Tony was having to try very hard not to have a flashback to the time he was 13 and got caught joyriding around his in father's car at 3 in the morning. The guilt was the same, if magnified considerably.
The answer was unfortunately the same. "I...I don't know. I don't know what happened. I thought...I thought I heard things differently than they were..."
Easing back into life one step at a time"Heard things diff- What does that even mean, Tony? That you misheard him? Misheard the awkward, adorably innocent caller or the girl in the audience so eager to get behind you? Judas Priest, Tony, mishearing is when you mistake 'eat something delivered' for 'eat some liver', all right? And you were a step above- You were acting worse than Charlie Sheen and Christian Bale combined!" He sighed. "All the PR you've got's not going to wipe this one away."
And a Strange Figure Emerges."I know..." Tony kept his gaze down, even though Obadiah was only on the phone and not actually in front of him. "This...I made a mistake, a really bad mistake and...I just honestly thought I heard things really..." He went silent, unsure how exactly to try and explain. "I don't understand what happened..."
Easing back into life one step at a time"Right, okay, you don't underst- right."
There was a pause as Obadiah processed this.
"Tony...were you...doing anything, before the show started? Were you...experimenting with something? Not that I'm accusing, not that I'm accusing... Maybe, um, you ate some food that tasted funny?"
And a Strange Figure Emerges."Right, yeah, that might be an idea," said Obadiah, before sighing again. "Look, Tony, I'm not angry with you, trust me on that. I'm just...concerned. About your wellbeing, is all. You don't know what caused this, and we all know whatever 'this' was is not normal, so... maybe you just need some time to yourself, until we figure this out. Just leave the, I don't know, businesses and other things in your life to other people, just until we get an answer here, hm?"
And a Strange Figure Emerges.Access brightened up when he heard what Rocket said. "Really? Sure! I can take you to him-"
But then he stopped.
"...Wait. He said he doesn't want to be bothered. Now normally I wouldn't care, but he's in his lab with Lord knows what weapons at hand and watched over by Jarvis. You think we can get him to talk to us- or failing that, snatch him away?"
Tony stayed quiet a minute, before nodding vaguely, kind of curling up a little in his chair. "That...that might be for the best..." he said softly. "Honestly, it might be best anyway. After...after that, you and Pep stepping up and...you know, taking control would...would be the best way to keep the stock from freefalling. I don't want my...problem to hurt the company."
Easing back into life one step at a timeThe Raccoon seemed to be making sense Access thought -even thought that was something he never expected to ever think
- so he nodded and-
-*POP!*
They were back inside, on the main room.
"You should be able to address JARVIS from here" he explained, leaving the but if needed I'll port us to the lab part unsaid, trusting his smile to carry the message.

Hex hadn't been paying much attention as Fitz and Mercury went back and forth with each other, but even he could tell that this wasn't getting them anywhere. Looking at the duo Jonah said "I don't think there's anything else we can get out of the old man, why don't we try and get a confession outta Greenleaf?"
Booster was flying over New York, zipping among the skyscrapers, whistling the theme of the dramatization of Spider-Man's life, occasionally singing a line or two, looking for crimes to fight.
"Does whatever a spider can. Can he swing, from a web? Doo do doo, doo do doo...."
My various fanfics.Mercury turned to Hex, vexed. “We already tried that! And this guy literally just confessed! It’s over! She’s just kind of a jerk! What are we supposed to do about that?”
If I had that kind of power, I'd have dropped a meteor on your house ages ago~Fitz groaned and rubbed his face. "That can't be all there is to this, it can't be! There has to be something. We just have to-"
There was a small knock, and Simmons poked her head around the door. "Hellooo? All sorted? Everything all right in here?"
"Oh, sure, we're all fine. Mercury's just giving up, is all."
And a Strange Figure Emerges.Mary stood there thinking deeply after all how could she prove she and the kids were truly unhappy? . "I got it" she thought to herself as she walked towards Simmons and Fitz "She hasn't let anybody being adopted ever, every time a family comes she always discourages them, that must be in the records isn't it?".
There was a friend of mine who was very happy about her new parents they even gave her some clothes, but then she told them something and she never saw them again. Isn't that tight Samantha?" Mary said as she dragged a friend of hers.

Forgiveness is beyond justice, faith is superior than hope, redemption is better than perfection and love is greater than them all.Mercury stared at the girl for a long moment, then nodded. “Yeah. Yeah, there’s probably—” He got up, pushing his chair again as he pressed his fist to his chest. “Okay, we’ll give it a shot! Hex, you go with Fitz, take attention away from his story holes by launching into a few of your own. Try to get Greenleaf outside of the house if you can. Simmons, you watch this dude and make sure he doesn’t do anything to mess us up. Give him dating advice, he seems to need that. And Mary!” He kneeled down to her, and smiled. “You know this place better than anyone. Do you think that you can lead me to where she keeps her records?”
If I had that kind of power, I'd have dropped a meteor on your house ages ago~"Of course!" Mary smiled as she felt she was being useful. She walked two steps forward and pointed to an office that was just behind Mercury "We call that room the dream killer room the "nightmare room" as any dreams of being part of a family get crushed there.Parents that enter there don't want to ever see us again for some reason"" Mary recalled with a bit of sadness.

Tony was sort of sprawled in an office chair in his workshop, staring blankly at the display still up in front of him. He flinched when the phone rang, sighing, figuring Pepper was trying to chew him out, or someone else was going to be asking a lot of questions he didn't know how to answer.
"JARVIS, take a message," he said softly, as the android body had taken up a position outside the door with Dum-E to shoo away anyone coming down.
It is Obadiah, sir.
Tony winced, sinking down a little lower in his seat. Oh God. Of everyone that he knew was angry and disappointed in him, that was the voice he really didn't feel prepared to deal with. That was the only person in his life that had known him since he was a little boy, who he felt really knew him, and that meant whatever Obie had to say was going to be a hundred times worse.
He'd been embarrassing enough for today. Might as well not compound things.
"Put it through," he replied, rubbing his face slightly.
