This thread's for talking about the Marvel Comics line, whether the comics are decades old or brand new.
As well as the superhero tales of the Marvel Universe, that also includes all the other things Marvel's done (Epic Comics, Icon Comics, Star Comics and all the rest), as well as the older stories by Atlas and Timely, the companies that later became Marvel.
Acquisitions like Malibu Comics and Miracleman are also on-topic, as are the licensed 20th Century Studios titles, the Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Zoids and Transformers comics, and all of the comics created locally by regional imprints like Marvel UK and Marvel Italia.
- We have dedicated threads for some groups of titles (such as Spider-Man and the X-Men). You can still discuss them here, but you might want to use the more specific threads.
- We also have threads for Indiana Jones
, Star Wars
, Predator
and some of the other franchises. Sometimes it may be more useful to discuss the comics there rather than here — but they're still on-topic and there's no hard rule.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about them here.
Discussions that are only about Marvel adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics (e.g. if comparing Marvel to a DC story). When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).
So apparently,
they're making a Black Panther movie. Let's hope Hudlin is kept as far away as possible. On a related note, anyone think that the whole 'Super Hero that is also a King/Ruler' is kind of ridiculous? I mean where do heroes like Aquaman and T'Challa find the time to both lead a nation and go gallavanting on the other side of the globe?

Kitty Pryde being queer is a bit of a stretch. Not because of the usual bullshit but because Kitty Pryde has been in groups where members were lesbians and bi without it ever being alluded to on her part.
The New Mutants had Karma as an out lesbian in the 80s.
It's a shame she was Demoted to Extra.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Dumb.
It frustrates me that writers seem think writing a character in a family is limiting. Serial story telling really should be about building on what previous writers have introduced.
I guess Reed and Sue is the only marriage which is sacred.
I wish I had a list of longest lasting marriages/relationships in Marvel publications.
Yeah. Marriages get a bum wrap in comics.
Also, I just had a thought for a comic series:
There was the old Acts of Vengeance crossover where different villains deliberately challenged heroes they don't normally fight.
Why not extend that into a sort of Anthology series of heroes and villains who don't normally cross paths...crossing paths.
I bet it'd make for some fun interactions.

One Strip! One Strip!"Kitty Pryde being queer is a bit of a stretch. Not because of the usual bullshit but because Kitty Pryde has been in groups where members were lesbians and bi without it ever being alluded to on her part.

Kitty hasn't been on that many teams with bi or lesbian women. At least, open ones. Partly because the openly gay and bi characters tend to be from the past 15 years or so, so they're a bit too young for Kitty to interact with often.
Karma wasn't an out lesbian in the '80s. She wasn't out until New Mutants Vol. 2, though an issue of X-Force in the late '90s strongly hinted at it, and the Mekani X mini in the early 2000s all but shouted it. In fact, it came incredibly close to Kitty and Karma just making out.
Kitty's queer, the issue is it's always been subtext and there's no way the X-office would have the guts to actually let her be queer.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Even by Anti-Hero standards Namor's... pretty awful. In addition to that he blew up a ton of alternate Earths in cold blood, serially creeps on married women, esp. Sue Richards, and in his early, Golden Age years he was essentially a straight-up Villain Protagonist who slaughtered people for committing minor offenses against the ocean.
The first one he blew up was literally better than 616, even. The other Illuminati voted to destroy 616 so that one could live, but Namor pushed the Big Red Button anyway.
Technically the others voted to do nothing which would have led to both universes being destroyed
Forever liveblogging the AvengersConsidering how I always refered to him as “Kazuya In A Speedo”, it doesn’t really shock me that Namor will be a huge dick 99% of the time.
To answer a previous poster's question: Janet was recently in Unstoppable Wasp, where she served as a mentor to Nadia. It was quite enjoyable, if very short lived.
On a different note, has anyone picked up the first issue of the new Deadpool book by Scottie Young?
They wasted too much time fighting the Not Justice League because Namor got impatient and threw a trident at Not Batman
Forever liveblogging the AvengersDo you remember Galactus the Lifebringer? Say goodbye to him. In Infinity Countdown #4 he's back to being the devourer of worlds, and the Silver Surfer is his herald.
Seriously, in the last years Marvel has been desperately trying to get rid of anything remotely new or interesting, and bring everything back to the way it was in the 60s or 70s, when most of us were not even born. All such things are either cancelled or reverted, or about to be. Even Groot talks again! I just hope they don't bring back Rick Jones' Teen Brigade, or I'm gonna scream.
Ultimate Secret WarsGroot talking is sorta new and interesting in that nobody knows or cares about talking jerk Groot but I don't like it
Also someone stage an intervention for Norin Radd because he's in an on again off again relationship with Galactus and it's not healthy
Forever liveblogging the AvengersActually, a talking Groot was an Early-Installment Weirdness... and it should have stayed that way, just a trivia fact. Nowadays, it's just plain wrong, it's almost a crime against nature.
