Of course Monobear wouldn't settle for just cooking the culprit-he had use air missiles full of ingredients and cook him in a volcano. I fear what other ridiculously over the top ends he has planned for the future killers.
Though I do wonder what they'll do with Komaeda, now that the other kids know he's willing to kill. Isolate him somewhere? They'll be wary, certainly.
Everything happens for a reason. The reason is a chaotic intersection of chance and the laws of physics.I'm gonna hold off on reading those spoilers until I get into the second LP.
I just want to say that I read the first LP over the course of he last few days.
I don't even know where to begin, but I think holy shit is a good start.
I was like Ace Attorney meets 999, and somehow far more intense than either of those ever were.
Not sure when I'm going to get into the second LP, but I think I'm going to read the IF story first.
edit:
Oh man. The IF story is really like- wait, that'd be a spoiler.

I have a message from another time...I've caught up with SDR 2 thus far.
I have to say, Nagito is an interesting character so far. He's like the polar opposite of Junko, but every inch as crazy. Junko was obsessed with Despair, and viewed Hope as just another thing that led to it. That was why her MO was to torture people with Hope Spots before cruelly snatching away hat hope at the last moment. What was it she called it? Despair-inducing Hope? By giving people just a tiny bit of hope, she drew hem into deeper and more exquisite despair. Nagito, on the other side of things, is both a dark parody of Naegi, and Junko's perfect opposite. He is absolutely, completely, madly obsessed with Hope. Both as a concept, and in using the Hope's Peak students as an example of Hope. He believes that everything he's doing is a way to make their hope stronger by pitting them against deep Despair that they will break through. Junko gave people despair-inducing hope. Nagito wants to give them hope-inducing despair.
And the scariest thing is that I'm not sure which is worse.
I have a message from another time...Sorry to ask, but I was just on this insane archive binge and right when I was about to start the trial in SDR 2, the paywall went up. How long do these paywalls normally last, and what frequency can I expect these to come up?
2 or so weeks, coming up every 3 or so months I believe? In any case, at the current pace of updates, there probably won't be more than 1 or 2 by the time the paywall goes down. Plus the thread is locked right now, so it's not like there's any interesting discussion to miss out on.
Sucks that that happened to you right at the start of the trial though.
EDIT: I'm going to eat my own words because the thread just updated right now. Welp.

Chapter 2 begins. Lousy timing for the paywall to go back up, huh?
And Nagito has disappeared, while Nidai and Souda transparently deny knowing anything about his whereabouts. I wonder if someone took steps to keep the nutcase under lock and key so he doesn't hurt anyone?
Oh, and one of the Monobeasts has also disappeared (thanks to Monomi), so a new island has opened up.

There's a tumblr with a not quite as good as Oren but decent DR 2 translation, and it's up to the 3rd trial. Useful for those of us not lucky enough to have an SA account. The paywall has come up enough times that I consider it merely an annoyance.
As for the game so far, I think it has surpassed the first game. The increase in fanservice I dislike, but overall we have a better cast, better art, and better game mechanics.
Everything happens for a reason. The reason is a chaotic intersection of chance and the laws of physics.Definitely better mechanics, and the stakes are ramped up pretty high right from the start. End of the firs trial, and we already have someone as insane as Junko running around, and most of the revelations that happened in the last chapter of DR 1 have been dropped, making me wonder how they're going to maintain this pace. But I'm confident they will keep the pace up, considering how well they did for DR 1.

I have a message from another time...I'm loving the cast of the second game even more than the first, and the first game wasn't a slouch either. Everyone feels more alive in a sense, in that not only do they talk more in the trials, but more people's SHSL skills actually mean something. I like how in just the very first chapter, the majority of the characters have already used (or attempted to use) their SHSL skills, instead of it being just a title slapped on to help us tell them apart.
And yeah, the mechanics are better now, although that's not quite as important if I'm just reading along.
The cow eats Fruit Loops at midnight. The official anime website has updated with some character art. A nice look at what art style they'll be using, which looks quality enough. The characters they're choosing to promote provides a nice assortment of the surviving and the dead. Misleading advertising to preserve spoilers and keep the deaths unpredictable is a yes.
Everything happens for a reason. The reason is a chaotic intersection of chance and the laws of physics.Pretty much so.
Also, that latest SDR2 update was fantastic. Nidai and Akane sparring with each other, some backstory on Kuzuryuu where we found out he had a sister, and Monobear coming out of absolutely nowhere while Monomi and Souda talk school rules, armed with a machine gun!
Paywall is down, and I believe the latest update has not been discussed in previous posts.
Those certainly are some mysterious ruins, but I don't think the entire area around Hopes Peak sunk into the ocean. Probably not the real one. I also doubt the two games are happening in tandem as is being theorized, though that would be an awesome twist if it happened. Monomi's denial of a traitors existence is interesting. There most likely is someone who doesn't belong, as Monobear insists, but perhaps rather than bearing ill for the students, they're in league with Monomi herself? An enemy of Monobear is a friend to us all.
Everything happens for a reason. The reason is a chaotic intersection of chance and the laws of physics.Of course Komaeda will be available, he can't exactly run away.
I voted for Chiaki and Sonia. I might just be remembering wrong, but I feel as though the kids in the first game didn't react to the loss of the dead characters as much. A few lines about being horrified at the death, but nothing specific to their personal relationships with them, like how the SDR 2 kids are handling it. It's a nice bit of depth.
Everything happens for a reason. The reason is a chaotic intersection of chance and the laws of physics.

Update again! New Climax Inference definitely looks much improved.
My goodness, Nagito is even more nutso than I had previously thought. And I thought he was already plenty nutso before.
