This thread's for talking about the Marvel Comics line, whether the comics are decades old or brand new.
As well as the superhero tales of the Marvel Universe, that also includes all the other things Marvel's done (Epic Comics, Icon Comics, Star Comics and all the rest), as well as the older stories by Atlas and Timely, the companies that later became Marvel.
Acquisitions like Malibu Comics and Miracleman are also on-topic, as are the licensed 20th Century Studios titles, the Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Zoids and Transformers comics, and all of the comics created locally by regional imprints like Marvel UK and Marvel Italia.
- We have dedicated threads for some groups of titles (such as Spider-Man and the X-Men). You can still discuss them here, but you might want to use the more specific threads.
- We also have threads for Indiana Jones
, Star Wars
, Predator
and some of the other franchises. Sometimes it may be more useful to discuss the comics there rather than here — but they're still on-topic and there's no hard rule.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about them here.
Discussions that are only about Marvel adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics (e.g. if comparing Marvel to a DC story). When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).
So apparently,
they're making a Black Panther movie. Let's hope Hudlin is kept as far away as possible. On a related note, anyone think that the whole 'Super Hero that is also a King/Ruler' is kind of ridiculous? I mean where do heroes like Aquaman and T'Challa find the time to both lead a nation and go gallavanting on the other side of the globe?

Immortal Thor to relaunch this August as just Thor
The Norse Myths tell of Gods who walked the Earth, doing great deeds for the mortals who believed in them. But Asgard isn’t real, and never was. The Gods never soared in our skies, never stood with our heroes, never fought for kindness or justice. It was all just a story. Nobody’s coming to help us. But somewhere in the city… a man is waking up.
A man with a hammer.
Ewing is still writing but Pasqual Ferry is on art who I hope is a huge improvement from Jan Bazaldua's work.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Ultimates #12most of it is doom arguing for changing time to save them and they agree to trust him about this but the way they are doing stuff isn't working. Tony can't see any future beyond white when the maker gets out, and doom admits he, Tony, and Steve shouldn't just lead so they agree to ultimates 3.0 to make real change like America and Luke have. And it's revealed the traitor is Janet who is told she and Hank will be saved, even though she had seen she had been killed in that defunct timeline
Newest issue of Moon Knight
When Khonshu claims to be the greatest God of God's, its not a boast. Motherfucker really lives up to it.
It's like how every Iron Man run advertises how status quo breaking it is despite the fact being breaking is the status quo and has been for some time now.
So Steampunk Iron Man is done, is it?
Eh. I'm sure they can find another way for Tony to lose his company and have to struggle to get it back.
One Strip! One Strip!Latest issue does end with Tony giving the Stark Union 3 seats on the board of directors.
They started protesting again cause of the new shift to making stuff for Doom and Tony had to quickly solve it because their protesting halted production and fucking up his plans.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Dammit Tony!
Figure out a way to not make people think you're corrupt!
You've been heroing for years! Why are you so bad at this?
Or just give all your money to charity and work for the people instead, helping them build shit.
One Strip! One Strip!
His period where he ran a consultation firm was pretty interesting, so there's precedence.
Exactly.
Do that. Tony's smart enough that you can build an Iron Man Suit even without wealth. He can easily find a way to fund a more advanced suit if needed and then he wouldn't have to re-claim his company again.
Also, I've been wondering if Tony being revealed to be Iron Man worked in his favor or not. Because before, they saw Tony Stark, the rich industrialist, and Iron Man the hero, but after he revealed himself, any feelings people had towards Tony got directed at Iron Man instead, and considering how often people assume the worst about him due to his wealth, I'm not sure if that was a good move on his part.

Technically he did that this issue by saving the union protestors from being attacked by strike breakers, and then gave 3 board seats when the union leader only asked for 1.
Though it turns out the protest was engineered by Nat who diverted funds to the union because he thinks Tony's plan is a bad idea.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
Eh. I'm sure they'll kick him out of the company and take control because they think they can do better and Tony can't be trusted.
Tony's too rich for factory workers to give him that much benefit of the doubt, even if he tries to do right by them.
At least he tries though.
One Strip! One Strip!"I fell a mile and broke my back"
"Sounds like a you problem"
"I had to wrest control of the company away from literal demons"
"Wow, first world problems much?"
Natasha can't call dibs on Russia! She defected! Multiple times!

Forever liveblogging the Avengers![]()
I mean, that's only because we've been watching what Tony is going through.
To this guy, it just sounds like he's making more excuses. I read the issue, and a bunch of guys in Stark uniforms just attacked them. This is also the second time he's met Tony in these circumstances.
Is it fair? No, but that's how it is. Does Ramon obviously think this way due to Tony's wealth, and the increasing divide between not just superheroes and civilians, but also the wealthy and those who aren't wealthy? More than likely.
Now, there are probably ways for Tony to get by this, and he's constantly trying to do the right thing. Ramon only asked for one seat, and Tony gave him three, after all. Unfortunately, the laws of drama demand that something else will happen that will make Ramon continue to distrust Tony.
One Strip! One Strip!I mean the Union Guy in issue 1# was first protesting Tony trying to stop making Sentinels.
Now he's protesting making weapons for Doom?
Fuck this guy and his hypocrisy.
Or does it just not matter if he's making them for killing mutants.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. As he puts it, they want a choice in what they are constructing.
They wanted to keep working on Sentinel tech because they don't like having to constantly change what they are making. Which is why they are protesting again because Tony made a new change in what they are producing.
Which is yeah pretty selfish in how he doesn't care that the Sentinels are genocide machines. All he cares about is convenience for himself and his workers.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."

The solo books are actually selling quite well by comparison.
Magik, Phoenix, Storm, are all selling about as well or better than some of the 3 main team books. Psylocke is also still going.
Magik in particular is selling fantastically, making the most of the ongoings.
The characters immense popularity has finally been capitalized.
