As per a guardian article, Bangladesh was expected to take over but the Saudi govt lobbied for the position and got it.

To be perfectly honest the UN does so many things stupid I have very little faith in anything they do.
You need blood and he's got more than enough!IIRC, the Immoral Republic was also in the running for some high ranking "feminist" UN position as well, Mur.

Something I find weird. Sometimes, when a group of women protest against the ban on abortion(or other issues women face for being women), they use pink signs or wear pink shirts. While they have the right to protest, choosing the color pink kind of confuses me, cause it reinforces the idea of associating two certain colors(pink and blue) with gender, and well, colors have no gender.

Sophia the robot received a Saudi citizenship and she can drives her own vehicles, which means she has more rights than Saudi women

This article goes a little more in depth. The driving thing is a misremembering on my part but it was very close since the ban was only lifted in September of that year

Ah yeah, I remember that debacle. Saudi women were understandably pissed to high Heaven at the implication that, in the eyes of their leader, they were apparently considered such third-class citizens, SO utterly worthless and subhuman that a ROBOT deserved more rights than them.
That was quite a few years ago: Aside from the driving, how’s the situation for Saudi women these days? Largely the same?

.
TLDR: Since 2017 there has been notable strike in women right. Of course this is still a very conservative Muslim country we are talking about so there is a LOT to go. The current rank for gender equality index is 127 out of 146 countries.

I am not sure if there is anything more sexist than underwear store TV commercials.
For the biggest chains in Spain the logic is the same:
Holiday pajamas and funny underwear for men and children... sexy lingerie for women (while doing stuff that would probably you will not do in lingerie...)
Indeed, my wife was really bonkers on a funny boxer she saw in the man underwear commercial, but felt dissapointed that nothing funny was for women in that same store. She felt the way the stores handle their products very sexist.
From last week: Andrew Tate's human trafficking case cannot proceed in trial, and is sent back to the prosecutor for further review

This is a setback, hope it won't mean the end of the case alltogether.

I understand your point. Given the funny innuendo that has the Intimissimi Uomo commercials against the casual sexyness of the Woman commercial, yes, the idea is to bring funny underwear to his men to play with his ding-a-ling while everyone dreams to have the women cooking eggs and bacon in lingerie without worrying to get burn.
While, still, the last times I went to Victoria Secret is because my wife found very good deals in her underwear... (lingerie is so expensive... X x)
The above video looks at the reactions to women accusing men of abuse, with a particular focus on how famous black women like Megan Thee Stallion, Robin Givens and Kiki Palmer have been treated when they came forward with stories of being abused. Megan and Givens are particularly sad cases. Megan herself initially tried to protect Tory Lanez after he shot her but then had numerous people accuse her of lying when she did reveal it was him who shot her. And Givens was accused of being a gold digger when she accused Mike Tyson of abusing her despite having her own money and Tyson himself admitting to abusing her. The author of the video also shares her experience with abuse and how she was subject to victim blaming by friends and her abuser's own mother (who had warned her about his violent tendencies).
The author of the video discusses carceral feminism, a type of feminism that advocates for the protection of women by enhancing and increasing prison sentences. While the video author is against this and believes that the current prison system is inadequate for addressing harm, she also understands why people would subscribe to this ideology given how all too common the response to a black woman is ridicule and victim blaming.
So I've just read that Andrew Tate and his brother are currently in the US. Apparently, their travel restrictions were lifted

Who wants to bet that they will not return to Romania for their trial?

The charing of UN groups is not determined based on a country’s commitment or interest in the mission of that group. What countries sit on each group is based on allocations to each regional grouping (with the Arab World effectively bouncing between the Africa and Asia groups) and then a vote of the nations within that group.
So CSW has 11 members from the Asia group which includes Saudi Arabia because the Asia group gives some seats specifically to Arab Countries in Asia and Saudi Arabia is a powerful nation of that group.
The chairing of the CSW then rotates amongst the different groups, the Asia group is going to have the chair and they selected Saudi Arabia as their person to be the chair, likely because it’s the turn of Arab nation in the Asia group to be the one the group puts forward as chair.
The subject matter covered by UN committees and commissions is in no way connected to membership or chairing of said committees and commissions.
