Ok, I've seen this twice now, so I figure it's probably time to report it. If two people try to add a comment to a single YKTTW at the same time, the two comments seem to get put in the same slot, meaning one of them disappears.

This should be easy to confirm with two browsers and a sock account logged in with the second browser: just start writing a comment for an existing YKTTW with one, write and save a comment with the other, then save the comment from the first. The comment saved last should fail to appear, but then, if you refresh the page, that comment should magically appear, while the comment saved first should magically disappear.

edit: typo

Not the same comment bug I was thinking of when I first saw this title.

When you post a comment, the server adds it to the database then immediately queries it for display. Problem is that there's a small time delay between those two steps, so when you get comments A then B posted near-simultaneously, instead of fetching comment A and B for the respective posters, it ends up fetching comment B for both ends.

At least it's harmless - a page refresh verifies nothing was lost or scrambled.

Both time it happened to me, one of the comments was indeed lost. The first time, it was mine, the second time, it was the other guys'. I went back and checked to be sure, and the comments shared history.

I may not have the how-to-reproduce part down, since I don't actually have a sock to test with.

This didn't happen for me using my YKTTW sandbox, doing what you said. On each browser after saving the comment, it appeared to post as normal and no other comments posted. When the page was refreshed, the second one appeared properly; in the case of the window where the comment was posted second, the first comment appeared above it as it should.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

Hmph, ok, it may be harder to reproduce than I expected. Not sure what else to suggest; tricky timing bugs are a bear to find. What if you click save at the same time on both comments?

No further reports, locking as presumably done; if it still appears ask on Query Bugs.
