On Terra: it was explained in the tie-in comics that yes it was Terra in the finale bu they left it ambiguous as to whether she forgot everything or was just pretending to have forgotten. The issue also introduced Geo Force and showed Terra's origin like where she ran away from in the first place.
Back to the shorts: so...uhhh...did anyone see the one with Blackfire with her new hubby and kids? I wasn't sure whether to laugh or throw up after seeing that clip.
...Kinda impossible what with Marvel being owned by Disney and DC being owned by Time Warner.
As someone who grew up watching the original Teen Titans series, I have to say I'm not a big fan of the new designs, or of the idea that it's going to be more focused on comedy than on action. That being said, I don't think it's unreasonable to want action considering the fact that it's a cartoon where the main characters are superheros.
Additionally, to those who say that us fans of Teen Titans who are upset about these changes need to get over it, and that we shouldn't have expected a total revival, I offer this as a rebuttal; if the people who made the cartoon didn't want us to compare the two, they shouldn't have made them so outwardly similar. It has the same main characters (in spite of the fact that Robin, Raven, Starfire, Beast Boy, and Cyborg are far from the only incarnation of the Teen Titans to exist), with very similar designs, even including Silkie who (unless I'm very much mistaken) only existed in the previous Teen Titans cartoon.
If they wanted to make another Teen Titans series with a different formula, that's fine. But they should have used different characters (or at least changed their appearances more), because as it stands this new series seems like it's just going to serve as a constant reminder of what we lost and will never get back. Granted, the same people (me included) still probably wouldn't have been satisfied even if they had used different characters or otherwise made it differ more from the original in terms of art style, but it would have felt like less of a slap in the face.
Also, despite my love of Teen Titans, I hated the last show's ending, and it's not because I didn't get it; it's because it wasn't an ending. When a show ends, and you know it's ending, you want closure... and that doesn't necessarily mean something drastic like defeating Slade and ensuring peace in the city forever or anything, but it would have been nice to have an explanation of what the creature was and actually showing the team beating it, rather than leaving the whole thing open-ended. I find it insulting when others imply that people who found the ending unsatisfying "didn't get it". I got it, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

You mean this one?
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Anyway, the main reason this revival exists in the first place is because fans wouldn't shut up about wanting a continuation when there was already a show going on that filled that niche. To avoid conflicting interests and straight up repeating the same exact subject matter in a single block, they instead threw the fans a bone the best way they could by making it a gag series. Makes sense to me.
It goes back to the whole "move on" kind of thing: the writers have moved on, DC's Animation Department has moved on, etc, etc. They're reinterpreting the idea the same way superhero shows always are - every 7-10 years (sometimes sooner) a new show comes out looking at it in a new way: that's Young Justice to Teen Titans (Young Justice essentially being the comic Teen Titans plus Young Justice mixed with a bit of the Outsiders). But the Teen Titans animated fanbase has always been unusually large, and adamant on itself. While it's refreshing to see that it still has life after all these years, a lot of them still deal with things regarding the show in a markedly immature way. I'm sorry if it offends you, but I still reiterate the whole "fans just didn't want to get it" bit regarding the ending - the writers were clearly going for a certain kind of closure, and the fans just didn't want to understand: possibly because they wanted everything to fall in line neatly (and that's why I want the new show to not even remotely approach "resolving" the Terra thing, because I really liked what the writers were doing there and don't want to see them ruin it by caving in). As for a new installation of the show - people demanded it, even when DC Animation was clearly deciding to go in a new direction. They kept demanding it, and kept demanding it, and eventually someone decided "let's try and give them something, even if we're developing other ideas at the moment.
So as for this show, I'll just say this: sometimes, you don't get what you ask for. Sometimes, when you don't realize you simply can't get what you want, you are unable to realize that you're only going to get what people can give you.
The failure to realize this is why the uproar against the new show is so amusing to me, in a "the fanbase got what you ask for, but really should've thought for a minute about what they were asking for" kind of way. But it's this kind of thing that gives fanbases reputations for being unpleasable.
So for this new show, my attitude is thus: "serves 'em right, deal with it, enjoy what you could get in the way you could get it."

Makes me really glad I never wished for anything other than a straight-up continuation... now I can gripe about the revival (assuming it turns out to be as goofy as it looks) without sounding hypocritical.
Now see, there's a difference between "didn't get it" and "didn't want to get it". "Didn't want to get it" implies that yes, a portion of the fanbase did see where they were going, just didn't appreciate it (which they are perfectly entitled to do without others insinuating it's because they don't understand).
It's the difference between saying that people who didn't like the ending to Animorphs didn't like it because they fail to understand the cyclical nature of war and peace, and saying that they didn't like it because they just didn't like it as an ending.
Exactly. While granted he could have handled it better, he was still clearly saying "I really want to help you, but you need to give me something to work with."
I kind of bugs me that so many saw it as him saying "I'm throwing your butt in jail unless you give me a reason not to," which would be highly out of character for Rob. Naturally, their thinking so helps with the Character Derailment in fanfics... sigh...
Yeah I was reading a fic once (just a general/non-shipping fic about BB) and it was really good. The spelling and grammar were good, the writer really deconstructed BB's character, the interactions between BB and the others were in character and OC's were only civilians whom the titans saved and then they didn't show up again.
It was good...until chpt 5. Were all the sudden Robin became a raging asshole who made Star cry and kicked BB of the team for no reason...because the author thought it was dramatic and used "Beast Within" of an example of Robin acting that way in cannon.
And of course there were like 20 people who thought it was good writing (you know fandumb and all) and the others called out the author on it. The comments with criticism were deleted about 4 days after their post and I never read another one of that person's stories ever again.
Ah, was recently rekindling my interest in the Teen Titans animated series. I remember I didn't recognize any characters other than Robin(I guess this show is really Adaptation Displacement). Grew fond of the animesque style, and appreciate the character arcs on the show. Each characters has their share of flaws(i.e. Robin isn't always just being the harsh jerk).
I treat all living things equally. That is to say, I eat all living thingsHey, has there been a character arc about Starfire in the comics(the comics specifically based on this show that is)? It's been noted in a few places(like the YMMV page) that Starfire's the only titan who doesn't really get a season to herself.
I also do wish we could see Robin and Beast Boy interacting more(they literally read my mind
). Part of its because they're my two favorite titans, but they do have a nice contrast.
You mean Teen Titans Go, and not the 1981 Titans? Here's a list.
Most of the stories are amusing one-shots rather than full plotlines, though. Probably kind of like what the upcoming show is going to do.
