He may just be trying to be tactful.
There was probably a time when Peter would have been far less chill about it.
Remember, he used to be a bit of an hot headed ass.
One Strip! One Strip! He may just be trying to be tactful.
There was probably a time when Peter would have been far less chill about it.

It may have also been a symptom of the lets dunk on Peter's whole philosophy attitude that was kinda prevalent back then, where people would point out the flaws in his belief to show how much smarter they were
One Strip! One Strip!...why the double post?
I legit have no idea what's Gert's point.
Like yeah a lot of people with power aren't responsible about it, which is the entire point of the saying because you have to be responsible about it if you do have power.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
I think I just screwed up somehow.
She may have just been giving him shit for the sake of it. Like, she does hate super-heroes in general right?
One Strip! One Strip!Yes
Forever liveblogging the AvengersPotential future leader of the Avengers yawl.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I thought it would be pretty obvious. Her point is great power does not come with great responsibility, which is true, and kids like her had to be the responsible ones and clean up their elders' mess, even if they had nowhere near the power. That is literally what she and her friends went through a few months ago. It's cynical, but based on her real-world experiences.
But that’s already what the mantra is about
It’s like if Peter said “every time god closes a door he opens a window” and Gert retorted “yeah but sometimes doors are closed, ever think of that, asshole?”
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAnd it sounds really stupid, anyway.
You'd think Peter would be the kind of guy who, when running into his past self, or someone close enough, would have to do all he could to resist the urge to just giving them a new concussion.

Wake me up at your own risk.Yeah that was the interpretation I had as well. That while Great Power does come with great responsibility, not everyone with it would actually handle their great power with great responsibility.
That isn't to say I agree with her. The existence of supervillains, people with great power but not using it responsibly, doesn't mean that people shouldn't be responsible with power.
Well their teenagers, who cares what children think.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."...I really don't think Gert's point was they shouldn't be responsible. I think her point was they should be, but aren't, which leaves the less powerful to take up the responsibility of cleaning up their mess.

I'm 22, I'm not some old guy screaming at clouds so I can say "Screw what the kids think".
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I should read some ye olde iron man. It’s a blind spot in my reading
Plus: the iron skates are cool and I’ll brook no disagreement
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI always liked when he came back with the new armour he used to curb stomp that Firepower dude.
That was a good moment for Tony after he burned a lot of bridges during Armour Wars.
One Strip! One Strip! Then Gert is literally missing Spider-Man's point which makes sense as she's there to pick a fight. Of course, Gert has always been the one least interested in the superhero thing versus Nico.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. The Iron Skates are cool, but hedge-clippers tunneling through the earth because "transistors" is kinda silly.
That same issue had Iron Man using magnets to divert mini-nukes so they explode "harmlessly" into the sky, because Stan Lee clearly had no idea how dangerous nukes really were.
Or Gert's just being deeply cynical there.
Also, why Nico? She's never been any more gung ho about superheroes than Gert is.

She was part of A-Force for a bit.
Though there was that whole thing during Civil War II where Carol tried to arrest her, so I don't know if that soured her again.
One Strip! One Strip!I really liked that arc of A-Force. It had Nico and Carol actually having good points and reconciling at the end, and brought back Bloodstone with her Nextwave personality.
But if you're going by contrasts, especially for superheroes it should really Gert and Victor, a huge fan of all things Superhero and the only guy who had any clue who Doc Justice is, who is heavily implied to be a has-been that barely anyone under 30 has ever heard of.
Edited by drac0blade on Apr 6th 2021 at 5:26:11 AM
To be fair, she was pretty much dragged into A-Force when they crashed her cousin's wedding.

By now, it should be clear to all except the most dense of us that sheep are secretly conspiring to kill us all and steal our pants.
That's good to hear. And surprising considering how....authoritarian Carol was during that arc.
That's a little less good to hear.
One Strip! One Strip!Going back to classic Iron Man — one issue that stands out for me is the one when Doctor Strange — no, not that one, a totally different guy — brainwashes Iron Man into freeing him from prison.
I think my favorite part is the guards all automatically assume Iron Man must be hypnotized and therefore Shellhead doesn't face any repercussions for this at all.
And isn't that just typical? Spider-man single-handedly saves a space capsule from crashing, only to be accused of staging the whole thing. Meanwhile, Iron Man breaks into fucking federal state prison and everyone's all, "Oh, obviously he was under mind-control. We're not even going to press charges or anything, because how could we possibly suspect a hero like Iron Man?!"
Edited by drac0blade on Apr 6th 2021 at 6:15:57 AM
Wow.
Like, I don't even think Tony has that level of credibility these days.
Hard to believe there was a time when people thought that highly of Iron Man.
One Strip! One Strip!
I don’t get Spidey’s sweet dunk about her becoming an Avenger. Is he applying some sarcasm or something?
