Magic is still lacking a "Totally OP Creature Card that costs 1 colorless mana and one colored mana" in red.

Goblin Piledriver dude.

I guess it is.

IIRC correctly, somebody mentioned that one to Maro when he brought up the lack of a OP Red 2 CMC, and Maro argued that Goblin Piledriver ONLY works/is OP in a Goblin-Focused Deck while Tarmogoyf, Dark Confidant, Snapcaster Mage and Stoneforge Mystic all work in a wide variety of decks.

Actually Maro was in favour of Piledriver being the choice iirc.

I guess it is.

Maybe it was the asker who said that, then. It's a couple of weeks ago so I don't remember well. tongue

Anyone interested in a game of "Beating the crap out of each other with virtual Cardboard"?

Someone really ought to make a "Periodic Table of Magic" based on all the elementals.

[up]Would Question Elemental?'s symbol be a question mark? And wouldn't that cause some semantic issues?

In other news, I normally don't read Mike Flores' articles, but this one on the history of Standard's "bogeyman" decks is quite interesting.

Aside from his Caw-Blade fetishism (and complete lack of self-awareness about it), yeah, it was a pretty good article. I always like "history" articles like that.

I guess it is.

Caw-Blade is a weird deck. A solid nine out of ten people proclaim it to be the worst deck ever, but then you get that one tenth person who bemoans the loss of the skill-based mirror matchup.

I mean seriously guys, I get that Caw-Blade is probably one of the most skill-intensive decks ever but that was the dullest Standard ever.

It's not the fault of the deck itself so much as the environment it ended up in.

As far as one-deck formats go, Caw-Blade is about as good as you can get. But a one-deck format is pretty horrible in any situation.

I guess it is.

Man, I just realised how great Exalted is with Vish Kal.

Attack with one creature, it gets all the fucking Exaltation, and sac it to the Vishmonger after it does its thing.

Oh look, Maro answered my question regarding strategic concession! grin

Me: Your latest Tft P actually reminded me of an issue I have been wondering about for a long time. Does concession use the stack, is it a state-based instant loss or does it happen so instantly that you can theoretically concede WHILE an effect is resolving (which might be important in multiplayer games)?

Maro's Answer: Despite my comic, concession does not actually use the stack.

I mean, I kinda didn't get a clear confirmation, but still! My question got answered! Yay! :D

Yes, you can concede while something is resolving.

Although, seriously, strategic concession is hella lame.

Maro is...probably not the best person to contact for rules questions. Probably the best place to get an answer would be on the Rules Q&A board on the official forums or the Magic Rulings board on MTGS.

It's a card from the good old days before they really figured out that you shouldn't make cards that complicated or cards that are entirely dependent on the colours that your opponent is playing to do anything.

So, it's generally agreed that Wit's End is stupidly overpriced.

What would have been a good price for it?
