I Want To Hold Aono-kun So Badly I Could Die - The student librarian is a girl beneath the notice of everyone around her, but a chance encounter with a handsome boy has given her the courage to confess to him. He accepts, much to her surprise, and they start dating for two weeks... after which he dies in a car crash. It is quickly apparent that the girl is not the most stable unicycle in the bike shop, and she attempts suicide to reunite with him.
Surprise! The boyfriend hastily knocks the razor out of her hands, having returned as a ghost. This just makes her want to kill herself even more to join him, but he convinces her to stop by promising to stay by her side.
However, coming back as a ghost has changed him - he suffers episodes where he doesn't act like himself at all, and when he returns to normal he's unaware and horrified by his strange behavior. Paranormal events and bizarre accidents are increasing in frequency in his presence too. Perhaps... he's on his way to becoming a malevolent spirit...

"When I was alive, I was a tender soul. Now, I am tenderloin." -Nanako (Senryuu Shoujo)Read the first chap… I'm not a fan of the artstyle, it looks too bland and stiff. It felt kinda rushed too − the author should have shown us a bit more of their couple life before Ryuuhei died I think. The premise is interesting though. and there are a couple of genuinely creepy scenes. So not super impressed but I'll give it a couple more chapters.
***
Meanwhile, in The Memoirs of Vanitas volume 4… I'm still ambivalent about Jeanne. She's adorable, but seeing her dance in Vanitas' palm every time makes me increasingly uncomfortable. Domi's "advice" to the poor girl backfired horribly. >.> There are some interesting twists along the line though. Also, Roland is a really cool character.

May have come up since it had a trope page, but my latest discovery:
A sightly different take on the Monster Girl concept. Naoe is a massage therapist who one day finds as his client Erufuda, an elf who came to our world but is now having trouble returning. The reason is because going back requires you be at roughly the same weight you left as, which is problematic because Erufuda came to Earth for the food.
Particularly the junk food.
French fries are a gift from God in her eyes.
So, in other words, she's put on a few pounds.
Naoe helps her get straightened out and home, but she soon returns because she wants those fries.
I'm only about five chapters in out of currently about fifteen. Each chapter so far that features Naoe meeting a monster woman with some health issue to fix. A dark elf whose rear has gone flabby, Wich causes problems because she can't fit into the ceremonial garb she needs to boost her magic, a mermaid with poor upper body strength, or a plant woman whose head flower had gotten so big in the sun it's affecting her posture.
There's fanservice to be had and chapter 5 features an ogre in a sauna, so the bath house ep hits early.

Yeah, the artstyle can't be considered great by any stretch of the imagination, and it's just not shoddy enough to be considered Stylistic Suck. It's just serviceable. The mystery, horror, and WTF aspects of the story is the real meat of its appeal though, and as you might have noticed with the pillowcase, it can get rather creative on the ghost romance.
EDIT: Ho? Vanitas was already on my backlog? I'm snowed in at the moment, so might as well give it a go.
EDIT 2: Well, well. Reading this brought a sense of nostalgia to back when D. Grayman was still popular and not plagued by hiatuses.

"When I was alive, I was a tender soul. Now, I am tenderloin." -Nanako (Senryuu Shoujo)![]()
Did you know the author of Elf-san did a lot of hentai? Isn't that the least surprising factoid in the goddamn universe?
Amano Megumi wa Suki Darake is about the daily life of both Amano Megumi, an airheaded kendo ace who just can't help but get into erotic mishaps, and Manabu, a studyin-obsessed bookworm who wants to get into Toudai, but is continually distracted by his childhood friend's dangerous body!!!!!!!!!!
Incredibly horny, and incredibly slow on romantic progress. Like oh my god it it so fucking horny for this chick. Because of its own horniness, the jokes do get a bit repetitive? It's best consumed thoughtlessly.

Is D.Gray-Man even still a Thing?
Can't say I'm surprised. It almost feels like it's expected if you write a series with gratuitous fanservice
Yes, that's a complaint I've heard a lot and even agreed with for a while. And the endless hiatuses are big reason for that − when I reread the last 5 or so volumes in a row, it wasn't nearly as bad (though still a bit convoluted, admittedly). But it's obviously hard to follow a story when you forgot what even happened in the previous chapter.
Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai is getting an English release under the title Kaguya-Sama: Love is War
Free first chapter here:

?
They're not going to run out of them until the genre dies and gets reincarnated in a different world.
Check out my fanfiction! For anyone who edits the Kaguya pages, I've got everything moved and redirecting to Kaguya-sama: Love Is War. I'll get to wicks soon as I'm able, probably after work today.

Slime's one of those where it feels like the series has a lot more potential than what it's given so far. It's not bad, but the OP reincarnator thing has been done once or twice before. It's more interesting to see what he accomplishes in the society.
My favourite of the isekais is probably Kumoko (well, Kumo desu ga, Nani ka?, and technically my favourite is Log Horizon, but that's not quite for this thread). Been reading the WN of that which is way ahead of the manga. A few twists and a lot of funny character interactions. I especially like the chapters where they show the difference in perspective the various characters have. Especially regarding the vampire, both up and down in power levels.
Did we mention Bakarina? Because Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shite shimatta... (or I Reincarnated into an Otome Game as a Villainess With Only Destruction Flags...) is absolutely hilarious at times. Also an isekai, but far from OP. Well, OP in one area. There's a reason the MC is called Bakarina by fans. I've read the entire main story (which isn't in manga yet), which is kind of old by now (it was written 2014). Usually stupid protagonists can get grating (especially in the harem genre, which this, given that the premise is an otome game), but this one makes it work very well. Very light-hearted fun, despite the ominous title.

Check out my fanfiction!Nanba MG 5: Nanba Tsuyoshi is the second son of a Japanese Delinquent family. His parents were gang leaders in their youth, and his older brother is legendary delinquent who conquered as entire region. Tsuyoshi himself is naturally a delinquent as well. However, he started to dream to live a normal high school life. To that, he told his family he's attending a faraway, infamous bad high school, while the truth is that he's attending another, normal high school.
Yep. Doesn't really like the main girl, though.
This one only has 1 chapter out, but it looks promising:
Otaku Kareshi To Fujoshi Kanojo: Otaku Yamato and fujoshi Rin met in a manga club during high school. While initially disliking each other, one day they strike a deal: He can touch her boobs for one second if he can draw a yaoi picture she likes. He did. And when he's about to do it...a club member barged in and saw them. To prevent any weird misunderstandings, they told a lie that they're dating.
It's from the author of Yandere Kanojo, so I expect good things in the future.
I got your point. It's just that she's the "let's shout at this yankee without any preparations" dumb type, and more often than not that's a really troublesome kind of character.
Anyway, found another new promising series:
Memesis: Ash and Kijira used to be the travelling companions of the legendary hero Leon...until one day he dumped them for sexy girls companions. Vowing revenge, the two of them now formed a pair, wandering around the land, helping people and slaughtering monsters, all to prove they can be better heroes than Leon ever was.
I like what I see of the first chapter. It's got the manly hot-bloodedness right.
Giant Spider & Me: A Post-Apocalyptic Tale: A girl lives all by herself in a cottage, in the middle of a forest, in the middle of nowhere. She patiently waits for her father to return from his travels, but it's been a long while now. Food is plentiful though, so she passes the time by cooking various dishes. Fall hits, and she comes across a pumpkin that would make some great pumpkin dumplings... and that's when she sees it: A great honking spider with sharp teeth and eyes the size of grapefruits. It has taken a great interest in both her and the pumpkin, and she discovers that this bizarre creature the size of her bed is a gourmand.

"When I was alive, I was a tender soul. Now, I am tenderloin." -Nanako (Senryuu Shoujo)
…Well that sounds… original? ô.Ô I assume it's a comedy?
Found thanks to the Truck-kun thread:
Goodbye Isekai Tensei − Yuuya is your ordinary pervert protag' who likes to oggle his absurdly busty Childhood Friend Konami. One day he's visited by Angelia, the princess of a kingdom in a parallel world at war with the demon king. She asks for his help, as he is the one who can reincarnate into the Strongest Hero and defeat the evil kingdom; and the demons have also sent their own princess to stop that from happening. The key word here is "reincarnate" − that means that Angelia's mission is to kill Yuuya to bring him to her world, and the demons must protect his life at all costs.
I frankly wouldn't have paid any attention to it if not for that genius twist, because it seems to actively play every harem and isekai trope straight outside of that. Though it definitely has elements of parody and meta-humor to it (there's quite a bit of Kazuma in Yuuya). There are only two chapters right now, so I hope the twist won't remain just a gimmick and lead to interesting developments.
The artstyle is serviceable enough with a few nice shots; the only thing that makes me cringe is Konami's uncanny proportions.

...That reminds me I still have to read IS: Intersex... I've had it in my backlog for like a year...
Anyway, I read the third volume of The Memoirs of Vanitas and really, this series pretty damn good. I love the characters, the universe, and most of all the Ho Yay. So freaking much of it on both sides.
Lots of vampire "sex" too.
Vanitas' treatment of Jeanne is... questionnable to say the least, but he's kind of an asshole in general, so yeah. The way Jeanne gets attached to Domi after their little dance is adorable though. You'd almost forget that she can wipe the floor with all of them.
