid all the other series unless I want to get more details (like with the Night of Owls/Death of the Family crossovers over with the Bat family?)
I gotta say, when Mogo got blown up, it certainly felt like a Wham Episode!
They always said that if that one died, the whole Green Lantern Corps would fall apart. I guess they weren't kidding after all.
I wonder if Johns has seen/read Fullmetal Alchemist; the Third Army seem a lot like the Mannequin Soldiers
◊ to me, except for the You Will Be Assimilated factor.

Ah.
Donate money to Skullgirls, get a sweet poster.I didn't catch the annual.
Yes, what you said makes sense.
