The main reason Tourney guys hate story is "EVERY SECOND SPENT ON THE STORY IS A SECOND THEY COULD HAVE USED TO BALANCE THE GAMEPLAY! HAVING A STORY MAKES THE GAMEPLAY UNBALANCED! HAVING STORY IS BAD FOR GAMEPLAY! METAL GEAR SOLID 4! HURRRRRR."
A good writer puts in a lot of details in there story. But a great one gets a story from a single detail. While Grundy indeed began as a purely Alan Scott villain, he's become a rather General DCU villain over the decades, and now he isn't particularly tied to any single hero.
It does not, as a matter of fact, work like MK. It works more like Blaz Blue.
Gotta say, I like what they showed on EVO. The combat packs quite a punch already, and that was basically a techdemo. Game is also surprisingly bloody; the red stuff comes in remarkable amounts and actually looks a lot more Mortal Kombat-esque than the cartoony red flurry in MK vs. DC did. Now if they throw in proper pain skins as Ed Boon anounced - bruises, cuts and burns and all - the ESRB might even give them a hard time, especially with attacks like Solomon Grundy running a shiv across his opponent's face.

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Well, to those who don't follow the DC universe closely and rather focus on Batman, he's probably mostly well known for his cameo in Batman: The Long Halloween and, of course, as a boss enemy in the video game Batman: Arkham City. He was, however, actually introduced as an enemy of the first Green Lantern in the early 40s.
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence. He was also the featured villain in an episode of The Batman. Granted, he was actually Clayface in disguise.
I noticed the voice too. If it is Superman, I guess the symbol could make sense, since it sort of looks like a red eye, as if he was charging up some heat vision.

Well when it's really good and does justice to their favorite characters they should.
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!
