Now that I've introduced the three Leagues I've currently thought up, here's one more, the assembler was a Canadian spymaster and result of Kinderheim 511 named Chris Maclean, who had the notable idea of using reality television to try and find potential spies he could train, however when he got wind of both the League owned by the US Government and the reformed V.F.D. came to the conclusion that he should assemble his own group of 'unique' agents in case of attack, the people he chose were.

  • Duncan Swanson, one of Canada's most wanted criminals and former contestant on Chris' reality show, Chris chose him largely because of the fact his first choice from it (Izzy) was recruited by the Americans.
  • Skullossus, an international supercriminal who was inspired by the deadly Fantomas and Dr.Doom, he joined the League in exchange for immunity to Canadian laws (the one exception being that he doesn't try to overthrow the government.)
  • Atomic Betty, a Canadian teenager and intergalactic police officer, joined because the Government found out her secret and because she wants to regain her self respect after failing to stop aliens from destroying New York, a failure that drove her to [[thealcoholic drink]].
  • Johnny Bravo, an American mutant with superhuman strength, while hamstringed by his lack of brains (and refusal to hurt women) he was easy to get out of America and supplied raw muscle to the group, along with...
  • Bear Hugger, a washed up boxer who was chosen for his strength and the fact that he learned how to speak with bears somehow.
  • Ramona Flowers, a teleporting delivery girl with a hammerspace equipped purse, provided transportation for the group.
  • Zii, a Canadian girl with a bizarre talent for seducing people regardless of gender, part of the reason she came on though was because she slept with Chris, hence why she's in (despite being the least competant member.)
  • Eric Cartman, a sociopathic kid from America who was lured in by money, despite his youth he's surprisingly good at plotting...with few realizing he's actually been exploiting the League for his own purposes.

The main threat this group faced was in fact Dogbert's League, though not directly at first, for Dogbert had taken a page out of Dr.Mabuse's book and manipulated the Leagues of Canada, America and V.F.D. into open war...but things didn't turn out so well once they realized they were tricked...

Yep, though it could be a character from say a sitcom discovering their a [[X-men mutant]], that idea could work just as well for a League member.

I like the idea of going with cartoon characters. Here's my crack at it...

  • Gretchen Grundler as the team's "M", who controls a complex intelligence network and supplies her closest agents with futuristic technology that she whips up herself.
  • Norville "Shaggy" Rogers, as an Action Survivor with a lot of experience in confronting and debunking the supernatural. He gets roped into the team's craziness when he tries to discover the secrets of his faithful dog's origins, and ends up stumbling onto Doctor Moreau's lab.
  • A small-time huckster called "Eddy" as the team's street-smart grifter/thug, who joins the League as an alternative to serving prison time after a get-rich-quick scheme goes awry.
  • Retired detective Elisa Maza as the older, jaded cop with a band of fantastical creatures backing her up.
  • A grown-up Hogarth Hughes as the badass G-man working for the government agency that runs Area 51, where the Giant's reassembled remains are kept.
  • A teenage Donald J. Thornberry as the feral Wild Child with the survival skills that come with a lifetime spent in the jungle.

The archvillain?

  • A malevolent, shrill-voiced alien entity known only as "Marvin". He was engineered by the Molluscs during their time on Mars to be the ultimate weapon of war, but he was abandoned after their invasion of Earth and awakened decades later by John Carter and the Tharks. Blessed with a body of pure darkmatter, a green suit of armor and an arsenal of Raygun Gothic weaponry, he devastated John Carter and Gullivar Johns' combined forces and left Mars to explore the cosmos as a warlord, adding new lifeforms to his army everywhere he went.
Now he returns to Earth to finish the job that his creators started back in the 1890s. But instead of conquering Earth, now he'll try to destroy it.

Good idea there. Though now I'm wondering, can anyone think up a League that operated during the Eighties...and World War III (Since I'm positive it happened in the League world, probably during the Eighties.)

Yes, yes it probably would. And here's my interpretation of such a group. Formed in 1986 after the destruction of New York was discovered to be a lie, it didn't take long for Nuclear War to actually break out, desperate to try and end this quickly America created a task force of 'unique' operatives, not unlike the ones used by the British government in the past.

  • Danny Bates, guerrilla soldier who was part of a resistance group known as 'The Wolverines', while one of the two survivors of his group, was more than willing to even with Russia.
  • Solid Snake, agent of FOXHOUND who distinguished himself in the destruction of Outer Haven. Recruited for his stealth (though not his fondness for boxes.)
  • Duke Nukem, a sixteen year old gunslinger with an ego the size of Jupiter, despite this very early stage in his career, Nukem was surprisingly competent at fighting people, especially aliens, his ability to get laid has led some to believe he might be a mutant.
  • Catherine Larchmont-Price, a mysterious woman with vast cosmic powers, claimed to have once been a member of superhero group Freedom Force until she tried to wipe herself out of existence. Her attempt was failed by a higher power who sent her back to Earth to end World War III.
  • Cinnamon J. Scudworth, a mad biologist who was inspired by Dr.Moreau, he didn't stay with the League due to his being called away in 1987 for a military project.
  • Hellboy, a demon in the service of the United States Government.
  • Rambo, a commando who apparently taught Nukem how to shoot, apparently vanished immediately after the group disbanded, was handled carefully due to mental disorders brought on by trauma in the Vietnam War.
  • Adrian Veidt, allegedly the smartest man on Earth, was gangpressed into the group in return for being taken off the death sentence, though he was known to be a death seeker largely because he unwittingly started World War III.

While the group was mostly used against Russia, they actually stopped the war after finding a race of aliens who started the war to harvest humans, in 1989 the group killed the invaders and the war ended, while this group was disbanded, the cleanup of the fallout the war created was handled by superheroes (including the Justice League and the Avengers, both of which had been lost at space during the war, and in their absence two newer groups known as the Guardians of the Globe, and the Superhomeys rose to public eye.

Say, here's another challenge I'd like to ask...what about a League consisting of humanoid animals? (Dr. Moreau doesn't need to be the only way the members could appear though, the members could also have connections to Cat City, Kevin and Kell, Dreamkeepers, Mobius, Extinctioners, Who Framed Roger Rabbit or Babe in the Woods just as easily.)

[up]That was partly the idea that I had for the Cartoon!League (I explain it in more detail on the League WMG page).

One of my theories is that Marvin the Martian always gets into clashes with Funny Animals like Bugs Bunny and his pals because they're the "children" of Doctor Moreau, and he wants to avenge the Molluscs who were killed by Moreau's hybrid virus. I just couldn't think of how I'd work the animals into the team itself.

Though if I did, Scooby Doo would probably be a top candidate, if only for his crime solving skills and experience with the supernatural. Maybe the White Rabbit and Krypto as well.

Then informed you shall be, here's my furry League. This League was formed by Catherine Aura, the leader of the Great Bird Conspiracy, having discovered a conspiracy to take over the human world and the Furry world that was led by a small white dog from Planet X, she chose to assemble a group of champions to help stop him before the dog succeeds...the members are as follows.

  • Thomas Cat and Jerry Mouse, descendents of some of Doctor Moreau's hyrbids, these two had lived a good life of (Vitriolic} friendship, shortly before they were recruited, they suffered heartbreak from women and were sitting before an oncoming train, they were saved by Rocky, who brought them to Aura for recruitment, their skills are their near superhuman tolerance for pain and damage, plus their skill in improvised weapons.
  • Roarke 'Rocky' Rickaby, a cat gangster from the prohibition era of Catherine's world. Rocky was taken in for his guile and mastery of the Indy Ploy, was known as a horrible shot but the first person Catherine recruited. When he was contacted he was trying to survive the crossfire of a gunfight between the Klaww Gang, and white fur supremists. Recruitment was accomplished through Catherine's time machine.
  • Omaha, an exotic dancer with a tendency for sexual adventure, Catherine chose her due to how two rather successful groups of heroes employed similar women. When found she was wandering aimlessly in California.
  • Miyamoto Usagi, a rabbit samurai from the Japan of Catherine's world, a mighty swordsman who's no stranger to time travel nor surprised by mutants due to personal experience with some, was recruited by Catherine shortly after Rocky.
  • Grabovski, a secret agent mouse from Planet X, an expert in stealth and master spy. Recruited to be the leader of this group, was retired when Catherine came to recruit him...but joined because he had a score to settle with Dogbert.
  • Jeneviv, a young woman from another dimension, she'd died on her homeworld but mysteriously turned up alive on the human world, Catherine found her in China and activated her dreampower (which was the ability to summon a powerful, demonslaying key to use as a weapon) and recruited her into the League.
  • Riff Raff, leader of a gang of cats, and child of a pair of cats from Planet X who were stranded on Earth, despite being a small time gangster he's much smarter than he seems, was recruited by Catherine for said intelligence but joined largely because he needs money to support his pregnant girlfriend.
  • Captain Locke, a nigh-immortal pirate from another dimension, mad as a hatter and a good fighter with his wooden sword-club, despite the hammpering his immaturity provides him, he's rather smart when he wants to be.
  • Razor and T-Bone, a pair of superheroes from the high-tech metropolis of Megakat City, brought in to serve as transportation and their skills as combat pilots, like Rodney Rabbit, they've had a lot of experience with supervillains.
  • Rodney Rabbit, a superhero known as 'Captain Carrot', gets superhuman abilities through the consumption of 'cosmic carrots', was brought in due to him being one of the best superheroes in the world.
  • The Cheshire Cat, a cat from another dimension with the power of invisibility and the bizarre trait of being able to distort his own body. Recruited due to the fact his cloaking power can even fool machines.
  • Inspector Carmelita Montoya Fox, a vixen police woman from Catherine's world, once chased a master thief all over the world in hopes of capturing him (and bagged many other criminals in the process) at the time of recruitment was living with the thief she once pursued.

Dogbert is the main threat fought by this League, though they've also had to deal with a criminal organization known as DOOM, and a mechanical owl. (I know there's a lot of members in this one, but I wanted to cover a wide number of furry fiction with this one, anyways the Great Bird Conspiracy is my explanation for how a League of Furries could be formed, because they secretly control an entire world of anthros.

Now I've decided to create a modern day British League, now due to League canon I won't use Harry Potter, so now that that's out of the way... After Emma Night mysteriously disappeared, Malcolm Tucker was appointed M, deciding to find where Night disappeared to, he assembled a task force of abnormal agents to handle both that and "unorthodox threats" the lineup he chose was.

  • James Bond (Daniel Craig version), the current user of the 'James Bond' codename and possibly one of the most competent (even more so than the original), unlike his presecesors he doesn't rely on gadgets to fight. He believes that Emma Night went off with a suspicious woman who was asking about an asylum patient...
  • Vyvyan Bastard, a superstrong and extremely violent college student. He was found in a hospital after suffering a bus crash that nearly killed his flatmates. Despite his unpredictable nature fit right into the group. Despite his violent nature is surprisingly intelligent. His preferred weapon is a cricket bat.
  • Billy Whizz, a teenager with superspeed that rivals The Flash, recruited while visiting some friends in Beanotown.
  • Dan Dare, an elderly spacefighter pilot who distinquished himself fighting the Mekon. Provided the transport for this group in the form of a present from some friends of his.
  • Sherlock Holmes, a clone of the original made in early examples of a military project, took the name of Sherlock Holmes while he began to try and find why he was born with memories of the original Holmes, the government offered to aid him in his search in return for his services.
  • Angela "The Voice" Twist, descendent of Oliver Twist and current owner of the mantle of criminal mastermind 'The Voice', was gangpressed into joining after Sherlock deduced her identity.
  • Tom Jackman, descendent of Mr.Hyde and metahuman with split personality disorder, was recruited shortly before an attempt on his life by a 'Ms. Utterson'.
Some of the threats this group has faced was a terrorist group from Q'Mar, a criminal mastermind known as The Face, and a quintet of criminals from another universe.

There are some great ideas there. I think I'll stick to the idea of a mostly British League (for the sake of the fact it's probably the British hiring them). But whoever said the media had to be British?

Therefore, my League would be comprised of:

The Doctor

Harry Potter

James Bond

Ciel Phantomhive (and Sebastien Michaelis)

Artemis Fowl Jr. (and Butler)

Toa Tahu

Wallace

Few Muggles know about the wizarding world, and almost as few know anything about the Doctor. Bond's inclusion would hint they have links to MI 5... Maybe UNIT or a breakoff branch of Torchwood brought them together? Ciel and Sebastien are demons, they did a lot that could get them noticed when Ciel was the "Queen's Loyal Guard Dog", and they really could have done anything over the last 100 years to build up the files on them. They probably have links with MI 5, and they're secretive enough that they could have noticed something from Voldemort's reign and not been obliviated. They also know about the Doctor. Artemis is note-worthy enough even if you don't know about his fairy connections, and if they did, all the more reason. Similarly Wallace's inventions are bound to get him noticed. Tahu's role in all this is probably going to be similar to Sawyer's from the movie - not originally pranned but included on request by the other members. Maybe Vezon or someone else with Kanohi Olmak accidently (or, if they're a new enemy, purposely) sent him to modern-day Britain and he got caught up in things in such a way the others noticed him.

As for the enemy, Light Yagami or Kaiser Söze come to mind, they're about the only two in a modern Earth continuity who could maybe outwit this group

(I also wrote a short comedy story for a "League of App game heroes)

Yes, technically the Doctor IS Gallifreyan, but he stays around Britain so much he's about as British as an alien can be. When I said British, I was thinking British Isles, hence Artemis. I also kind of meant mostly British. As for Gromit, well of course he's there too, but who's going to admit that a dog is a full member of the League? (Except maybe the Doctor).

I'm surprised you didn't point out Tahu's non-British-ness (after all, he's a biomechanical alien being created by a Danish company with most of his storyline written by an American writer).

Here's an idea I have...the League of Anime Gentlemen.

Formed by a mysterious time traveler to avert a horrible catastrophe in 2009. The League was formed of several people who held some odd significance to the timestream. Aside from the Time Traveler himself, the group consisted of...

  • Black, a violent street urchin from Treasure Town. Was recruited two months after he and his brother had a war with a demon and the Yakuza that lasted several months.
  • Rock Holmes, a sociopathic criminal with a gift for inventive crime. Was hired by the Time Travler, unlike Afro he used to be a good person, though how that changed was never explained to anyone, but the Time Traveler claims he knows...
  • Portugas D. Ace, a pirate from another world, was taken out of his world at the exact moment of death by means of nanotechnology, while his soul was trapped on nanites, the Time Traveler put it into a new body that was made through cloning, combined with DNA of a superhero to emulate his flame powers. Like Rock and Afro, is a hard person to control but unlike them he actually is relatively good natured.
  • L, a mostly retired detective who faked his death with such an elaborate scheme that even Shinigami were fooled...the Time Traveler found him and convinced the autistic to join up with him...though his insistence on eating only sweets does grate on the others sometime.
  • Afro Samurai, the revenge crazed samurai with an obsession with his dead father, while a mighty swordsman Afro is an unstable figure...but a master swordsman with great fighting skills.
  • Ichigo Kurosaki, teenager turned ghost hunter, recruited for his expertise in the supernatural and the raw power he possesses as well.
  • Eris, a catgirl from the planet Catia, recruited for tracking purposes...and the fact the Time Traveler was slightly horny at the time of choosing.
  • Lupin III, a master thief and grandson of Arsene Lupin despite being old and mostly in retirement (having to put up with the antics of his grandchild and son) he came out of retirement due to past experience with the Time Traveler in a previous League that Lupin himself had led.

The main threat they faced was a homunculus who called himself Father, who had spent some time in Hell after dying on another world, apparently wanted to cause some sort of 'impact' as a means of bringing himself immense power through a massive bloodbath. They succeeded in stopping the villain and sent him back to Hell, though they barely managed to do so with the assistance of a powerful martial artist and a village of superpowered ninja it was not too long after this that the League disbanded, but some of the members did join similar groups later...

Here's another League I thought up, a League of the Sixties. This was assembled by the organization known as CONTROL in 1964 to handle bizarre threats their agents couldn't ordinarily handle, it's members were...

  • Tintin, a Belgian reporter and adventurer who was twenty three years old at the time of the League's activity. Was the leader of this group and eventually the husband of Violet Baudelaire.
  • Lupin III, master thief and criminal mastermind who was caught at the time of the group's assembly and joined to avoid the death sentence...when the League disbanded in 1977 he went back to committing grand larceny again. One rather notable adventure concerned a corrupt nobleman.
  • Austin Powers, a spy from the British government, despite his perverted nature he was a surprisingly competent agent. He was only in it for three years before he got cryogenically frozen.
  • Jack Sparrow, a pirate who gained immortality from a pool in Uganda that gives Eternal youth, joined largely to support his fondness for alcohol.
  • Holden Caulfield, counterculture hero and domestic terrorist. Despite the unpredictable nature of his crazed brain, Holden was powerful agent with a fondness for bombs and guns, had an inexplicable dislike of The Rutles.
  • Eleanor Lamb, a powerful mutant from an underwater city, her vast superpowers made her an ideal candidate for the group. Though she was severely annoyed by Austin's constant advances towards her.
  • Violet Baudelaire, a highly inventive prodigy who was framed for murder in her childhood, after she returned from a year on a desert island with her siblings she was detained by CONTROL and was offered a job making gadgets for their agents, was put on this group to serve as science specialist where she met and fell in love with Tintin.
  • Jerry Cornelius, anarchist secret agent recruited from M16 after Austin got frozen, known for not being as reliant on gadgets as Austin was.

The main threats fought by this group were THRUSH, a criminal mastermind named Grey Mann, The Joker, and an empire from the past and a galazy that was very far away from Earth. Not to mention the various threats from the Soviet union they had to deal with as well. This League disbanded in 1977 when CONTROL was absorbed into M16.
