The essence of a Mary Sue is that they are the center of the universe, are always right, and have no struggles. The article and the OP do not convince me this is the case.
Like I said, Solstice is basically a clone of Miss Martian, but without the naivete, and also has the capacity for anger, apparently.
Now that I think about it, Solstice isn't really a Mary Sue at all, she's just a Flat Character. Can hardly be helped, but I guess that's tough.

I don't think "the center of the universe" can apply as a Mary Sue benchmark in an universe as wide and complex as the DCU or the MU.
By "center of the universe" I mean the pre-established universe and characters bend around them to make them look good. For example, if a set of characters are established with one of them being a good leader, one incredibly smart, and one incredibly strong, and a new character is introduced (such as in a fanfiction) that is a better leader, smarter, and stronger than those three characters, then the new character is, as I understand it, a Mary Sue. In addition, as part of "being the center of the universe" all characters who get in the way of the Mary Sue's goals are evil or treated as if they're evil.
It's my fault for using a vague, cliched phrase.

Honestly pre new 52 it may have been her intro but she was the one who solved almost every problem the titans got into during those ten or so issues she exhibited many of the mary sue traits and came close to having a bit of creator sueism too. She was also the lead character of a wonder girl one off...in which Cass was a bystander in despite it being her book. Now solstice is just another one of the team.
Though saying that I did quit one issue into the culling when they killed Artemis, made beast boy red and the culling ended up as a shallow hunger games ripoff so I cannot say if shes changed after that.
" I did the right thing, didn't I? It all worked out in the end." "In the end? Nothing ends, Adrian. Nothing ever ends."When reading Krul's run (which I actually really liked, it got me back into TT after Mc Keever's run ran me out), I felt she was. Particularly in the arc where they're in India, which I felt serious Arc Fatigue from.

I'm talking about this
Solstice.
Solstice here is essentially a Miss Martian clone with none of the naivete that made the latter such a charming character.
It may be that this is simply because Solstice never had enough time to develop as a character, and was only there in the first place to create "diversity" which could easily be obtained by bringing in, say, Static Shock, or even Blue Beetle, but I digress. Of course, in view of Krul's less-than-amazing run, I'm not sure she would have gotten that development anyway.
Well?
