This thread's for talking about the Marvel Comics line, whether the comics are decades old or brand new.
As well as the superhero tales of the Marvel Universe, that also includes all the other things Marvel's done (Epic Comics, Icon Comics, Star Comics and all the rest), as well as the older stories by Atlas and Timely, the companies that later became Marvel.
Acquisitions like Malibu Comics and Miracleman are also on-topic, as are the licensed 20th Century Studios titles, the Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Zoids and Transformers comics, and all of the comics created locally by regional imprints like Marvel UK and Marvel Italia.
- We have dedicated threads for some groups of titles (such as Spider-Man and the X-Men). You can still discuss them here, but you might want to use the more specific threads.
- We also have threads for Indiana Jones
, Star Wars
, Predator
and some of the other franchises. Sometimes it may be more useful to discuss the comics there rather than here — but they're still on-topic and there's no hard rule.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about them here.
Discussions that are only about Marvel adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics (e.g. if comparing Marvel to a DC story). When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).
So apparently,
they're making a Black Panther movie. Let's hope Hudlin is kept as far away as possible. On a related note, anyone think that the whole 'Super Hero that is also a King/Ruler' is kind of ridiculous? I mean where do heroes like Aquaman and T'Challa find the time to both lead a nation and go gallavanting on the other side of the globe?

I believe that most of them also had Frank become a priest. It's funny because that is basically the premise of Hitman 2.
But I think the problem with the above is that it kind of lacks any resolution.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.I will say its hilarious how Blade attempted a dig against Nighthawk's Batmaness with a line "Little rich kid like you only had one day, well all my days are bad days."
Only for Nighthawk to respond with the even better line "Blade the vampire hunter. Ya know why there are no more vampires left on Earth?" and he then proceeds to curb-stomp his ass.
Oh yeah Blade, all those bad days sure showed him.
It makes narrative sense for Blade to get his ass beat too
Hyperion managed, despite being weakened by vibranium kryptonite, to also punch Thor to the horizon. And Hyperion and Nighthawk are established as ongoing threats, like some kind of dynamic terror two-o, when the rest of the squadron is imprisoned.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAs always Superman and Batman are the last ones standing.
There is literally a page designed to showcase that regardless of how hard the Squadron get their asses beat, Hyperion and Nighthawk will always stand indomitable.
Its actually rather sweet in a way as despite their constant differences and conflicts like Civil War, Hyperion and Nighthawk admit to each other that they truly are the World's Greatest Duo indeed.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Also I like that Doctor Spectrum is the only one who suffers a true Humiliation Conga because he was the vilest of the 5. Power Princess and Nighthawk pretty much stayed true to form while Hyperion and Blur was treated more tragically.
Zarda was a Blood Knight through and through so I don't think there was much that was going to shake her. And Nighthawk is just nuts. I think the fact that he's on his own trying to reclaim a reality that was never real is more sad than anything else.
Granted Zarda was also defined her immeasurable narcissism and ego. All her life she basically lived with her head in her ass, thinking shes the greatest thing since sliced bread and killing everything she ever fought in curb-stomps every time.
She strikes me as someone who only enjoys combat if shes winning. When she starts losing she'll then again "What I demand I rematch! You cheated, no one can beat me! I am a fucking God and you should all worship me!"
Which I think is a bit of a wasted moment. Not emphasizing that the Squadron is actually struggling and panicking to varying degrees to the fact they are actually getting beaten.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The people I've talked to who've read it say that it's underwhelming, that many of the stories involve an LGBT character having to deal with bigotry, and that Daken is given a baffling amount of focus considering that he's kind of terrible as a representative of the LGBT community.
By now, it should be clear to all except the most dense of us that sheep are secretly conspiring to kill us all and steal our pants.I also notice that Hyperion and Nighthawk were the two squad peeps to have a backstory event explaining why they were dicks. A cynicism catalyst or whatever
The brooding of the Imperial Guard for Hyperion and the death of Falcon for Nighthawk.
Zarda and Doc Spectrum were just kinda awful for their whole lives. And Blur was the token not as much of a jerk and even he gets his irreverent attitude maybe explained by having One More Hell To Pay in his backstory.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersHow was that by comparison?
A lot of people seemed to like that one, because it included actual fan-favorites like Renee Montoya and Nia Nal. It probably helps that Nia got her own story, and she's one of the few prominent trans characters in comics. By contrast, Marvel chose to represent the trans community with a She-Hulk fangirl and an obscure character few people have heard of.
By now, it should be clear to all except the most dense of us that sheep are secretly conspiring to kill us all and steal our pants.

Alright finally read Heroes Reborn Finale.
Well that was underwhelming. Good thing this event went by quick cause that was some lackluster pay-off.
I will say Zarda should have been beaten down more. She and Spectrum were the most obnoxiously vile of the Squadron and only the latter suffered a true breakdown. Especially notable in the lockup scene were while Blur and Spectrum are openly sobbing Zarda is fighting back with that same irritating smug grin she always has.
Though hilarious that Hyperion actually did think of Peter as a friend. That is so pathetically sad considering Peter despises him for killing Aunt May and even then Hyperion never gave him the time of day.
