Two??? What's the other one???
... Guardians Of The Galaxy won't be animated, and it will not be produced under Disney's studio. It's part of Marvel's cinematic series and will be included in Phase Two.

Oh
Excuse me...*checks the wikipedia* Oh. And seems like it lacks rocket raccoon.
Well, makes sense since talking alien raccoon in live action film set in serious-ish universe is kiinda silly <_< Still extremely obscure choice. But I guess avengers did have aliens as villains so..*shrugs*

Rocket Raccoon won't be in it? Odd. He'd make for some great CG character animation.
Rocket Raccoon is in the movie. He's in the concept art and everything. They just haven't cast an actor yet.
That's what I thought!
Also, "Guardians of the Galaxy" hasn't been obscure (to comic book fans anyway) since the whole Annihilation Wave crossovers of the early 21st Century.
Now, Big Hero 6, THAT is obscure. It was just a 90's miniseries. And thought I haven't seen it, I'm pretty sure it wasn't set in a "San Fransokyo". What's the point of that? Why not just use the real Tokyo? Are they afraid of coming across as antiJapanese if they use the classic city-crushing Anime Tropes? I doubt it would actually bother the audiences.
I think you're reading too much into a four line synopsis and a picture.
You can still pick out obvious stuff from one clip and a picture. And what we pick out, is that they chose to create a fantasy city by combining two cities together, instead of going by what the comics did! Why???
YMMV on that one, since even then the Guardians didn't sell well enough to maintain an ongoing series. And even then, it's all the same to the general audience, which vastly outnumbers the fans. Most people have never heard of either of these properties.
That's not a bad thing of course, since I like some more obscure characters getting the spotlight.
According to this article [1] the film will be directed by the same guy who directed the Winnie the Pooh movie!?! Also, it mentions that they wanted it to be set "in the real world, with familiar landmarks". That makes the Fransokyo thing make even less sense.
Still, I'm not decrying the film just for that. I think this has the potential to be another Incredibles, one that pays homage to Anime Tropes on top of that. We'll see.
The director of Winnie-The-Pooh was Stephen Anderson, not Don Hall.
Interesting. They changed Hiro's last name to Hamada.

Rocket Raccoon's not only part of the Guardians movie, but the director has said he wants Rocket Raccoon to be the emotional heart of the film.
Great. Now Marvel's going all Kids-Show. Oh well. At least he'll still carry a big gun.

I'm sorry you can't handle some comic book-ness in your comic book movie Shota.

.... guy has some ....... disturbing fascination with raccoons.
Really?
You should see his Facebook page, he posted a couple of pics and videos of raccoons for Research
As for this film, I'm surprised we're actually getting an animated Marvel film from Disney but it looks good so far and it's nice to see them try out obscure material.

I'm on Youtube Reviewing Things Cause I can.Does anyone know if Sunfire can show up in this?
He's the biggest name on the team*, and I'm just wondering if he's tied up by the movie rights for X-Men.
- Though judging from the approach they seem to be using, I don't think that will matter.
Marvel owns the animation rights to all their characters sadly not the movie rights.
So they can use Sunfire in this.
I'm on Youtube Reviewing Things Cause I can. What about Silver Samurai, who is also part of the team (and I guess the second biggest name since he and Sunfire are the only pre-existing characters)?
One Strip! One Strip!..... there's...... a character with ties to the X-Men in this comic???
Yeah. Sunfire was an early opponent of the first X-Men. His parents were hit by the atomic bombing, and he was born a mutant. He was manipulated by his uncle into seeking vengeance against America for Japan losing the war, until Professor Xavier showed him he was being manipulated. He helped rescue the X-Men from Krakoa, but left without joining the new team. He didn't come back to prominence until Big Hero Six.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Great...this is why I'm eager to see how Disney deals with Marvel stories and their habit of tying every franchise in with one another. Would they need to explain back stories from other Marvel characters in other titles?
This is what I was hoping for when Disney bought Marvel; that obscure teams would get time in the sun. I'm looking forward to this.
Seriously though, Disney is producing two animated Marvel films based on obscure super hero teams at same time?
I learned of the other one from comment section of that article with some designs =/ Its the Guardians of the galaxy I mentioned(one of them is fricking rocket raccoon. And now I know where that character from Marvel vs capcom 3 came from)
