So, why do people bother with IGN again?
Yep, I'm still here.I use them because their actual news articles are good, and very accessible if you can cut through all the bullshit editorials they put up.
Also, once in a while, their editorials are actually halfway decent. Right now, they have a retrospective of Satoru Iwata's career, in celebration of his 10th Anniversary as Nintendo's president. It's actually pretty interesting.

it's going to be a T-rated fighter starring DC characters, so will clearly be a repeat of MK vs. DCU.
Whhaaaaa-?! It's a DC only game. The whole problem with the T-rating was that it was a T-rated Mortal Kombat game. Eliminate Mortal Kombat from the equation and the T-rating becomes a non-issue.
Oh wait, it's IGN. Nevermind.
"Shake the dust." - Anis MojganiSpecifically, their complaint is "This is a T-rated fighter that looks a lot like Mortal Kombat, but it's lacking the brutality that makes that game stand out."
Because the over-the-top gore is the only reason anyone liked Mortal Kombat 9, am I right? It's not like it was a return to basics for the series, with it's 2D playing field, streamlined gameplay, and it's focus on the original trilogy, or it's innovative and interesting story mode, or that it has cool characters. Nope. People just want to see blood.
Ugh.
On behalf of everyone else, I'm going to do the facepalming.
Believe me, I've been doing it all day.
On another topic, DC has a lot of characters who are similar to each other. We probably won't be seeing the likes of Superboy, Donna Troy, or Professor Zoom, because they'd probably be pretty similar to Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Flash.
Speaking of Superboy, has anyone read Countdown To Final Crisis?
I have not (I don't actually read comics). But I did see the Atop The Fourth Wall episode that covered it.
Also, I was talking about just plain old Superboy, like the one that is currently starring in the Young Justice show; not Superboy-Prime.

I think the main problem is that it looks a bit Grimbland, or Greydark.
What reallly annoys me is that just because the last DC fighting game was rubbish, they assume this one will be to. EVEN THOUGH THIS ONE IS MADE BY A COMPLETELY DIFFRENT DEVELOPER.
It's like they believe all MK games are made by the same bunch of guys.
A good writer puts in a lot of details in there story. But a great one gets a story from a single detail. Is that show any good?
Oh and as for the complains yeah, those ones are unreasonable.

They are. Midway went under, was bought by Warner Bros. and was remade as Netherrealm Studios. There's probably a few differences, but they're basically Midway in all but name and work ethic.
Haven't actually seen it yet. I have a friend who loved the first season, though (the changes in the second season haven't been to her taste).
I like Young Justice. It's pretty good, putting an interesting spin on the main continuity while remaining faithful overall to the spirit of DC and its storylines. The time skip in Season 2 and the rumors of another time skip in Season 3 are very divisive issues, though.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadI like the Time Skip, though. It lets other cool characters show up.
Anyway, I've barely had an issue with any MK game. So I can't wait to see who is all in it. I might pick it up, depending the system.
Quest 64 threadLooking it over, I now see that was Harley Quinn, but if not for the slow motion I would have been able to tell. I recognized Solomon Grundy right away and I can't understand why people take a well known character with a fan base, it what is a essentially a game for the DC fans and then strip away everything recognizable. Not only is her look off, so is her personality. At least Joker in the MKDC crap was immediately seen by everyone who knew the Joker.
And I agree, Wonder Woman is still in need of something better. The opposite problem, you can instantly out her laughably impractical top but at least that really is more on DC to blame than Midwayexcuseme Netherealm Studios.
People rave about Mortal Kombat nine, but I really don't see it. A game in that vein would be vastly superior to the last DC one in control and presentation but I can't find excitement to see another one that resembles it in anyway. Gritty Superman, the boyscout. Fear Batman, the one that exclusively targets criminals and doesn't even kill them anymore.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackHow so? We haven't seen enough of this game yet to gauge the personalities of the announced characters.
Yeah, it's a bit too early to be criticizing stuff like that.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadWe've got quite a bit of time to see how "canon-like" the characters are.
Then again, this isn't a canon game by default, so having them as exact matches is completely unnecessary.
Quest 64 threadWhile I was at work, I had the best idea ever. I was thinking about Superman villains other than Lex Luthor, and landed on Bizarro. Of course, that falls under that "too similar" category I mentioned previously, since the only real difference in their powers is that Bizarro's Vision and Breath powers are reversed from Superman's. And then it hit me...
Reverse the control scheme. Make it so that you move with the face buttons/right thumbstick, and attack with the d-pad!
It'd fit for Bizarro, but it sounds too gimmicky. I'm willing to bet few people would enjoy that.
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadBetter than leaving the character out because of clonage.
I had an idea before landing on that one, where the difference was that all his moves were reversed-inputs of Superman's, but that's just not as much fun.
Well, as is, having a reversed control option would be great for left-handers.
There might be a way to give him something bizarre, though...
Quest 64 threadSuch as...?
Hey, weird question: Which Flash do you think this is?
There should be both a regular Aquaman
And a Superfriends!Aquaman
Should be good for a laugh
One of my few regrets about being born female is the inability to grow a handlebar mustache. -LandstanderWell, Ed Boon did say there would be multiple versions of characters. And Aquaman probably has a pretty good chance of making it in.
No, I'm not surprised.
For anyone who wants a summary, they basically say that the environmental aspects are stiff. Which they should kind of be expected to be, since the game's release date is currently "between 8 and 19 months from now", so I'm pretty sure polish is not high on the list of priorities at the moment.
Oh, they also take a moment at the end to bitch about how it's going to be a T-rated fighter starring DC characters, so will clearly be a repeat of MK vs. DCU.
