Speaking of odd crossovers, I found a Daria/Xena: Warrior Princess crossover. The fact that those two are combined at all is weird enough already, but there's also body swapping.

Well, the weirdest ship I've ever seen was a Stargate Atlantis / Star Trek Deep Space Nine crossover. The characters being shipped? Atlantis and Deep Space Nine. The city and the space station. Inanimate objects.

Not necessarily weird, mostly disturbing....and something which angered me to no end.

In the Sherlock section of AO 3 today someone posted a "story" which was an obituary for the owner of the account in question, claiming that the actual owner of the account died in the hospital after getting hit by a truck last week, and this story was a friend who got the password for the account from her. The story had a couple of holes (mainly that the account owner in question was apparently coherent enough after the accident to sort out the legacy of her fanfic account, but was nevertheless too hurt to get rescued by the doctors), so I looked up truck accidents in New Zealand (according to the profile the home country of the writer) and found none about a young woman dying from one this December.

I hate to be mistrustful, but I called the person in question out on it in a comment. Not even half an hour later the story was deleted. That was fast, and cemented my belief that the whole story was made up.

Why do people do this kind of stuff? Using the anonymity of the internet to play on other people sympathies? I used to be way less mistrustful than I am by now.

A Mario/Angel Blade crossover. I'd advise not Googling the latter in a public place if you've never heard of it.

I distinctly remember reading something that tried to be a Trigun/Legend of Zelda crossover in the Legend of Zelda section, and it wasn't even the way *I* would do it. (I made an attempt at a straight crossover once, and abandoned it. The one Lo Z co-write fic I did that has Trigun-ish themes is one of my most reviewed/most successful). No, this was was a Wind Waker crossover featuring Wolfwood waking up in the King of Red Lions and not knowing why he's on the ocean or why there's a little kid who only yelps and grunts running around an island. I backed out of it before reading the rest.

I've seen a few death-announcements on The Fanfiction Network in my fandoms. I wouldn't call them weird so much as said, and what I've seen of late has been pretty tasteful. That is, memorial-fics made to announce a friend in the fandom succumbed to his sickness / "something done because it would have made my sister laugh" - those kind of things that are *actual fics, about the characters in the fandom* that folks apparently write as a bit of self-therapy. Personally, I'd find it kind of weird to have memorial fic written about me and if I ever get sick or something, it's not going to be anything I'd request, but such things are always things that the living do for the living.

This is supposed to be a Regular Show fanfiction; the summary told me everyone was Gender Flipped. What do I get when I open up the fic? I don't even know, but it sure as hell has nothing to do with Regular Show.

Anyway, since we ARE on the topic of Weird. I nominate this SO UNGODLY AWFUL ITS AMAZINGTASTIC Kung Fu Panda fic... ...No its not that Hanna Montana story. Its this really cute Tai Lung AND Po shipping fic. It was really sweet but REALLY CRINGEWORTHY badly written. It all came to a head when its revealed Oogway loves the song "My Sweet Heart" From Tokyo Mew Mew. Yes, a JAPANESE SONG. In Ancient China. Rape of Nanking be damned. But it was really sweet.

Not a story, but I once saw a review for a fic that was just an essay on Lex Luthor's villainy. It wasn't related to the fic at all, as far as I could tell. It was like someone wanted to post some meta, and decided that a random fic's review section was the best place to post it.

I've just realised how commonplace Regular Show Troll Ficscan be.

It actually started off okay... but then it went downhill. Anyway, Brain Bleach please.

Adaptions of plotless games can get weird, but in an interesting way, like this of Bloons.

That was beautiful.

A crossover that shipped Korra...and The Sentry. Lindy was nowhere to be seen and Mako was hit with Ron the death eater into becoming a diabolical mastermind who orchestrated the equalists and vaatu's release...somehow. No reason was ever given.

Norman Osborn was the best man at the wedding. He also got Adaptional Heroism.

There was also a fanfic I remember that involved Luke.Skywalker and whiskey...

It was old hat when someone one-upped it by making it a handicap match with Kamina in Jesus' corner.
