Reed Richards? Don't you mean Doom?
...
because that's who he is...
yeah...
I barely read Ultimate comics anymore. Ultimatum was just too much.

And I am reminded why I stopped reading everything but Marvel Adventures. And now those are cancelled, so yeah.

The whole world is going to shit. Sentinals made 2 states disapear and are no longer part of the US along with Apocalypse, and Master Mold killing off mutants, meanwhile Eatern Europe and Parts of South Asia were destroyed to make room for the Cities and the People. And Whasington was just nuked and Shield is in the hands of a crazy guy. Plus Reed still has the hulk and the People are still there. This world is fucked and I kinda hope Miles stays in 616 after the Crossover so he doesnt have to stay in this crapsack world anymore.

[up] 2 States? I was under the impression it was 4. (no, not that it really matters)

I'm kind of hoping that the issue tomorrow starts turning things back in the right direction rather than letting things keep getting worse and worse. Stark TALKS like he has a plan to bring down the new Dr. Doom, and Thor's son looks like he's making a comeback, but I won't be convinced things are ready to look up until it actually happens.

I read it a week ago, it proabably was 4. But here's the thing. Even if the beat the City now, things are still shit. There will be the People which will probably take care of the Master Mold problem, but too much will have been fucked for things to be good again.

I loved Marvel Adventures. Especially the Spider-Man series. Although The Avengers was great, too.

[up] I used to read some of the Marvel Adventure series (Avengers mostly) once I figured out what they were about.

I stopped once they re-tooled them to make them more like the 'regular' marvel series (which COMPLETELY defeated the point!)

I will admit, however, that I did still buy the one post-retool issue that featured Deadpool. It was surprising to see just how well they were able to adapt him for an all-ages style comic.

Eh the Post Retool Spider-Man was still good. And Chat was great.

[up] I was thinking the same thing. As much as it LOOKS like things are at a new low, I'm guessing that this is simply the playing to Reed's ego that Tony mentioned when he was talking to the president.

And based on the ads for the new Divided We Fall theme coming up in Issue 13, that gives me every reason to think that the next issue will finally deal with the Reed issue, at least in any sense where he can pose a major threat to anyone for the near future.

I actually dug this story arc. Mostly because it was pretty much your typical Marvel adventure but with crazy character reinterpretations.

And I mean come on. Tony Stark defeats Reed Richards through the power of a sentient technopathic tumor. how can you not love that.

So I had a theory/idea come to mind regarding Ultimate Carol Danvers - hear me out on this.

Currently, I'd say she ranks about a level below Ultimate characters like Ultimate Spider-Woman and Nick Fury as far as how she differs from her 616 counterpart, alongside people like Reed Richards - she's not entirely different from the original, but at the same time they've taken a different path with her that has let to some situations that you would not see her in just reading about the original version.

There's yet to be any indication of her becoming Ultimate Ms. Marvel, but what she had done is become Director of SHIELD, and from the way I understand things, mostly lost the job as a result of Fury's meddling. Even after loosing the position, however, she's since helped arrange things to allow the Ultimates to take down Reed Richards and as of last issue, became the Presidents Chief of Staff.

At present it's fairly clear that Marvel isn't interested in keeping the Ultimate Universe much 'in-line' with the 'real' world, in spite of it's style. They've made a mess of Europe, blown up Washington DC in a way they're not going to recover from easily, and the US is in a state of Civil War. And unlike 616 Marvel, it's not the 'real' President in charge, they've instead got a low-level secretary in the position because he happened to not be in the wrong place in the wrong time.

Which leads me to my thought/Wild Mass Guess - could we be looking at the potential for Ultimate Carol Danvers to become President of United States?

As it is, we're probably looking at her running the country by de facto, considering the guy in charge admitted he doesn't know what he's doing and appointed Carol his Chief of Staff to help him figure out how to actually do the job. Combined with her previous experience and the potential for him to not want to actually run for election when it comes up, I'm wondering if we might not see Ultimate Carol Danvers getting elected to the position instead, especially if she helps him actually bring the current mess under control.

So...am I crazy, or might I actually be on to something?

So, is this just the main Ultimate Marvel thread, or do we have another one of those?

As much as I think it's a cool idea, I can't say "President Captain America" without giggling. President Captain Commander-in-Chief Modern Major General Grand Vizier Poobah Hokage America.

The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]

Ultimatum sounds like a splatterfest. Like, what kinda death will happen next.

Given I am amused by such things, is Ultimatum worth it? Or do the other bad elements ruin it?

[up]No. Its too bad to be entertaining even as that. If you want that read Avengers Arena.

No matter how hard I try I just can't get myself back into the Ultimate Universe post-Ultimatum. It's just not working anymore. I'm still surprised the line is still running.

More than half the deaths in Ultimatum made no sense anyway.

The Thing, all by himself, walks into Castle Doom, stomps his way to Doom, and crushes his head without even getting a fight? So, that was all you needed to do to stop Doom for good? You didn't even need the other three?
