Among the current series, one that could be among the greatest is Sakamoto Days, which I'm surprised no one is talking about it: it has great actions, fun battles, good characters and is not pretentious. In Italy, the series was praised by manga critics like Cavernadiplatone, Sommobuta and Kirio 1984 (the latter two even called it "the best battle shonen currently on jump")
There isn't an impossible dream, there are only people who give upWitch Watch, Akane Banashi, PPPPPP, got second, third and fifth places, respectively, in the print manga section.

Earthchild ends… as decently as it could have, I’d say. But man was this whole series a mess.
Maybe a sign that the end is drawing near and the editors want to emphasize new series.

I feel like Oni Bride is trying to do way too much at once. It's a comedy, it's a romance, it's a shounen battle series. Trying to juggle all this, introduce the cast, and get the basic exposition in resulted in a strikingly clunky first chapter. I could see it working once it's done with set-up (the comedy is fairly good), but I didn't really find it interesting enough to want to give more of my time to
Well, it worked for Ayakashi Triangle, which this seems to be a wholesome version of. But like you said, there’s way too much stuff happening too quickly − even the "I don’t remember you" problem is solved in like 10 pages and there’s a buttload of exposition.
On the other hand, the characters all have enough personality that the author manages to make them likeable and distinct despite the rushed introduction. I also really like the character designs and the artstyle in general, as well as the comedic dialogue.
So I’m still reserving my judgement. If the author works to fix the pacing issues, this can actually be pretty good.
Elusive Samurai makes an excellent showing of its unique brand of humor by having a samurai muster strength from fantasizing romantic scenarios with pretty girls.
Aliens Area: goes from boring As You Know level of talking to a sudden bad guy burning things down. Sure, I guess.
As for Oni Bride yeeep way too much happening in the first chapter. For starters it would have been better if it didn’t show how the MC and the bride met as kids right from the start. Art style is nice and cute, though.

Frankly, I think phasing away from the long-running battle shounen model is better from a more subjective quality standpoint as well. The weekly schedule of WSJ is simply too brutal and frequently leads to authors suffering from burnout and health issues long term, which subsequently often results in long hiatuses and/or lower quality art and storytelling. Not everyone can be like Oda and keep momentum going for so long.
