I thought you could play a weaker monster via Crop Circles, but you'd lose 2000 life. It said lose 2000 life if you don't play a monster with a level equal to the total levels of the destroyed monster(s)

So, take Monster Reborn for example- it goes 'play Monster Reborn- choose monster to revive- revive monster- send Monster Reborn to grave- continue turn.
