As crazy as she seemed, Red Cap wasn't an idiot either. As Wild Card continued to fall towards her, she seemed to just be standing there, as if she didn't have any clue what she was doing. But as soon as Wild Card got in range, she dodged the attack with that same speed she showed before, then grabbed his legs as he was in midair, swung him around in two circles, then threw him straight at Charity, who Red Cap saw as she swung around. "Bye-e bye-e!," she yelled out.

The red chick was fast - faster than Wildcard, it would seem.

As her current colleague came flying towards her, Charity dropped to the ground.

Crap - she's strong!

"Ah, fu—"

His phrase was interrupted as Isaac's tendrils restrained his limbs. Unable to move, and diving head-first straight into the ground, Lucunditas tried everything- punching the guy, butting heads- but he knew he just wouldn't give up. He had managed to one-up Isaac back during their little chase, and so his enemy was probably ready to do whatever was needed to either capture or consume him.

He would survive the fall, of course. The "curse" made his entire body stronger, faster, and more resistent. But he still needed that extra resistance, that little bonus that would allow him to run away after the crash. He immediately tried to search for anything made out of metal on Isaac's clothes- if he found anything touching his hands, arms or feet, he would immediately transform into said metal.

Advancing on the red girl, Charity built up a charge in her hands, and let more electricity dance in her skin.

Let's see if she can hit me unscathed.

The djinni was already having a bad day up to that point. It was bad enough that most of his "body" had succumbed to panic in the morning; he'd somehow forgotten the ingrained fear of raptors in small animals, and the fact that the city hosted an itinerant population of peregrine falcons. His first warning was the death of a squirrel he'd just added to the flock—a swoop of shadow in the morning sunlight, a sudden blinding panic, a sharp momentary pain in the back of the animal's neck, and the disappearance of all sensation. He had unwisely been focused mostly on that squirrel instead of spreading out his attention over the swarm, and before he could refocus his reactions the panic had spread and the rats had scattered at top speed.

That had been hours ago, and he'd just gotten the rats and mice into a reasonably coherent swarm again, whose collective thoughts he rode. To others he was Abu Aleferan al-Hamelni, the genie of the Pied Piper and the guiding intelligence of rats; it was as good a name as any other. It had powerful stories attached to it, which was important. People respected the stories, the legends, passed down from generation to generation.

That only made it smart all the more, that a mere urbanized bird of prey had induced such an uncontrolled animal reaction that had overwhelmed his guiding intelligence. Abu was confident that had he actually guided the animals with his full inhuman intelligence he would have driven the bird off. Just as well that no-one had seen it.

Currently, he had most of the swarm in the park. There were usually food scraps aplenty and no lack of hiding places among the bushes, not to mention easy access to the sewers. The battle had brewed up with little warning, and Abu had firmly overridden the instincts of the rats to run away. Instead he was spread out in strategic bushes and trees, and one part of him was bringing up several packages of goodies from the sewers, just in case.

It was therefore sheer bad luck that one group of five rats carrying a soft brown-paper package between them, dashing from cover to a dumpster, broke Wildcard's fall and scattered like furry, squeaking bowling pins. For the second time that day Abu had been caught unawares.

"Thou son of a flea-arsed camel!" he spluttered, his voice carrying just above the squeaking of the rodents, which were getting back to their feet and observing Wildcard somewhat dazedly. The accent sounded as if it had caromed off Farsi, Arabic, and then Saxonian German on its way to the New World, before being transcribed for piccolo and then played in harmony to high-pitched squeaking. "Twice in one day this happens—cannot men nor djinn live in this accursed city without things falling on them?"

At first, Arguma waited, seeing if he would be able to spot the owl-man exiting a different part of the building from the air. It also gave his ship more time to scan and potentially lock on to the shards. The longer he waited, the more he became certain that whoever it was either knew he was here somehow and was waiting for him to leave, or had used some kind of secret passageway inside the building.

His bet was on the latter. He activated his comm to update the authorities.

[ROBERT] He reported through the comm device. [I HAVE TRACKED THE SUSPECT TO AN ABANDONED STRUCTURE. I BELIEVE IT IS A FRONT FOR A HIDDEN PASSAGEWAY OF SOME KIND.]

Using his ships computer systems, he transmitted his ships location to headquarters so that they'd know where he was. Arguma then proceeded to land the Exile near the plant and armed his weapon, giving his ship one last chance to try to lock onto the shards before investigating on foot. The ship would continue to search for a signal while he was inside, of course, but it would be nice if he didn't have to waste his time searching on foot if he didn't have to.

Aldawolf leaped from rooftop to rooftop, out on his usual patrol. He looked for any signs of criminal activity, as usual. He couldn't really deal with the bigger things, the registered super heroes generally got to them first. He sometimes watched them fight things like giant robots, wishing he could help them without them chasing after his ass right afterwards. He changed his focus back to patrol, leaping from building to building. He checked down in the alleyways between rooftops, looking to the streets as well, before continuing on to the next rooftop. As he leapt to another roof, he heard something going on below, and went to check it out. Sure enough, he saw the fight going on below in the alleyway between, from what he could make out, a little girl and some super heroes. He wasn't sure if they were registered or not, but he watched. Registered or not, if things looked bad for them, he would help. He wasn't even sure though who was the true 'hero' or not.

When he was done Lucas closed his eyes and tapped into the nearest internet hotspot, bypassing the already poorly encrypted password, and tried to connect to Strix by searching out for Sophia's digital signature that Ibbie had memorized the last time they talk. When he did find it, he patched himself through and his voice could be heard through Strix's cowl, "Hey falcon boy, what you up to?", he said in his head sending the message through. As soon as he paused, Ibbie blurted out , "Anything fun happen to you Sophee?", she said calling her by the nickname she gave her.

Rolling his eyes, Lucas continued talking despite the interruption, "I know it's a bit late, but I wanna go over a few things with you. I think you may already know what I'm talking about, and considering the way you are, you may already have some leads but I want to come and see what you got."

"You keep headin' in there,' Robert said to Arguma. "I'll send a few few of my boys after you to investigate the place, and maybe, if you&them find conclusive evidence, take care of that SOB who stole the shards too. So, unless you need anything else, then let me send 'em in." Robert the signed off, and immediately went to sending three good cops over to the facility, which incidentally went by the names of Larry, Curly, and Moe. It would take some for them to get there, however, so for now, Arguma would be on his own...

As Charity continued to advance toward's Red Cap, she simply looked up at Charity with a seemingly innocent smile, while at the same, her legs were bent&ready. If one looked closely enough however, then they might see that, judging by Red Cap's current stance and her past actions, that she was probably getting ready to dodge&grab yet again, and so, if they were so inclined, that simply rushing her was probably not the best option. But whether or not someone could tell, was entirely up to them...

The computer then patched Lucas in

"I'd love to meet with you, but i'm kind of in the middle of something and probably being hunted by the authorities. Any place you have in mind, or do you want to meet me at home?"

Home of course meant the warehouse. had no doubt that his security was more than good enough to keep him safe here, but it was best to be safe and not head outside for a bit.

"Analytical work? Did you find something Strix's? No...wait a minute. If your being chased by the police then…dang it Strix, did you steal something?!", Lucas said instinctively putting his hand to his face. Ibbie on the other hand kept talking to Sophia, ignoring the second conversation between Strix and Lucas, "Your guy doesn't ever take break does he? Every time we meet, your always busy and such."

Lucas's voice however became urgent, "Give me a location and I'll be there as soon as I can. If whatever you took is important then the police will send something stronger than a few squad cars filled with guys holding megaphones.", "Hey Sophee! we're coming over to visit!"

It's always "Analyze this Sophia" or "Monitor that Sophia" or "Sophia, Hack into this orbital laser array's targeting system and fire it at South America", honestly it's like I'm his slave!"

Strix sighed in exasperation

Look, they can't chase what they can't find. Just...meet me in the old power station. Enough half-dead energy signatures all over that place to make scanning difficult and it can still run if there's an emergency, plenty of metal lying around too.

He was more or less expecting the worst, so he packed his new "able to take down a giant mecha" level tasers and reloaded his belt just in case before heading to the old station himself, sticking to roof-hopping, grappling and acrobatics since it was much more low key than gliding.

Hopefully SOPHIA would get some results out of the shard fragments.

We don't even have lasers!", "I'm working on it! Just give me few more hours.", Lucas said out loud briefly forgetting that the conversation was in his head. Few people turned around wondering who he was talking to.

He quickly got up, leaving some money for a tip, and headed for his car slightly embarrassed, "I'll meet you there in ten."

Checking his surroundings, Arguma double checked that his weapon was ready and set for stun. Even with as much as he was able to take from this planet, he still knew better than to trust in just that. His soldier training ensured he knew better. Leaving his ship in stealth mode, Arguma rushed to the building and took cover near a door, then forced it open and made his way inside, sweeping the area and preparing to shoot anything or anyone that might attack him.

When the attack didn't come, he slowly moved inside, keeping his weapon up and checking around him for potential traps. His first destination was for under the smoke stack he had seen the owl-man come down. At the bottom was what appeared to be a chemical vat.

Leaping up to the walkways above, Arguma tore off a section of railing and tossed it into the vat, ensuring it wasn't set up as a trap. When the bar lay there for several seconds and nothing happened, the alien leapt in after it, tossing the bar back out to give him an opportunity to examine whether there might be something up with the vat before moving on to the rest of the factory. Slowly, he examined both the floor and the walls of the chemical vat, trying to determine if there might be any kind of secret entrance.

As Lucas made his way out of the cafe, a kindly looking man in glasses stepped forward to hold the door for him. Flashing the bio-robot a smile, Josh ignored what to him was an obvious non-human and shuffled his newspaper as he fished around in his pocket to pay for coffee. A short while later, he was sitting at the very table Lucas had vacated, reading the day's news and waiting for his forthcoming appointment.

Meanwhile, Adamant's AI began to experience a rather powerful attempt to breach the firewall she'd set up around her partner's mind. Shortly beforehand, it had been almost too low-key for Ibbie to notice, more of a harmless bot sending out a ping than anything else. Now, however, it was evolving rapidly, expertly adapting to her admittedly well-constructed defenses and somehow finding holes in them. If nothing else, there was obviously the mark of a complex intelligence behind the attack.

Try as he might, Arguma didn't find anything hidden in the vat. Eventually, he gave up on the matter and began to investigate the rest of the facility. He had every reason to suspect there was something hidden somewhere in the factory, he just didn't know where or what.

"Could take a while." He muttered to himself in his native language. "Better get started."

You alright, cause I thought that you would be more excited at visiting Sophia?", "Its...nothing just...I'll be running a diagnostic scan, it'll be done by the time we get to the power station.", she said staying quiet, but thinking. A presence had passed by, almost undetectable, but yet it had entered the very recesses of her core trying to touch or see everything. Its identity was unknown even to her despite the vast knowledge she contained, which was why it bothered her so because it had pushed through her sercurity like a wet napkin, "Oh...alright if you say so.", said Lucas driving off.

Josh leafed through the newspaper. As usual, the editorial page was filled with angry columns about he and his colleagues and the virtues or evils of super-humans in general. Funny how we manage to spark more controversy without even trying than Washington does in a month. Probably a curse.

It was the morning's paper, so naturally there were no reports of the giant robot attack on the front page, but the telepath was certain that with the attack so close to Nuclon's crater, the front page of tomorrow's edition would announce the incident to the world in enormous print, if it didn't end up supplanted by a headline about the unforgivable failure of the Registered heroes to prevent masses of criminals from escaping during the jailbreak. He'd told Robert and the chief before he left that PR should be ready to spin the likely catastrophe, but there was probably no amount of spin that could possibly contain the backlash sure to come if they did fail. Just thinking about it was tiring.

There was one small thing to smile about, however. As he set down the paper and took a long sip of his coffee, Josh noticed the bizarre mix of biology and technology - "Lucas Valerio", as he now knew he was called - finally slipping out of range of his senses. Adamant and his ilk were their best hope for weathering the inevitable storm to come, even if they didn't yet realize it. And so, after he had finally managed to bypass the other hero's mental defenses and get an idea of just what sort of person he was dealing with, he had sent a message. Wrapping his head around the workings of the code that made up the other man's brain without damaging anything had been difficult and not entirely successful, but if he had to wager a guess, the telepath would say he'd managed to leave the equivalent of a voice-mail:

"Scio te, Ibbiella*

Isaac gritted his teeth as they finally made impact.
