It's challenge day on the mothership: Adam Styborski wants a Krenko EDH deck, and Gavin Verhey asks for a very loosely-defined budget Standard one.

Is anyone else having issues with the Oracle set downloader? Every time I try and download the cards, it misses a few sets completely, a different set every time.

Make sure you've checked them all and that you actually let it finish? I've never had any problems with it.

Unless...are you on a Mac?

Nopes, Windows 7. Although this connection does have issues with connection interruptions, so it might be that that's what's throwing it off. Regardless it causes issues with gameplay; there wouldn't happen to be any mirrors that host just a complete cards.xml file by any chance, would there?

SO! Favourite M13 Legend?

Odric won me a game at the prerelease. Talrand does amazing stuff, as does Yeva, and I'm desperately trying to find room for both in my Edric Commander deck (Talrand might not make the cut, as my only instants/sorceries are land ramp and and a small contingent of countermagic).

No love for Nefarox or Krenko from me, unfortunately (though at least Nefarox will go into my Big Box black pile).

Yeva, if only for her Dot P 13 deck.

Talrand because lolblue.

Yeva's cool too.

Odric does get massive points from me for being so deliciously White in flavour and function though.

Much obliged Nyktos. And I'm honestly torn between Talrand for sheer functionality and Odric for how interesting I find his ability. Probably have to give it to Talrand though—Blu 4 Lyfe!

Alright, fixed the internet, got Cockatrice working again, and have a decent decklist set up for my new Modern deck. Anyone up to help me playtest?

The more I look, the more I fucking love Black Exalted.

Duskmantle Prowler: Showing that there's another sort of thing where being alone is better. Assassination, espionage, etc. I dig.

Duty-Bound Dead: Proving that Black Is Not Evil, with its commitment to an apparently eternal oath.

Knight of Infamy: Eh, I'm not sure about him. He's basically just Black Knight but with Exalted. No real flavour I can discern there, though Ms. Holland may do an article on him, that would be nice.

Servant of Nefarox: Adoring cults cheering their leader on and possibly lending a little life-force. Very evocative.

Nefarox: There are a few possible interpretations here, but no matter what, there's a bigass demon flying in solo and killing things with impunity. No complaints.

On that note, EDH anyone?
