This thread's for talking about the Marvel Comics line, whether the comics are decades old or brand new.
As well as the superhero tales of the Marvel Universe, that also includes all the other things Marvel's done (Epic Comics, Icon Comics, Star Comics and all the rest), as well as the older stories by Atlas and Timely, the companies that later became Marvel.
Acquisitions like Malibu Comics and Miracleman are also on-topic, as are the licensed 20th Century Studios titles, the Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Zoids and Transformers comics, and all of the comics created locally by regional imprints like Marvel UK and Marvel Italia.
- We have dedicated threads for some groups of titles (such as Spider-Man and the X-Men). You can still discuss them here, but you might want to use the more specific threads.
- We also have threads for Indiana Jones
, Star Wars
, Predator
and some of the other franchises. Sometimes it may be more useful to discuss the comics there rather than here — but they're still on-topic and there's no hard rule.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about them here.
Discussions that are only about Marvel adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics (e.g. if comparing Marvel to a DC story). When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).
So apparently,
they're making a Black Panther movie. Let's hope Hudlin is kept as far away as possible. On a related note, anyone think that the whole 'Super Hero that is also a King/Ruler' is kind of ridiculous? I mean where do heroes like Aquaman and T'Challa find the time to both lead a nation and go gallavanting on the other side of the globe?

It's always nice to see NEXTWAVE references.

The the Darkhold mini event has hit unlimited and holy crap the Iron Man one shot
Definitely the best of the bunch I’ve read so far (alpha, blade, black bolt, iron man). Body horror suspense is not the tone you expect from Ryan North but damn if he didn’t write something EC comics would blanch at
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI enjoyed what I read of Darkhold, fun Halloweeny Marvel series. Seeing alternate takes of heroes is always fun, I'm glad this wasn't a huge years long series like Dark Knights: Metal. The evil hero/villain mash ups in the current Avengers run is really fun too. Who knew the Red Skull could be even more evil, just give him a symbiote!
In Avengers guest appearances it’s often Cap, Tony, Carol, and Thor
Black Panther often gets left out. Robbie oftener.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSpeaking of Avengers' roster, Avengers #54 hot off the digital presses.
The attacks by the Multiversal Masters of Evil continue and they manage to kill all the Deathloks that came here to warn the Avengers. Well, Jane Foster saves one but he's catatonic and accidentally transferred into the blown up dead alien mountain.
Phoenix Echo convinces Thor to release the fire powers he totally has as a son of Phoenix, sure, and the two of them drive off Phoenix Masque and kill her pet Thor. But she ominously implies that tapping into Phoenix powers is what led her corrupt her Thor. Phoenix.
Mephisto forces Doom Supreme to fork over the Watcher's eyeball he took from the Orb but Doom spitefully bites into it first. Which, ew.
There's AN explanation for Starbrand Not Baby Brandy's jumps in age. She's basically burning up her lifespan by tapping into her power. So now I have an idea how Jason Aaron is going to write her out when the time comes but I don't like it.
Anyway, roster. She-Hulk quit to enjoy being her more iconic self again and be in Reckoning War. Blade quit to commit police violence on vampires as the vampire sheriff of Chernobyl. And a Deathlok kidnapped Robbie Reyes to an alternate Earth to headline Avengers Forever. So new roster has Black Panther, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Thor, Namor (although nobody is happy about it), Starbrand Brandy probably, Phoenix Echo, and probably Valkyrie.
Side note, I had wondered what it would take for Captain America to stop treating Namor like its they're old Nazi punching band of brothers days. Well, apparently right about now when Namor is trying to make amends is when Steve has run out of patience with him and tells him that he's not on the team as a friend but in their custody. Black Panther tells Namor that he's of course even more pissed at Namor than Steve is but also a lot more practical about needing Namor's help given everything going on.
Feels like about time the roster shifted. Its been pretty static and the Avengers should feel more dynamic in my opinion. Phoenix and Starbrand were obvious given the Ancient Powers Avengers 1000000 BC thing thats been a running thing. Valkyrie and Namor are less expected but should be fun.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSo with a roster shakeup, I'm thinking Aaron is going to keep going to Issue #100.
It dawned on me with the Gail Simone/Jessica Jones book that Marvel is pretty overtly honing in on the Variants concept since that has been the big thing with the MCU now. When I first saw those Miles and Gwen books minis get announced I thought they were just for the sake of having indirect trades for the Spider-Verse sequels, but those are also books about variants too.
While it's well deserved and good that Steve is done with him, it also sounds more like a drama choice than anything else. Steve is rejecting Namor because Namor is not being a douche, and now we can keep up that tension and drama.
One Strip! One Strip!![]()
Interesting if that does happen
I can’t see him replacing Black Panther as leader even if he joins because the Avengers wouldn’t trust him the way they do T’Challa.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI can never think about Nighthawk without remembering how he got roasted in I Don't Need Your Civil War.
The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]the trial of the watcher its a what if uatu never interferes. without his interference galactus does mess up the world, reed get partially melted, johnny gets burned from going beyond nova, and sue gets blinded but reed manages to actually kill galactus by reversing the food processing and poisons him. the surfer then runs off to enjoy his freedom and reed makes the world a utopia
They forgot the scene where the FF discuss their victory with Superman and Batman in the cafe.
Oh, wait, it's not that type of what if...
Ultimate Secret WarsAvengers Forever #4 because it just came out
Infinite Red Skulls pouring out of a portal all wanting to kick hero ass and claim Black Skull's world for themselves winds up being less of a big deal than you'd think. First, Thor's Granddaughters show up, just crashing a boat into the plot, but then Robbie Rider just shoves all the Red Skulls back through the portals and locks them out. Then he and local Wonder Man murder all of Black Skull's enforcers, the Granddaughters of Thunder make it rain for the first time in ever to start healing the wasteland, Infinity Thing plans to rebuild the world, and off to the next leg of the journey. The thunder goddesses fuck off on a multiversal scavenger hunt to find all the pieces of Phoenix Wolverine because why not (they've got two arms in just this issue so far). Anthony-Man joins Robbie Rider and Deathlok's party because he wants to look for his Moon Knight and Vision who disappeared through one of the portals during the confusion. And those two wound up joining up with the still unseen Avenger Prime's multiversal Avengers including Captain Carter, some manner of Hawkeye, and an Iron Widow who has a better armor design than the War Widow one.
There's a lot of moving pieces and it doesn't really cohere into A Story itself. It's an epilogue that's also trying to set up a dozen future things. Some of the bits are good but its a breadcrumbs story. It's a between issue.

Phrased more clearly, Marvel editors have joined the Disney walkout that protests Disney's support of Florida's "Don't Say Gay" bill, which orders Florida public schools to not discuss gender identity or non-hetero sexuality.

And the SHIELD agent Jessica technically.
