Because the anachronistic music won't detract from it enough.
Oh, and the Beyonce cover of Back to Black came out. It's horrible.

The film will end with Gatsby living to set up The Great Gatsby 2: Rise of the Shadow Parties, an action-packed sequel where Nick and Gatsby are fugitives and have to fight terrorists who are trying to kill the President while attempting to clear their names. It will have Jonah Hill as Gatsby's brother Kyle Gatz, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick's uncle who knows kung fu, Tiger Woods as himself (he's a rival to Jordan), Helena Bonham-Carter as Gatsby's evil daughter from the future, Matt Damon as the terrorist leader/Cyborg Gatsby, Tommy Lee Jones as the President, and Marion Coutillard as Miranda Tate/Talia al'Ghul.
After seeing those clips, now I'm REALLY conflicted. On one hand, everything looks gorgeous, and my fears about the music don't seem to have been true (but, then, this is only a few short clips). On the other, the acting...the acting doesn't seem as good as I'd hoped. It's mixed. I don't know.

Agreed. Judging from the clips, the only person who seems to be consistently putting effort into it is Elizabeth Debicki. Isla Fisher looks alright, too, but there's not enough footage of her to make any predictions. Everyone else? Eh...I thought Carey and Tobey were okay. Still not sold on Joel and Leo.

Looking for some stories?Tobey seemed a lot more vulnerable (read: dopey) than I expected. He honestly seemed like he thought he was in a high school play.
Elizabeth seemed very good though.

...FANDANGO, YOU LIED TO ME.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. We can stream the entire soundtrack now.
Feel free to skip the Jay-z song. It's barely listenable.
Also, a question; is it true that the movie will be shown in 3D only?

Looking for some stories? The Jazz version of Crazy in Love is pretty hot.

No. There's non-3-D listings in my area, at least.
Get thee to a Netflix and drink a cup of Moulin Rouge. High camp, highly serious. Which it would be, since those things are a tautology. Hell, just watch the two songs inside/on top of the Elephant. Heightened emotions, couture, ridiculous and unlikely action taken seriously by the characters — and ultimately by the audience.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.'Love is the Drug' is also a pretty great tune on the soundtrack.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau Project@Nicknacks: I think you're forgetting how highly polarizing Moulin Rouge is.
And that it's the same director.
And that Moulin Rouge isn't an adaptation of a highly respected preexisting work.

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Well, it is loosely based on an opera.
I'm just gonna say this; if the acting portions of Great Gatsby are anything like the acting portions of Moulin Rouge, then Great Gatsby is screwed. There may not be a limit to how much silly stuff the characters can take seriously when it comes to Camp, but there is a limit for the audience.

Looking for some stories?Reviews are starting to come in, and several of them are...uncomplimentary, so to speak.
I'm still gonna see it because the book was awesome and I've never completely seen a Baz Luhrmann film before.
