Looks like they're making 60s Peter modern Peter's sidekick.

Ten to one odds says the kid eventually ends up either dead after a brief side-kick career, or more likely turns into a supervillain. Just like everyone else in Peter's life.

His name is Andy Macguire? Funny stuff.

Also note how his relationship to his family and faculty is the opposite of Peter.

From Amazing Fantasy#15

Peter's teacher:keep up the good work Parker and you're sure to rate a scholarship when you graduate! Peter:I'll do my best

Compare to Andy's guidance counselor:straight c student. Lousy SA Ts. No extracurriculars.Macguire how do you expect to get to college with this?

Andy:I dunno

This suggest a key difference in their intrinsic motivation.

In other words total bad guy. tongue

^ That seems like an exaggeration. More likely it means Peter will take it upon himself to be a role model to the kid.

I was exaggerating I'm just saying we can expect Andy and Peter to be two very different dudes.

Didn't Peter himself get sexually abused as a kid?

This isn't the first time Spider-man had a sidekick, although his last side kick had Superman like power. I'm guessing this one will be more traditional, like Batman And Robin.

[up][up]That comic wasn't canon, IIRC.

No him getting molested by an older Boy called Skips was referenced in a main Spidey book, so it's canon.

And his Sidekick with Superman Powers was a form of the Super-Skrull as the son of the man who created them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethan_Edwards

[up] Fun fact: the original proposal was that the molester would be Uncle Ben, but thankfully someone in editorial had sense. Also, Mark Millar, in typical Mark Millar fashion, wanted to bring Skip back as a supervillain called "the Buggernaught." Seriously.

Also, Ethan Edwards?

Millar, why... Just why...

[up] I've heard Millar described more than once as "like Ennis, but without any point."

Strictly speaking, a buggernaught would be someone who never engages in sodomy. Not that Millar knows that.

I wish that was a thing because it'd be hilarious. Maybe they can bring back Skips as the Buggernaut in ASM 700.
