Like I said, for all Ennis is accused of being reactionary and fascist, he also does have a marked history of portraying the establishment, its enforcers and authority figures as incompetent when not downright evil and making fun of them.
His issues do tend to be his grotesque subject matter and the fact his hatred of superheroes stretches into outright hypocrisy with how much he glamorizes vigilante men in return.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
Though it's hard to say he's totally wrong with some of the shit that's happened in just this past year alone.
Still, a little variety is always good.
Edit: Plus, Ennis would probably write them that way even without the real life context.

One Strip! One Strip! His issues do come from real world context, as he was born and raised in Ireland and spent his youth through the regime of Margaret Thatcher, whom he hated.
Yeah. It clearly very deep seated.
I can't really say much else, because obviously I didn't live through it.
I still say they shouldn't let him write super heroes. Someone who's willing to shake things up and maybe not too adherent and reverent to them is one thing, but Ennis has zero respect for them, which means he's not a good choice for many of them.
He's great for the Punisher, but even that lasts for only so long.
One Strip! One Strip!Mind you, most of the things Rob referred to were committed by people with a mentality closer to that of the Punisher than to a traditional superhero.
Hence the hypocrisy issue mentioned by Slim.
I hear Ennis is a very good person in real life, incidentally.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."The Punisher series which had Frank steal a pizza also ended with Nick Fury going on a spiel about how he actually liked Frank and had hoped they could be a team.
After Frank is loaded into the truck to be sent to prison, Nick then tells Rhodey that "I lied. I $%&@ hate him."
Pretty much everyone hates Frank Castle, and for good reason. Even the people who busted Frank out in the end of the series hate him - they're only doing it because they have a common goal.
The only person in that series who seems to respect Frank on any level (and whom Frank respects in turn) is Rhodey himself. Rhodey actually manages to talk down Frank into peacefully returning the War Machine armor and surrendering.

Huh reading the Thanos Wins arc, man Thanos is just a scary motherfucker.
He finally wins through causing the extinction of all living life and....... well thats just it. There's no grand plan to all the genocide, no empires to rule, progeny to sire, there is no one left to kill and so all he does is just exist. He sits in his throne, atop a kingdom of ash and nothing where the only thing he does to break the eternal monotony is breakfast and enjoying Ghost Rider's Penance Star as his only source of entertainment.
Its just existentially depressing. All this to win the heart of woman who never loved him, all this death and void of anything for something he'll never obtain. Its so incredibly fucked up.

Neal Kirby, son of Jack Kirby, statement on the terrorists using Captain America.
Nice.
Also man Cosmic Ghost Rider is sad as fuck. Like he’s Deadpool but in a good way, as like Wade he’s using a daredevil may care attitude and his own insanity to mask the pain he feels over his own existence.
Like fuck I think he’s one of the few Frank’s who actually has a Heal Realization and wants to be a better person but he can’t. Everyone is telling him to kill bay Thanos & when he finds out that his war crusade is a universal constant, that breaks him because he realizes that like how it’s absolute fate for Thanos to be Thanos, it’s also fate for Frank to be the Punisher.
The face he makes is just heartbreaking.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."yeah any time he tries to do good after he escapes it ends up worse. he tries to raise baby thanos, thanos turns into the punisher thanos an even bigger threat, he tries to save his family and time breaks.
And in a minor comedic note, Odin’s comment on Mjolnir as that “infuriating hammer my son Thor, holds so dear” is hilarious.
Like he is just so tired of all that trouble that hammer has caused his family, especially since his son has basically built his entire identity around that single weapon.
I don’t blame him, it’s more trouble than it’s worth especially with how infamously unreliable it can be.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The quote on the page The Punisher is from a song of Megadeth (and it's not even a song about Punisher, it's a song about religious fundamentalism, and they took a pair of verses out of their context). Someone here knows a better alternative from the comic books?
Ultimate Secret WarsActually the Megadeth song is fitting as according to interviews regarding inspiration of Holy Wars . . . The Punishment Due the Marvel Comic character was part of the inspiration for the song. Hence why the lyrics was an on the nose reference in the song that is more or less Mustaine reflection on the state of the Middle East.
I mean its kind of like if the page quote for Dune is basically lyrics from the Iron Maiden song “To Tame the Land”.

In today's King of Black, it's revealed the God of Light is Silver Surfer
I guess that makes sense given the Silver Surfer Black miniseries.
As much as anything in that book made sense anyway.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersShit All-Black by its original wielder. That’s gotta hurt.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."no he isn't. he says that the god of light can't get it but for now he can
So here's the score on the Giant Dumb Bird Tournament Arc in Avengers
Captain America did "I can do this all day" until Dr Doom got bored and left last issue.
This issue, Black Panther knew no fear at Man-Thing's touch and burned the soggy guy down
American Eagle just wanted to win more than Luke Cage did, who did not want to be here at all.
Unlike Wolverine, Shanna the She-Devil refused to murder a fourth-grader but did bully a dinosaur
Jane Valkyrie gave the Orb a poke in the pupil. With a mace.
Shang-Chi meditated Hyperion into submission. Yes.
my favorite contender Howard the Duck got turned into pate by Red Widow. Sheesh.
Black Panther gets thrown in again and has a political dick waving contest with Nighthawk. And then they beat the shit out of each other. Pretty sure Black Panther won this one but its not explicit.
And the last fight of the issue is Echo vs Namor and its pretty heavily implied that Namor is going to kick her ass easily.
Remaining bird candidates, presumably: Captain America, Black Panther, American Eagle, Shanna the She-Devil, Valkyrie, Shang-Chi, Red Widow, and Namor. And Wolverine, She-Hulk, and Black Knight who haven't gotten to fight yet.
Cavewoman Jean Grey also slides over to Black Panther and tell him that Phoenix wants him to win and he could just win now by submitting to the dumb bird. T'Challa tells her to fuck off and that million years dead ghost or not, he'll kick her ass.
So this sure is a tournament arc on super fast forward. And the Phoenix fucked up the brackets by making Black Panther go twice in round 1 for snubbing its offer. Birds just can't throw a good tournament, I tell ya.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersYeah, while Maya is most likely among the three (along with Taskmaster and Sage) most skilled hand to hand combatants... and melee weapon combatants... anyway, against Namor, unless she gets really smart about it, she's toast.
She’s fighting him in the water too. It was a poor life choice
Forever liveblogging the Avengers
Thats the one where he rides a giant gun for some damn reason, right?
