This thread's for talking about the Marvel Comics line, whether the comics are decades old or brand new.
As well as the superhero tales of the Marvel Universe, that also includes all the other things Marvel's done (Epic Comics, Icon Comics, Star Comics and all the rest), as well as the older stories by Atlas and Timely, the companies that later became Marvel.
Acquisitions like Malibu Comics and Miracleman are also on-topic, as are the licensed 20th Century Studios titles, the Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Zoids and Transformers comics, and all of the comics created locally by regional imprints like Marvel UK and Marvel Italia.
- We have dedicated threads for some groups of titles (such as Spider-Man and the X-Men). You can still discuss them here, but you might want to use the more specific threads.
- We also have threads for Indiana Jones
, Star Wars
, Predator
and some of the other franchises. Sometimes it may be more useful to discuss the comics there rather than here — but they're still on-topic and there's no hard rule.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about them here.
Discussions that are only about Marvel adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics (e.g. if comparing Marvel to a DC story). When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).
So apparently,
they're making a Black Panther movie. Let's hope Hudlin is kept as far away as possible. On a related note, anyone think that the whole 'Super Hero that is also a King/Ruler' is kind of ridiculous? I mean where do heroes like Aquaman and T'Challa find the time to both lead a nation and go gallavanting on the other side of the globe?

I know right. Damn, Comcast! Even though its the service provider I use, they always love to fuck me over when it comes to internet use. Now with their whole stance on Net Neutrality, I have to download over 60 GB of porn/hentai just to ensure that shit won’t end up like that one Robot Chicken sketch where all the porn on the internet is deleted.
But more to the point while Disney gaining a monopoly on just about everything we know and love (sooner or later Hasbro and Nintendo are next) is not a good image, I have to say they are the lesser of two evils when it comes to the bid for Fox. Plus this is a sure fire chance to finally get a Fantastic Four movie that does not suck so I am down for the deal.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersOh shit. My Marvel read-through is now in late 1998. So I've just started in on MC 2 (Electric Boogaloo?), which is so far OK. Very much a throwback style of stories. Some interesting ideas, but I'm reserving judgment on whether the comics are actually any good.
I've also reached Marvel Knights. The first issue of Priest's Black Panther is, um, interesting. Which is also a decent descriptor for Kevin Smith's first issue of Daredevil. But also: The first issue of Punisher as an undead agent of Heaven. Yep, I'm at that story. And holy shit. Even the first issue makes it clear how baffling the whole idea is.
So yeah, interesting period I'm now reading.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.![]()
Actually at that point I believe they had dialed back the Cable-clones and fan service, and were more like "throw anything at the wall and see what sticks".
You had MC 2 for the kids, Marvel Knights for the "mature" scene (which later lead into Marvel MAX for the +18-crowd), the short-lived and oft-forgotten Tsunami to try and win over the manga fans, and the Ultimate line for the newbies.
Tony Stark: Iron Man, written by Slott, has been released. It includes Fin Fang Foom and Jocasta, and a behind-the-scenes villain in the stinger. And, among other things, Iron Man goes into Mazinger Z mode. And there is some soccer involved... for some reason.
Ultimate Secret WarsIn comics I read today
Ms Marvel. Man wins lottery, invests in cats. Also, the most interrupted slumber party and the most obvious secret revealed
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur: I guess Fisk has his own little orphan Annie? Also in a truly supervillainous move Fisk institutes standardized testing. The monster
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI will say that knowing that Kamala’s friends already knew her identity helps that precious story arc considerably - I always thought it was a bit weird they were helping out someone that they didn’t even know that well.
Oh God! Natural light!Sina Grace confirms that the trade sales saved Iceman
. I’m pretty sure that was the case for Unstoppable Wasp I’m already liking Marvel’s new weeb-in-chief.
Unfortunately the Diamond monopoly prevents comic companies from learning the obvious.
Which is Marvel's fault actually so shot themselves in the foot a couple decades ago and are still bleeding out.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers

And while I don’t want Disney to get any bigger, they’re far more preferable than Comcast due to their anti-Net Netrality stance and they’re already a telecom.
