This thread's for talking about the Marvel Comics line, whether the comics are decades old or brand new.
As well as the superhero tales of the Marvel Universe, that also includes all the other things Marvel's done (Epic Comics, Icon Comics, Star Comics and all the rest), as well as the older stories by Atlas and Timely, the companies that later became Marvel.
Acquisitions like Malibu Comics and Miracleman are also on-topic, as are the licensed 20th Century Studios titles, the Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Zoids and Transformers comics, and all of the comics created locally by regional imprints like Marvel UK and Marvel Italia.
- We have dedicated threads for some groups of titles (such as Spider-Man and the X-Men). You can still discuss them here, but you might want to use the more specific threads.
- We also have threads for Indiana Jones
, Star Wars
, Predator
and some of the other franchises. Sometimes it may be more useful to discuss the comics there rather than here — but they're still on-topic and there's no hard rule.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about them here.
Discussions that are only about Marvel adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics (e.g. if comparing Marvel to a DC story). When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).
So apparently,
they're making a Black Panther movie. Let's hope Hudlin is kept as far away as possible. On a related note, anyone think that the whole 'Super Hero that is also a King/Ruler' is kind of ridiculous? I mean where do heroes like Aquaman and T'Challa find the time to both lead a nation and go gallavanting on the other side of the globe?

I read the first three issues on unlimited recently. It is very good and Galactus’ mom has got it going on.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAgreed. I believe at best, they were friends with benefits at one point, but Janet made it clear she'd never get back together with Hank.
Frankly, the fact they are even still friends is miracle enough. I'm sure on some level Hank knows that as well.
One Strip! One Strip!....I don't know enough to know how it was...
...oh right. Marrying him when he was having a nervous breakdown while in the Yellowjacket guise and didn't remember he was Hank Pym.
Ok, never mind.
One Strip! One Strip!I still find it darkly hilarious that him hitting Janet is the part he couldn't live down even though he did worse on that same day.
Building a Killer Robot to attack my friends so I could gain cred by saving them from it (and then flubbing the save)? Water under the bridge.
Hitting my wife? Unforgivable!
Granted, this is almost certainly because the former is just more comicbook shenanigans, while the latter is a bit too real.
Disgusted, but not surprisedI honestly think reality can damage comics and the ability to suspend your disbelief.
Like, in some cases it can enhance it, but they always go for the worst way to insert realism into comics....if that makes sense.
While at the same time undermining their premise with their real problems bullshit.
One Strip! One Strip!I’m still surprised that the bits around the hit are actually worse in a way nobody really talks about
But yeah in one of the post Busiek pre Bendis runs, Janet and Hank get busy and freaky with their powers in Las Vegas but in the same story Janet says she doesn’t think they can ever be in a serious relationship again. Which makes Hank sad but that’s how it is, Hank.
Hank himself thought they shouldn’t be together again after the Trial of Yellowjacket ended. So time makes fools of him all.
Weirdly in the Busiek run, they were looking like they would get back together. But Busiek’s run was retro in that way.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThere's a reason for it but the reason is bad and gross.
When Tigra and Hank were on the West Coast Avengers together, she was super incredibly horny because of cat soul and jumped his bones.
For some reason, that eventually, with time and distance, became a healthy relationship in the Avengers Academy days. And also with Hank Skrull, I guess.

Englehart, man. His books always had weird shit regarding female sexuality. But his handling of Tigra in WCA was particularly gross.

Connecting Jonah to media outlets who are received the way his articles were in the original story, and who have the kind of wealth and success that Jonah had to begin with, is a modernization that hits on what was there originally.
EDITED so that this is more readable as a page-topper.
