Meh. It could just be an aspect of Animism, which basically states that all persons, objects and concepts have a "soul" which exists in a form based upon its relationships with all other persons and objects and concepts.
Which would mean that she "detects" it just fine. It just is what it is.
About Barbara Gordon...I've read The Killing Joke. She really held the Idiot Ball as hard as she could there! Okay, her door has a peephole...and she didn't even look through it. If she had, she would have seen The Joker and his goons and kept the door shut.
Here's the part that I find unbelievable: Barbara is a smart cookie. As smart as they come. So why would someone so smart act Too Dumb to Live? That mistake cost her dearly.
Since Joker is going to go after her this time, I hope that this time, she will not make a mistake as stupid as that one again!
Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!I figure, being the Commissioner and his daughter, the Gordons lived in a well guarded complex. They must have had safety measures against anyone with a grudge against Gordon. Joker got past them because he was that good, and they weren't expecting him since, before that, Joker never directly went for them in any continuity.
Yeah, that's probably true, but we'll never know for sure now!
Do you think The Joker will have a squad of goons, or is he going it alone this time around? Harley Quinn probably won't be in it, because she ditched him (finally!) some time ago.

Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee! What's scary about The Joker's lackeys is how it never crosses their minds that their boss could literally turn on them at the drop of the hat.
Just ask Sheila Haywood, Jason Todd's so-called "mother". Oh, wait, you can't, because she's dead.
Who's that, you might ask? Well, she was this aid worker in A Death In The Family. The Joker was aware that Sheila had previously performed "illegal operations on teenage girls" in Gotham. After one resulted in the death of a teen, she was blacklisted as a medical practitioner. The Joker had used this information to blackmail Sheila into giving him the medical supplies her agency has in a nearby warehouse. Sheila herself had been embezzling from the aid agency and, as part of the cover-up, handed her own son (who was in his Robin costume) over to the Joker. The Joker brutally beat him with a crowbar. Robin was soon lying unconscious in a puddle of blood, which the Joker casually remarked was "a bit messy". He then left him and Sheila in the warehouse with a time bomb.
Some "mother". She turned over a teenager to a Complete Monster to save her own hide. She had a gun in her hand, and it never even crossed her mind that "Hey, I've got a gun in my hand, and this Monster Clown has been blackmailing me! Maybe I should shoot him in the head and see how he likes it!" To take a certain meme and change it a little: "What, are you dense? Are you retarded or something? Who the hell do you think he is? He's the goddamn Joker."
It was sad how Jason Todd still tried to save her, even after everything she had done. And get this: in 2005/2006, while Jason Todd was the Red Hood, it was revealed that it was not his real mother that had died in that explosion in Africa. Well, they're right about one thing: she couldn't have been a real mother for Todd, because a real mother would have protected him from Joker, not try to save her own hide at his expense!
By the way, did you find it weird that everyone seemed to forget that Sheila Haywood ever existed since 1988/1989? Okay, she was an Asshole Victim, no question, but it's like the writers considered her no more than a plot device to be used and discarded in one story, and was never a character even worth their time and space. What's up with that?

Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!
Yes, we should! We have a number of pages for Comic Book events, so why not add another one?
The Joker losing his face really feels tacked on to me. The Joker is usually scary because he's relate-able (i.e. "One bad day...") Squicking his face or turning him into an Eldritch creature detracts from that more than adds to it. Maybe Snyder will show some character development into a new kind of Joker? Then the question becomes is Nu Joker as likeable as Classic?
Now that's a loaded question if I ever heard one! Remember that one Joker who had a forked snake tongue and turned out to be Gaggy, Joker's very first sidekick? Still, the tongue was a nice touch.
The Joker is now wearing his face like a mask. Is it just me, or is his new look reminding people of Leatherface or Michael Myers? This...is...Nightmare Fuel! <Screams>
Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!Has anyone been keeping track of the Death Of The Family storyline?
Okay, it's becoming clear that The Joker stayed away for one year because he was finding out the Batman Family's secrets. Combine that with the fact that he's acting more like his Golden Age self, and you have an Oh, Crap! situation!
Let's review what's happened so far, shall we?
- Batman confronts Joker at the ACE Chemical Plant. But he finds out that it's actually Harley Quinn in disguise, and Joker was using her as a distraction.
- A distraction for what? For Joker to get into Wayne Manor, assault Alfred Pennyworth with a hammer, and burn the poor guy's eyes with ammonia.
- Barbara Gordon finds herself dealing with Joker and James Gordon Jr., her psychopathic brother. Joker has Barbara's mother as a hostage, and you can bet that a lot is at stake here!
What is going to happen next?
Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!

Funny enough, Zatanna is a childhood friend of Bruce Wayne and may have even lived in Gotham City at one point. If she has not detected any Eldritch Abomination in Gotham or Arkham, even though she may have been a native Gothamite, then maybe this EA is just that good at not being discovered!
