[up]IIRC Mystique had a miniseries around the time.

Has anyone ever gotten that feeling of despising a character who you used to really like?

I've been reading lots of X-men recently and now I hate what they did to Mystique in the movies.

I just want my live-action Mystique, with actual clothes, dating Destiny and just being a selfish asshole.

Not sure about those last two parts, but I can see Mystique in a more comics-accurate costume as more likely to happen now that Fox's X-Universe is as dead as a doornail and Marvel Studios can stick mutants into the MCU at any point now. Heck, we already know Madripoor will be a location in The Falcon & The Winter Soldier.

(Now if only this stupid pandemic would stop delaying movies from releasing as they should...)

It's interesting; the first three movies she was Magneto's right hand woman, and then the next few she was a founding X-Man and hero, and neither version is anything like the actual Mystique from the comics.

Whose idea was it to make her completely nude?

Because she does wear clothes & I'm pretty sure wearing clothes would have been less strenuous for the actresses as they wouldn't have to wear the makeup on their entire body.

[up][up] Why wouldn't her being a selfish asshole be likely? Its not like the MCU is gonna imitate Fox and make her a hero again.

[up] Fanservice, probably. Plus it's not like the Fox-Men were all that eager to adopt comic-accurate costumes to begin with.

[up] Thats what makes the whole thing weirder.

Like the X-Men are given black uniforms on the basis of realism and on the other side we have a blue nude scaled woman.

Its odd.

You’d think though, right? Less paint.

Remember when the comics tried to make Mystique look like the movie version? I think it lasted one issue before she just went back to normal.

The MCU has gone with the Adaptational Heroism route for a few villains so it is a possibility. Though I doubt they'll make Mystique a founding X-woman.

Rebecca Romijn said the reason for that was clothing would get in the way of shapeshifting. Then again, they had no issue having Mystique in clothes when she disguised herself as someone else.

And in the comics, Mystique is pretty much always technically naked since her "clothes" are actually shapeshifted parts of her own body. The only clothing she has trouble copying are zippers.

Yeah it’s canon that Mystique is technically naked almost all the time, her clothes that we see are just her power. When you think about it that makes sense since it allows her to change forms quickly. If she was wearing clothes and had to change in seconds then they’d be a giveaway.

Chameleon nowadays uses a special costume that responds to his thoughts and can shape itself to look however he wishes.

He's also not a natural shapeshifter (most of the time), just a Master of Disguise with very realistic latex masks ala Mission Impossible.

It feels like the Fox X-Men movies are so much older now even though they only came out two decades ago. I still have fun memories of watching them on DVD with my brothers and friends.

Thus we've proven it.

Ya know if Mystique appears in the MCU, I hope they put some focus on her relationship with Nightcrawler and Rogue, either one or both.

The MCU has been criticized for being overtly father-centric so it be interesting to finally put some major focus on a mother relationship, especially a very toxic one at that.

Don't forget Graydon Creed - Mystique and Sabretooth's shitty parenting is in large part why he became a fanatic anti-mutant bigot.

Though ironically enough, Sabretooth would come to respect Graydon and wished him luck on his presidential campaign. Mystique by contrast assassinated him.

She really is the Mutant bicycle.

Mystique gets around. Heck, at one time she was even Xavier's wife.

Their Bad Future son is the partner in crime of her Bad Future son with Logan.

X-Men writers have gone to same strange places when it comes to relationships.

Personally, I'm a fan of Sean Cassidy and Emma Frost since Scemma's now in the rearview mirror.

I like Deadpool & Siryn.

She saw the best in him or recognized the tragedy underneath the violent insanity after getting to know him & plus she's among his more civil relationships in the X-Men.

Heck, it's even been implied that the infamous Love Triangle in X-Men has been resolved in Hickman's run by having all three start a polyamorous relationship.

[up]Eh, there was a lot wrong with that relationship. Specifically the "violent insanity" part.
