When pages are migrated to correct namespaces, you should also move the corresponding reviews. (See How to Move a Page, "Moving discussion and reviews".)

Some people forgot about this, that's why we now have a lot of reviews which you don't get access to from the work page, because they still refer to the work page in Main/ namespace. So it seems that those reviews got lost, when they're still there.

If you want to help, consider moving those reviews to refer to the work in the correct namespace. Remove them afterwards from the list.

If you find that a work is still in the Main/ namespace, consider migrating it. Especially if it's still a ptitle.

Since the list was longer than expected, we split it.

The lost reviews:

There are more than thousand reviews for almost as many works to move. Let's see whether I can make this work shorter.

Found a way to deal with them. A good part is done.

Almost done with the ptitles section.

EDIT: Accounted for.

According to Fast Eddie, there are only 24 ptitles left - and the only one that's not a redirect is the self-demonstrating page for Brian Blessed.

ETA: Oops, I misunderstood what was being talked about. Anyway, this is one project that I'm willing to help out on.

Thank you, my Earl.

Meanwhile, I've done quite a bit. But more than half is still there. (Fortunately, this includes reviews of works still in Main/ which may have to be moved later, if folks forget them again.)

Edit: Thanks to you too, movie007.

Also, I have one question to ask. I know that some policies regarding creator type pages have changed. For instance, we no longer have a YMMV tab for those page. Can they still have reviews, though?

Since Real Life doesn't count as a work, they don't show up anywhere.

Otherwise, just wanted to say: Now we have only 20 reviews to be moved left on page #1, and 68 on page #3. Good work.

The One Who Tropes, you did some good work here. Now all the reviews are saved, and we still have two neat lists for those reviews which works are still in Main/.

[up][up]I thought we weren't meant to have reviews for Creators. But I suppose if they follow the rules (not overly "OMG! This author is the best evar!" with no other content or "This author writes complete crap" with no other content.) they can stay.

Yup. Reviews are for opinions. Seems valid to have an opinion about a creator.

Ok, something funky is going on. I've noticed this a few times before, but I've finally been motivated to ask/whine about it.

When I move a work with reviews, then fix the indexes, then move the reviews, when I check the Related To page, I seem to always find the work already listed on Sandbox.Lost Reviews 1 or some such page. Since there's nothing in the edit history, I can only assume this is being done by some sort of internal bot. An annoyingly-prone-to-jumping-the-gun bot. Is this what's happening, and if so, is there any way to get the bot to wait a decent amount of time before deciding the reviews are lost? At least five minutes, say, and maybe an hour.

A long list that mostly consists of "reviews which were temporarily lost, but not long enough that anyone would notice" doesn't seem like a useful thing. And it's just one more thing you have to go in and fix when moving pages.

Should I repost this on the Bugs forum? I'm not even sure it's a bug, since I'm not sure it's a bot. Does anyone know what's going on here?

You deserve an explanation. When I wrote the script, I looked for all reviews referring to works in Main/. This of course meant that I also found reviews for works which are still in Main/. Since I thought it couldn't hurt to keep the list (so we won't have to look for those later, when we move the according works), I left them on the page.

It's also helpful for having a list of some of the works that still need to be moved.

Aha! Ok, that makes sense. I can live with that. Thanks.

eta: at least now I don't have to have that creepy feeling that the system is stalking me, and logging whenever I don't move reviews fast enough, or something. :)

Is there some way to check what reviews have been altered recently? I tried to move one that was referring to Submachine but now can't find where it's gone.

Use the reviews index. In this case, it looks like the namespace was entered as "Videogame/" with the slash. That slash should be removed.

Seeing the lack of a list, I'll close this one. We can make a new thread if more misplaced reviews show up.
