The work page for Webcomic.Tales Of The Unrefined seems to be a bit at odds with itself... the description and some of the tropes make the claim that it is more horror themed plot with porn than straight up porn, but then most of the remaining trope listings make it sound pretty porny.

I always try to read/watch a work if possible before making a decision, however for this particular webcomic I can barely find anything. None of the official sounding websites seem to host it, and only a scant few results come up on google image search.

So I'd like to ask anyone who may have read this work to help me out here. Any information relevant to the decision of whether this is primarily porn would be greatly appreciated.

I find it odd that the page for this was created just today.

Anyway, when I tried to Google the thing, the results for the site was a mess with no actual comics that could be viewed. Since this thing apparently has a printed issue, it appears that you'll have to get your hands on that.

All I can say is, based on our page on it and its entry on WebcomicZ, is that it tries to play extreme sexuality and violence for horrific Squick value. Wish I could tell you more than that.

I think it was a namespace change that coincidentally was done today. The page flagged for review was originally in Main.

Pros: "considering that the stories are very well realized and not always driven by sexual content"

Cons: "purely for shock content"

"Old Shame"

Couple the fact that you can't find it on the internet anymore (unless you get really, REALLY lucky) and you've got yourself a prime candidate for cutting. It's dead weight.

This thing doesn't even exist, correct? Why do we still have a page on it?

It used to exist online, but was taken down by the author. Apparently several print editions were produced, however, so it technically exists just not in a way that we can meaningfully review it.

I was going to post a topic about this. The author of this comic is incensed that this article is still around, but that this site deleted articles on Caligula, which is apparently one of his favorite movies, and the comic book Cherry Pop Tart. He hates this comic and can't believe that TV Tropes kept up the article for the comic he worked on that he hates, but deleted articles for stuff he likes.

...how the hell can Caligula be ANYONE'S favorite movie? [/off-topic]

I know there's No Such Thing As Notability, but it seems like since the author wants it gone and it might be violating content, the page won't be missed if we nuke it.

The author's wishes don't come into this.

But the author refers to Tales of the Unrefined as a porn comic here: http://twitter.com/#!/IsaacBaranoff/status/203603185317847040

That should end the discussion.

[up][up][up] It's Brad Jones' favourite movie, too. He actually did it as the 100th episode of his show.

There are fans of schlocky exploitation films, and as these things go, Caligula is the biggest of them all. Not to mention its troubled history, which any fan of cinema history will tell you is highly fascinating. It's actually one of the few things I hate to see go, but there's just no case for it to stay.

[up] Just because he thinks it's porn, doesn't mean it necessarily fits our guidelines for it. Granted, I haven't read it, and can't make decisions. Just pointing it out.

I saw a few pages from it when it came out. It was basically porn. It had graphic penetration and ejaculation.

Yes, and H Games are considered porn by some definitions and Alan Moore called Lost Girls porn while critics called it art. What the author says and what critics say doesn't have much to do with what we say. Maybe useful, but hardly the end of the matter.

I don't understand why Caligula goes, but this stays. There are two non-pornographic versions of Caligula, including an R rated version and Tinto Brass' softcore version.

Also, Lost Girls was deleted, too, so why should this stay?

No one has definitively said that it is staying. Just that the author saying "this is porn" is not grounds for immediate, no-vote cutting. P5 asked for feedback, and will then make their decision.

Yeah, even Eddie has made clear that the wishes of an author do not necessarily dictate what the Wiki does.

I will say this: absent any meaningful way to review this work, the authors word that it is indeed a porn comic will probably suffice for me to give it a devil head. If we have to rely on word of mouth, direct from the source is probably the best we can get.

@12: I know there are fans of schlocky exploitation films, because I'm one of them. I felt like Caligula failed even at that. But that's really off-topic.

Yes lets please keep this thread discussion devoted to this particular work. All the "if you cut/kept that work then why not this?!?" is ultimately unproductive at best.

Does anyone have arguments or evidence as to why Tales of the Unrefined shouldn't be on the chopping block? Otherwise I'm going to take the author at his word and vote to cut this.
