This thread's for talking about the Marvel Comics line, whether the comics are decades old or brand new.
As well as the superhero tales of the Marvel Universe, that also includes all the other things Marvel's done (Epic Comics, Icon Comics, Star Comics and all the rest), as well as the older stories by Atlas and Timely, the companies that later became Marvel.
Acquisitions like Malibu Comics and Miracleman are also on-topic, as are the licensed 20th Century Studios titles, the Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Zoids and Transformers comics, and all of the comics created locally by regional imprints like Marvel UK and Marvel Italia.
- We have dedicated threads for some groups of titles (such as Spider-Man and the X-Men). You can still discuss them here, but you might want to use the more specific threads.
- We also have threads for Indiana Jones
, Star Wars
, Predator
and some of the other franchises. Sometimes it may be more useful to discuss the comics there rather than here — but they're still on-topic and there's no hard rule.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about them here.
Discussions that are only about Marvel adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules
- tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics (e.g. if comparing Marvel to a DC story). When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).
So apparently,
they're making a Black Panther movie. Let's hope Hudlin is kept as far away as possible. On a related note, anyone think that the whole 'Super Hero that is also a King/Ruler' is kind of ridiculous? I mean where do heroes like Aquaman and T'Challa find the time to both lead a nation and go gallavanting on the other side of the globe?

Seems to be the bulky one in the middle, who's the size of two Chases.
The draw of Ji M? That it's awesome?
Kid Loki is one of the best characters in a long time, and Kieron Gillen's one of the best writers in the business. The book is funny, smart, clever, full of intrigue, full of genuinely moving moments, explores human nature and questions of nature vs. nurture and whether some people are simply incapable of being better. There is not a single bad issue of this run. The book is just fucking magnificent, in every way.
The first two TP Bs for it - Fear Itself, and Fear Itself Aftermath - have both come out. I'd highly recommend picking them up.
Shame the Punisher's ended. Sgt. Cole-Alves is a great character, and it's been a real pleasure watching her journey. I'd love to see more of her, but I guess that won't be happening.
Finding good kid!Loki fic is so hard....Anyone have any suggestions?
The only ones I've been able to find are set in the MCU, which isn't bad, but they almost always have Thor barely appear, and have another pair on the team take care of/raise/make friends with/whatever him. Which....no.

Say, am I the only one who thinks something really bad's about to happen to Luke Cage or someone close to him (possibly Jessica based on that future cover)? When he said he was going to leave the Avengers to support his family, I couldn't help but think of the trope.
I was watching "Escape from New York" on TV today and realized most Wolverine fan probably get the same enjoyment from Wolverine that I get from Pliskin. This confused me momentarily because I hate Wolverine. I think it's because I've never understood Wolverine's reasons for being so anti-social. Plinskin was in some kind of sci-fi version of Nam. What's Wolverine's deal?
Wolverine's deal? Well, we can start with Weapon X and build from there, I guess.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Wolverine's deal is that he's three Skrulls. They're all operating simultaneously, completely unaware of the other two.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub."Never to rise again" in comics generally means "gone for a little while".
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. It's been a while since they "broke apart, never to rise again". Since then, they've met on at least three occasions that I can think of: one during the Secret Invasion, regarding the Skrull Elektra, one when The Hood started gathering the Infinity Gems, which is when Cap joined, and one during Av X, when Cap wanted to talk to Namor about the Phoenix Five.
Every time, someone chimes in about, "We agreed never to do this again! Why are we still doing this!" At this point, it's become apparent that in a crisis, someone's going to call together the Illuminati, regardless of their whole "never again" thing.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.The Illuminati is a thing that exists in comic book canon. That means it will never be forgotten. The most people who hate it can hope for is for it to spend some time in limbo due to writers who dislike it, before another writer brings it back. Such is the nature of the Shared Universe.

The CBR Avengers boards can't decide if that's Laurie there. Some think it might be her, others aren't so sure. I don't think she's been named, which leads me to think it might not be her - all the other existing characters were named.
One person on the Avengers board is pretty sure Hazmat's dying. The second issue's solicit mentions Hazmat and Cammi vs. Deathlokett - and yes, the character's actually named Deathlokett - and that a character is going to die, and the cover has Deathlokett pointing a gun at the back of Hazmat's head. I'm hoping Hazmat doesn't die, but unfortunately, it's likely that either her or Mettle will die, probably early, since they're a couple and that would ratchet up the angst a lot more. It's an obvious choice, so I don't have high hopes for both surviving.
And I'm still annoyed at the whole concept. I'm sick of teen characters being used as fodder. How are they supposed to build up a fan base if Marvel keeps killing them off? Why the fuck should anyone care about new teen characters when they're just going to get killed off anyway? It's annoying.
