Other topics for consideration: predators should never recieve custody. Ever.

Agreed. Nobody convicted of a serious violent or sexual crime should get custody of kids.
You need blood and he's got more than enough! In terms of Sarkeesian, I remember I liked some of her video essays way back, but I was pretty out of the loop when it comes to all the controversy. It's quite interesting that she has been running her own organisation all this time.
Given that the arguments I heard her make struck me as quite logical and clearly reasoned, to be honest I never much cared for the 'Gamergate' side of things which seemed to spiral out of control.

Not entirely sure, but I think Gamergate itself is a banned topic since it'snear-impossble to discuss without fights breaking out. I could well be wrong though.
As for Sarkeesan, I had a lot of issues with her content and its accuracy, but death threats aren't on. Sadly common on the internet in general, though.
You need blood and he's got more than enough!Though note that most other male Youtubers who do videogame reviews don't get nearly the same kind of violent pushback. Heck, it's been noted that Jack Thompson never got the same kind of pushback despite actually trying to make videogames and their players scapegoats for all of society's ills.
Disgusted, but not surprisedI never quite liked her myself, her videos often came across as surface level feminism at best, with some of them having poor or outright contradictory takes.
...
Which makes it all the more fucked up that she became the lightning rod that she did, if it wasn't for the hate she got just from being a woman who dared to speak out about video-games, she would have been forgotten about in a couple weeks, like I am pretty sure a lot of people have for years before this announcement...
Ironicaly the assholes who made hating her there whole personality ended up creating the very thing they railed agianst.
As I mentioned in the video games thread, I can't say I'm too familiar with her.
What I understand from what I have heard is that there's genuine legitimate criticisms of her work and she has some bad takes, but she's also a victim of crazy-ass misogynist vermin. The two aren't mutually exclusive.
Leviticus 19:34There are millions of people online with dogshit takes on fiction. It's no coincidence that it was one of the first prominent women to discuss video games specifically on Youtube who got hate campaigns and death threats.
The two aren't mutually exclusive, but neither is the former actually relevant to the latter. Nothing Sarkeesian said or could have said merited the reaction she got and continues to get.
Yes.
You can say whatever you want about how well-researched or not her videos were or how much of a man-hating feminist she was or wasn’t, that doesn’t particularly matter here.
Because ultimately, she was a woman om the Internet with an opinion. And in the eyes of a ”Gamer”TM, that’s just about the worst thing to ever exist.

Which makes it even more ridiculous I suppose. If you want to "protect" video games, Thomson is the person you should go after. Obvisly nobody deserves death threats including Jerkasses like him, and I'm hardly surprised by such SkewedPriorities, but still.
Hell, Trump tried to blame mass shootings on video games back in 2019
, yet I didn't see any comments from the usual anti-SJW voices about that.
And really, what "damage" did Sarkeesian actually do to video games? Jiggle Physics, Stripperiffic costumes and damsels in distress didn't vanish from media just because she complained about them. Were "Gamers" so insecure about their hobby they had to pretend she had more influence over the medium than she actually did?

The most blatant example of the Gamergate sexism for me was the bit around a game review.
For those unaware, a game made by a (female) dev received a positive review from a (male) game journalist, shortly after the review was published the two entered into a romantic relationship.
The internet backlash was substantive and it’s where the line about “ethics in games journalism” comes from. Except almost the entire backlash was aimed at the dev, Total Biscuit (who already had a history of calling out games journalists for shady stuff) went after the journalist who’d potentially breached journalistic ethics and found himself basically alone. The rest of the internet were busy yelling at the closest women.

Eh, Anita had goods and bads(Defending Amber herd, yoinking people's vids without permission, etc...) but death threats should never be condoned.
And her shutting down the channel is I think, is a part of the progress. Many AAA companies now implements more diverse and inclusive ideas in games nowadays. Of course, the workplace ethnics still needs works but that's not relevant with this topics.
Does that mean I don't get the job?
