This thread's for talking about the Marvel Comics line, whether the comics are decades old or brand new.
As well as the superhero tales of the Marvel Universe, that also includes all the other things Marvel's done (Epic Comics, Icon Comics, Star Comics and all the rest), as well as the older stories by Atlas and Timely, the companies that later became Marvel.
Acquisitions like Malibu Comics and Miracleman are also on-topic, as are the licensed 20th Century Studios titles, the Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Zoids and Transformers comics, and all of the comics created locally by regional imprints like Marvel UK and Marvel Italia.
- We have dedicated threads for some groups of titles (such as Spider-Man and the X-Men). You can still discuss them here, but you might want to use the more specific threads.
- We also have threads for Indiana Jones
, Star Wars
, Predator
and some of the other franchises. Sometimes it may be more useful to discuss the comics there rather than here — but they're still on-topic and there's no hard rule.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about them here.
Discussions that are only about Marvel adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics (e.g. if comparing Marvel to a DC story). When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).
So apparently,
they're making a Black Panther movie. Let's hope Hudlin is kept as far away as possible. On a related note, anyone think that the whole 'Super Hero that is also a King/Ruler' is kind of ridiculous? I mean where do heroes like Aquaman and T'Challa find the time to both lead a nation and go gallavanting on the other side of the globe?

Just like that.
Woman can drop a tornado your face. Did they just poison her while she was eating or something?

One Strip! One Strip!True, but your're still flipping a big coin that said bullet will reach her before she lightning bolts/snowstorm/tornado/hurricanes/You get the damn point's you in the face.
Poison is safer. You just slip it into her dinner, walk away and wait for shit to go down.
One Strip! One Strip!Yes and like every X-Men Storm can be caught off guard, dogpiled, or overpowered as long as they get one good hit in. She's not invincible. Like a spellcaster she actually needs to cast her spells. She's not Photon or Captain Marvel where physical being is something beyond normal humanity.

Democracy in Wakanda has been a bigger disaster than several real life countries who have trouble transitioning. It's fucking hilarious.
Honestly probably the most annoying thing about Ketema is how this is going to motivate people to go "see white Black Panther can be done after all."
Plus you know this kid is going to get an annoying ride or die fandom that is disproportionately sympathetic to him like John Walker fans.
I have no idea where John Walker stans even come from. I'm not even saying Walker is a terrible character, but he does not warrant this much attention.

At least in the comics, John Walker is awful and eminently hateable. Which is definitely part of his appeal. For the comic readers who like him, I suspect they just enjoy how much conflict he causes just by being around.
The show had him kill a dude, right? So no surprise that there were certain viewers who loved him.
As for a White Black Panther, if nothing else, people can now point to this comic whenever chuds bring up that argument in discussions of race-bending.

X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.I wouldn't really say comics Walker is awful and hatable.
He threads the line between his admitted conservative values but he is generally portrayed as decent guy at heart if very flawed. He is more of a flawed asshole but who has the potential to be good.
I believe Willaim Burnside is the hatesink Cap.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Walker's been across the board. As you say, a lot of the time he's a flawed but reasonable guy who happens to be small-c conservative and exists to show that not everyone is able to replace Steve Rogers.
But sometimes he's a straw man, an antihero or just a complete dick. And I'm not sure he's ever really had a fandom of his own, even when he was the Captain America false lead or in a miniseries.
(Is his old partner Battlestar still about?)

With MCU Walker its sort of a weird thing cause it more got magnified due to Thunderbolts.
Honestly it handled his character better than the show because it makes him a more flawed person who suffers actual consequences for his behaviour unlike the end of the show.
Spoilers for the movie Walker is disgraced his reputation in ruins after his execution of the Flagsmasher. His obsession and depression over his failed rep drives away his wife and she leaves him, taking away their son. Walker as a result is a lonely sad man with nothing but he hides it with obnoxious bravado and machismo.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Discourse around MCU Walker has a big problem with a lack of nuance. Yes, he killed a man who was surrendering, and that should not be in dispute. At the same time, the way his harshest critics talk about him, you'd think he did it while yelling "Heil, Hydra!".
Walker is neither a saint nor a monster, is my point.
I was a fan of his but part of the characters appeal was being the designated asshole on the team when Hawkeye wasn't. In the team books, you always had archetypes and the loudmouth at least had a personality.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. The new issue is Immortal Thor is out and we find out how Thor meets his end.
It's Thor's last stand, holding back the entire horde of Utgard from invading all of creation. He battles the endless legion of the city, he battles the hooded God Mejed, and in the end he succeeds. He drives back the horde, he defeats Mejed, he stands victorious without dying. Thor Madd sure no one died, Skurge still lives, Heimdall is saved, and Sif arrives. The sight of her makes Thor realizes how much he truly loves her, how he wants to spend the rest of his life with her.
Annnnd Loki backstabs him with the Eternity arrow.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
As first dub Vegeta once said, being a good villain is like being a photographer. you have to pick the right moment.
Or to put it in simpler terms, !@#$% YOU LOKI!!!
One Strip! One Strip!Honestly, not a huge surprise.
Loki was narrating this story. They made it clear for a while that it was going to lead up to Thor's death. And how exactly would they know it would end that way?
Because they were planning to kill him all along.

Disgusted, but not surprised

The game might have a few Capcom Guest Fighters at least.
Please remember that, ultimately, fictional works of entertainment are just that.
