I read a fanfic where CCA!Amuro got sent into the Cosmic Era when SEED was taking place.
Here it is: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9083110/1/The-White-Unicorn-of-SEED
The thing I have found about throwing X into the Seed universe is that I have not seen it done well. It either bashes characters (Kira, Lacus, and Flay are normally the main targets) or character X sues the entire universe harder than most Naruto xovers (which is impossible mind you and yes there have been fics like that as well). I'll give it a look over when I get board.

I actually intend on massively improving Shinn. In my earlier SEED idea (not the crossover one), Shinn makes an early appearance as a rookie Astray pilot who kept pestering the recruitment officers until they signed him up in frustration to get rid of him. Accordingly, he (and a couple of other guys; no special treatment here) gets personally trained in piloting by Cagalli who herself is training rookies as a distraction from Uzumi's death - which Shinn notices but doesn't comment on, although it does mean that he doesn't blame her for his family's deaths. No, he blames the Earth Alliance - and when the war ends, he signs up with ZAFT specifically because if another war involving the Alliance starts, that's where the action is going to be.
He still ends up fighting Kira but it goes down differently. The reason why Shinn can give Kira a run for his money is because Kira is suffering from Crippling Overspecialization: as mentioned before, Kira has had prior experience with petit mobile suits before he got his hands on the Strike and adapts very quickly to space combat. However, his over-reliance on AMBAC means that when he's fighting in gravity, his combat prowess drops by several notches (hence why he ends up training Flay to be his wingman with the Strike IWSP). Shinn notices this weakness and exploits it with deadly efficiency. The other reason why Shinn can keep up with Kira is because they're both Newtypes; it's implied earlier that Shinn's enemies get a chill whenever he's particularly worked up in battle but in this particular duel, Shinn is so pissed at Stella's death that he involuntarily does the Newtype equivalent of an Angst Nuke (scaring the hell out of Kira in the process) and spends the next few days comatose from the strain.
Another difference in the fight is that Kira doesn't get away from the Freedom getting impaled scot-free: his lower spine is turned into mincemeat by shrapnel and while Cagalli hauls the Freedom's cockpit back to the Archangel, Kira spends several minutes chest-deep in highly-radioactive water that gives him severe radiation poisoning. He survives but his physical disability prevents him from piloting a mobile suit ever again; he eventually ends up in ZAFT custody, gets press-ganged as a mobile suit designer and dies of cancer three years later, albeit not before double-piloting with Shinn a Gundam of his own design in a final battle against the Destroy Gundam's AI-controlled successor.
As for Athrun... this might sound as bashing but Athrun actually tries to avenge a still-living Kira against Kira's wishes and essentially becomes what Shinn ended up as in canon, snapping out of it only when Shinn points out that Athrun had become just as revenge-crazed as his genocidal father was and Athrun has a massive Heel Realization Freak Out in response. Yes: Shinn, the poster boy for The Berserker, manages to talk his way out of killing someone gunning for his life. That should be a hint of how far he had come - all because he showed sympathy towards Cagalli several years before.

Yeah Shinn is a beserker but you would have to seriously overhaul his character in order to turn him into what you want to and that smells of fixer Sue in my honest opinion. Shinns rage is what drives him (it's also what activates his Seed factor) if you want to try and do what you saying at least go with tranquil fury where his rage is still there but harnessed. About everything else, again not sure. You might want to ask someone else for a second opinion.
I never said he would let go of his rage entirely. Rather, he learns to (somewhat) control it.
Also, I once thought of a What If? scenario where Shinn's sister survives the incident that kills their parents but ends up comatose from a combination of shock and trauma, with Shinn joining ZAFT to pay for her medical expenses.

I'd read the hell out of that.
And that makes total sense.
The Strike in my fanfic has had it's canon Striker Packs improved, three new ones based on the other Earth Alliance Gundams (Duel, Buster, Blitz) except for the Aegis.
Before you comment on the fact that it makes said MS pointless, I'd like to say that SEED MS have exclusive weaponry. Well, until they get Morganroete.
And the original character's mecha is both an expy of the Strike and a nod to the Chining Gundam. The Duel, Buster and the Blitz striker packs were originally just for the Ji (Strike) Huckebein but the Morganroete higher up were like:
Employer: Make the Ji Packs compadible with the Strike.
Employees: k.

Your idea isn't actually that far-fetched. Some materials say that in-universe, the Chaos, Gaia and Abyss were originally supposed to be Silhouette Packs for the Impulse but ended up being developed as separate units in the same way the Destiny Silhouette eventually evolved into the Destiny Gundam due to the wings sapping the Impulse's batteries too quickly and the modifications necessary for equipping the pack breaking backwards compatibility with the other packs.
For Want of a Nail Mobile Suit Gundam 00 fic idea:
Billy Katagiri's mind fractures upon the reveal of Risa as Sumeragi, and in a weird way. Somehow, he gets (bad) advice from Mr. Bushido after a night of drinking, something like "What are you good at? Show her how you feel through that."
Somehow, Billy's mind interprets that as "make a masterpiece that looks like Risa", and he goes into A-Laws doing SCIENCE.
When Bushido goes to collect his brand-spanking-new custom MS, what he expected was a samurai-ish MS. What he got was a Flag that looked a lot like a giant Risa Kujoh with armor, four GN Tau Drives (two on the breasts, two on the derriere), and sporting two beam sabers.
After a Noodle Incident involving a real katana, Bushido scratching the derriere of the RK Flag during a practice run, and Yakety Sax playing in the background, Bushido goes and faces the 00 Raiser.
Stuff happens, and the upgrade is two more GN Tau Drives on the shoulders, an improved bustline (lol), and two GN Machine Pistols on the shoulder racks - the RK Flag S.
More stuff happens, and between the end of 00 S2 and the movie, Billy sells his talents to CB in exchange for four authentic GN Drives.
Graham ends up piloting the Gundam Sumeragi in the movie, where the shoulder Tau Drives are replaced by GN Condensers. Stuff happens, Patrick gets the Brave Commander, and at the epilogue...
"SETSUNA F. SEIEI! I, MUSASHI KUJOU-KATAGIRI, WITH THE INHERITED WILL OF MY LATE MASTER IN THE WAY OF THE SWORD, GRAHAM AKER, CHALLENGE YOU TO A DUEL WITH THIS SUMERAGI GUNDAM!"
(And yes, this is heavily influenced by the Valsione.)

Neither goony beard-men nor rainbow-haired she-twinks will stand in the way of my dreams!@unlikelyauthor, last page: Well, later on in SEED, it's revealed that ZAFT developed new Gundams equipped with N-Jammer Cancellers, allowing them to be powered by ultracompact nuclear fission reactors.
Also, that sounds like an amusing fanfic idea. Speaking of 00, is there a crossover between it and Bioshock Infinite? I wanna see a version of Columbia held up by stolen GN Drive-powered Gundams.
Other stuff that happens in the "Billy Katagiri flips out, becomes Crazy Awesome and builds a Sumeragi Valsione" story:
- Prince Ali takes one second too many gawking at the robot boobs and gets sniped / sliced for his trouble.
- Running Gag of the Ptolemaios crew turning their heads in sync towards Sumeragi every single time the RK Flag shows up
- Setsuna, for once, getting rendered speechless and his face stuck somewhere between Oh, Crap! and Flat "What" mode when the RK Flag shows up.
- When the RK Flag-B shows up, Ian Vashti comments on how the front GN Tau Drives are larger. Feldt starts another running gag of covering Mileina's ears and slowly turning her head away from her father.
- Graham will always insist on "whoever runs out of Trans-Am loses" matches with Setsuna when piloting the RK Flag, because Billy will literally kill him should he scratch the face or the GN Tau Drives. Come series' end, he fights the 00 Raiser in the RK Flag-B to a standstill but runs out of GN Particles. He stashes the MS away, grabs an Overflag, and is the closest one to beat Setsuna in a very long time, thanks to Billy's craziness actually acting as "weights" for Graham's piloting.
- After the UNDERSTANDING WAVE (aka Trans-Am Burst), Billy and Sumeragi are nowhere to be seen. As soon as Ribbons is defeated, cut to the RK Flag-B's cockpit opening, with Billy and Sumeragi leaving, both smoking cigarettes.

Sir, I MUST get a hold of your drugs.
The Aile/Tongqi Pack has a VSBR Beam Rifle called the "Naoscair" like the F91 except it's more unstable and has a chargeable battery pack. It can be charged by putting it in the special compartment of the booster pack. I've been debating on having a shield that fire lazers like the X Divider or having a I-Field Generator like the Unicorn.

It's all part of the theory that the best characters at what they do in the Gundam 00 universe is a bit... off, in the head, so to speak. Tieria's, well, Tieria with all that entails, Setsuna has a platonic relationship with Gundam, Graham, he is a Ryusei, Allelujah has a split personality and/or is Jonathan Morris, ditto Soma but change Jonathan Morris to Charlotte Aulin, etc. etc.
Ah. Marida and the Purus. Ought to have figured as much.
DWG 1 made me a fan of Puru 1, but DWG 3 is turning me into more of a Puru 2 fan. It also kinda makes me want to ship Puru Two/Banagher, though I do realize that it's due to Puru Two substituting for Marida for players (like me) who don't have access to DLC.
.... kind of hoping now that DWG 4 will have Marida and the rest of Celestial Being playable without having to get DLC...
I only played DWG 2 myself but a few weeks ago, I got to hear Puru Two's soundclip when she reaches maximum friendship level with a male pilot (in this case, Seabook): "What's happening...? I'm so confused... When I'm with you, I... I..."
And I was like, "TSUNDEREEEEE!!!
"
I mean, I haven't laughed that hard since I witnessed Puru saying her own max-friendship line ("That does it! From now on, I'm gonna be your little sister!") to Shinn!
Ahem... Fanboyism aside, I'm quite interested in reading a slice-of-life story about the three Purus, written in the style of the "Zabi family's daily life" plotline of Gundam-san. Maybe Marida portrayed as a hybrid of Cool Big Sis and Knight Templar Big Sister, with some shady connections stemming from her current/previous status as teenage delinquent? Like, the three of them got orphaned at an early age but got taken in by Yakuza boss Haman Karn who intends to make Marida as the clan's heir apparent, with Glemy trying to contest the succession on the basis that his family had been serving the clan since its formation and with Haman being the ruling family's last descendant, the clan's leadership is rightfully Glemy's, not some random street urchin's.
I think he means either Glemy (who's not well liked) or Yazan (who's a Hero Killer the likes of which the world hasn't seen since).

Here's something interesting. Shinn could of ended up like Kamile if Shinn's development went differently. Read Shinn's character trope page on Gundam Seed Destiny. I think the troper who wrote had a very good point.
