Well, with blip, I wouldn't say that it's illegal to download the site's videos, considering that they actually give you the links to the raw video files in each producer's RSS feed as I mentioned.
As for You Tube, well, the video downloads to one's Temporary Internet Files anyway, so, really, it's gonna end up downloaded either way, just one way is intentional and one isn't.

That is an issue, true. I know blip used to let you download videos directly on a video's page, but I don't know why they took that away.
