The Blue Beetle nodded.

"Awesome. It's really starting to feel like I might, with a lot of hard work, maybe someday become half way decent at this."

Megan let out a sigh of accomplishment as she looked down at the now empty bags on the floor. She had busied herself with finding places for all of her belongings, a good way to distract herself from the weirdness that happened not too long ago. With that already out of the way she took off her scarf and jacket, no longer feeling cold. The winged mutant exited her room and hovered in the air before she took off down the hallway and downstairs. She had an idea, it was a bit of a far stretch, but its better to be safe than sorry. She flew past the formal room and down the hall towards the library. Once she was inside as started to browse the books, looking for anything that looked like it could be related to magic.

Rogue said down in the chair, looking down. "I've been living in District X, but before then, I live in Mississippi with my papa."

"I fell in love with a boy named Cody Robbins," Rogue smiled a bit. Jaime was rather like Cody in some ways, but Rogue frowned. "I can temporarily absorb the abilities and memories of the people I touch involuntary."

"If I were to touch ya with my bare hand, I'd gain your abilities and memories, but you'd be incapacitated until it wore off." Rogue frowned, looking down. "But I didn't know that back then with Cody, and we kissed."

"Last I heard, Cody was in a coma, and I had to run away, due to... well, puttin' him there," Rogue looked at Xavier, regretful of what happened. "My papa disappeared soon afterwards... I dunno where he is."

"I thought I could at least have a normal life in District X, but the brochure was a lie," Rogue looked at her hand. "I thought if I lived alone, I could keep away from others, but... Jaime and err, Mr. Stark changed that a few days ago."

"Mr. Stark gave me a better place to stay, but the place was under the name "Roger Stevens," and he told me to keep it a secret, but Jaime told me that two of you here were telepaths so you would find that out," Rogue smiled a bit. "Just keep that a secret."

"As for Jaime, he knows about my power, and I told him about the risks involved, but he still wants to date me," Rogue looked down at her feet. "I want to control it, my power I mean, so I can touch his face without these gloves or clothin' or that armor of his gettin' in the way."

Rogue looked at Xavier again, finished with her speech. If he had any questions, he was free to answer them.

"I'm sure many people here have felt the same way at some point."

They exited the elevator, and Worthington lead him through ceilings and walls of cold metal. They went through a door on the right, down a narrow set of stairs into a fairly dark space, and then stood before a large set of metal doors, where Worthington tapped on a keypad.

"Welcome, Jamie...to the Danger Room."

The doors opened into a tremendous, brightly lit metal room. There seemed to be nothing inside it, but every surface was covered in panels and lines where holes had been covered. There was the vague scent of scorched steel in the air.

Megan was honestly a little surprised she found the amount that she did. Nothing really concrete, but it was possible that one of these books could lead to something. She grabbed A Study of the Occult and Sorcerers Throughout the Ages from the shelves and carried them to a table. She decided to pick the book on sorcerers first and give that a quick read through before moving on to the other one.

One of the RP Gs suddenly spluttered and gave out- not even exploding and plummeted back to earth into the upturned faces of a couple of homeless low lifes watching the chaos, Hammer Tech never fails to fail at the right moment.

The other one however kept on going...then it exploded in mid -air without ever reaching its target, though the flying shrapel might give Pepper a few more cuts for good measure Tony could thank his lucky stars that Bane had not used Stark Tech on him.

With the screams and curese of the fire fight below deing down Tony could now focus on getting Pepper to treatment from what was to be quite a day for them both.

Down below the gunfire had ceased- the rebels had run out of shot and were being marched out of the building- the 'leader' of this little uprising, the brother of the man killed by Ghost Rider in the northern tunnels was handcuffed and beaten by his captors; but he knew he would face more than just punches when he was to answer to Bane about why he decided to have his little riot and why 10 of Bane's men were lying dead in the slums outside.

"Well, if it you find it scary now..." Archangel left the room and closed the door behind him. "Don't worry," said his voice, "I'm not going away. I will be monitoring your every movement from the control room. You might want to try some warm up exercises first."

The book on sorcerers was dense as anything, and gave detailed descriptions of different sorcerers of legend, myth and rumour. There were ones from very far back, such as an account of Merlin and his feats in Camelot, but there were also some relatively recent, such as Dr Fate, a gold helmeted hero of the Golden Age. There were also some sketchy reports of titles possibly held by wizards, such as Sorcerer Supreme or the Great Shazam, and some theories of the magical sources, including alternate dimensions and a race of Homo Magi from Atlantis.

Megan flipped through the pages, not that surprised to see that Merlin was included in it. She wasn't sure if she was willing to believe if he was real or not, causing her view of the legitimacy of this book to be a little questionable. She read a little bit about Dr. Fate. She didn't know much about old super heroes, but he sounded like a plausible super. One thing that caught her eye though was the titles, and one in particular. "Sorcerer Supreme, huh?" She mumbled out loud to herself. With that one done she shifted her attention to the book about the occult, curious about what this one could tell her.

This book did not hold quite so useful information. It was mostly some neck-beard drawing his own pretentious conclusions and theories from people in that past who tried to perform alchemy and bizarre rituals. However, there was some interesting nuggets of information. One section spoke of occult artefacts like the Suit of Souls, which was exactly what it said on the tin, or the Gem of Cyttorak, which made the bearer a 'human juggernaut' at the cost of their moral inhibitions. Another section listed various cosmic entities recognised by some sects, including the Living Tribunal, who seemed to be like a judge for all the cosmic laws of the universe, and the Endless Ones, spirits who embodied the seven constants in the universe.

"The clown gave him a choice, but, alas, he didn't run away." the Joker said, removing the sphere on top of his cane, revealing a rather pointy syringe attached to the rest of the cane, which contained large amounts of a deadly fluid. He turned to the boy with a sadistic grain, raising the cane above his head. "You know, kid, you would make a good Boy Blunder. You and the Bats share an interesting characteristic- you just don't give up—"

But when the boy said "family take blood", the Joker slowly lowered his cane, attaching the sphere to the cane. He turned to the boy once more, this time with a warm smile. "Well, why didn't you tell me that before! Get into the car, kiddo. Let's go see your family! Just don't go yay, I hate babies that go yay."

"Well, uhm... I went ice-skating only once, with Ivy, and we ended up turning the ring into a battlefield once the B-Man showed up, so let's try something else!" Harley said, shrugging. "Do you have any good ideas, Doc?"

Megan found that this book was a bit harder to truck through than the other one. The heavy bias was really off-putting and uninteresting. Reading about the magical items and entities was interesting, but her opinion had already been colored by the preachy-ness of the author. She stood up to return the books to the shelves, but stopped when she was about to return the book on sorcerers. After a bit of contemplating, Megan decided that it would probably be okay to borrow it for a little bit. After all, this school was meant to help teach her how to control her powers, and this was the closest thing to a clue she had about learning about her other powers. She tucked the book under her arm and walked out of the library, headed back up to her room to deposit the book.

Xavier was silent as he listened to Rogue, nodding only occasionally.

"Well, you needn't worry. We here at the institute will do our very best to try and help you master your abilities, and we will make sure your living conditions with be far improved from your time in District X. Now, Ms Rogue, have you received any formal education before, in Mississipi or New York? And, on a lesser note, is 'Rogue' your given name?"

"As in schoolin'?" Rogue asked Xavier, smiling. She was rather happy about possibly getting the help in controlling her power that she felt she needed, though if Dr. Langstrom succeeds in his cure, she wouldn't need it.

"I do try to go to school, when I can." Rogue crossed her arms. "And Rogue ain't my given name... It's Anna Marie Carlyle, but the folks in District X gave me that nickname 'cause I could rob them of their powers like a rogue in the night."

"You have to be tough to survive there, and with what my power can do, people tend to stay away." Rogue commented, looking off to the side. "My father is Ronald Carlyle, though I don't imagine you'll find him if you try to contact him."

Well thank God for small favors... Tony thought, doing his best to keep Pepper shielded from the worst of the shrapnel, thankfully her wounds were superficial and not life-threatening, from what he could see...which wasn't much, but the fact that he could see her face and it was going from stunned and terrified to freaked out and vaguely upset, it told him she felt well enough that she was already planning how she was going to make him pay for this. "JARVIS?"

Sir, I have your remote release ready as soon as you are back inside the penthouse, and Dum-E is waiting with the first aid kit.

"Good job, JARVIS, give yourself a raise."

It only took about a minute to make it to the top of Stark Tower, and Tony didn't put Pepper down until he had walked inside from the balcony, setting her down on the couch. "Tony-," she started, voice a bit tense.

"Can...can this wait? I need to...you still have that." Tony reached out to carefully, carefully remove the backpack from her, holding it gingerly as though expecting it to explode at the slightest provocation. He scanned it over as best he could, even as the elevator dinged, and the wheeled arm robot, little Dum-E, came screeching into the room so fast that it drove into the couch full force, dropping the small white box onto the cushions.

"Thank you, Dum-E," Pepper responded flatly, taking the kit, her eyes still fixed on Tony. "You...have...so much explaining to do, Anthony Edward Stark."

"Uh-oh. Full name ultimatum, I'm in trouble now."

"There's no part of this that's a joke!" Pepper shot back, gesturing wildly at the armor. "What the hell is this, Tony? This is the same suit that was on the news for that incident in the Middle East, that was you? And then all this today, and that...that...person and you were sighted over Bruce Wayne's charity event falling out of the sky and-," Pepper probably could have kept going all day, but Tony picked that moment to shake his head, heading for the elevator. "Where are you going??"

Tony let his faceplate pop up as he walked. "This backpack has a can of some kind of gas in it...JARVIS is guessing at about 89% that it's cyanide based on weight and composition...and the release wires are attached to the zippers. I'm going to put it down in the lab in a safe until I come up with something better to dispose of it. Fix yourself up and take a week off, will ya, Pep?"

"Tony-"

"Can't hear you, transporting hazardous chemicals!" He was on the elevator and letting the doors closed even as Pepper was standing up to fuss at him some more. The instant he was clear, he let out an exhausted breath, falling back against the wall of the elevator, hanging onto the bag carefully. "Jarvis, once I'm in the lab, call Happy to come get Pepper and take her home safe...and lock down everything until she's gone."

Yes, sir.

Tony just closed his eyes, only barely acknowledging the deep weariness he was feeling at this point. He'd just make a pot of coffee once he was in the lab...he definitely still had work to do.

Alrighty, tell me where your house is. I'll collect your family's blood, and you'll all be the first ones to receive the cure. The little boy pointed out the directions to the Joker as he went. After a while, they came to a stop. The boy got out the car, and hurried over the road, but not to a house. Instead, he went into an alleyway in between the houses. On the floor was some kind of hatch, which appeared to share the function of a manhole cover. He opened it up, and clambered down into the tunnels below.

"Hey, got a sec?" she asked him quietly. As he looked up, she explained the situation.

"...I might try calling JARVIS again, for all I know it might have settled down by now. In any case, can I have your phone number or something? I had to wander around the school for ten minutes before I could find any of you," she added slightly ruefully.
